Toth wins playoff... Again!

The best turnout of the season came on August 3rd with 21 golfers showing up. The field was deep, with the cali this week going into the A Pool. Winning it this week, with first timer Andy Gries, was Ryan Toth - who blasted a 55 (-17) over the 24 hole layout including a strong six hole run through the middle of the course. Despite this it did come down to a playoff with Dave O'Shea and Chris Johnson (another first timer) shooting a 55 as well, including a solid nine hole run. Toth botched o ... more

RPG2 cleans up

Only ten golfers on Tuesday this week - half of the field being newcomers to the league. Ron Gravelle II played solid golf with Ron Shufelt as his partner, squeaking out a one stroke victory over Woj/Ginsbach. The same six extras were played as on July 20th with one minor tweak as the fourth extra was lengthened by about 45 feet, creating a more interesting golf shot. The extra hole layout appears to be finalized going into the seventh week of the summer league.

Toth breaks Woj in epic playoff.

Okay, the playoff wasn't truly epic - but it had some great shots. After three weeks in a row of Woj winning - Ryan Toth and Andy Mohr took the win in a 5 hole playoff. Woj and Nate Ginsbach had a chance to win on the second hole, but both hit front-rim on a 40 footer uphill. Toth saved the day with a 75 foot jump putt on the third hole, with Woj and Nate double parked. And on hole 5 (330 uphill tunnel, OB right) - Toth parked it and Woj wound up skipping to 30 left in a pine tree.

13 golfers, 24 holes, 1 ace.

The ace pool was emptied by Alan Pfaff - hitting hole 12 with a Z Avenger, that cashed him out $32. Jad Rihan picked up the $24 CTP on hole 13, although he was forced to split it with Nate Ginsbach after Nate paid him into it.

The course played to 24 holes this week, with 6 extra baskets across the bridge from hole 16. This week's layout was 1-16, A-F, 18-19. The layout is likely to be in use every week, with minor tweaks to the holes across the bridge. A 17 down was hot by Woj/Mohr - fo ... more

Week 3 - Three teams enter, one team emerges...

10 person field for week three - overall very strong field. Week 2 saw a few lower half players getting pulled into the A Pool, but this week it was more borderline A Pool players being bumped to B Pool for an even field. A lot more skill meant lower scores - with three 51s (-12). Shaw/Wampler dropped after one hole, and Nate Ginsbach hit a huge jump putt on the second hole to win it.

Ace pool is up to $21 going into the fourth week - the ca$h CTP was hit by Justin Haley for a clean $20 score.

Small field, still a decent payout...

With only nine people showing up for the second week... there was a cali. Sadly, Woj got it and won. Due to the small turnout there was a pretty unusual "A-Pool" with Joe and Tim both being stuck in the top half of the field. But despite all that - payouts were still as big as most larger TADGA leagues with 60 going to 1st and 30 going to 2nd.

A pay chart has been made... if the league starts hitting 25 golfers the payouts for first will be in the triple digits. So lets get more golfers out for Tens.

Ottawa on the Solstice

Amidst stiflingly humid conditions, a torrential downpour, and some very tall grass on two of the extra holes - Narc and Vogey came out the winners of Tuesday's Solstice Doubles. With 14 competitors all enjoying the idea - this will continue as Tens on Tuesday. Ottawa Park will always be the host course, and the short tees will always be the layout played. It should be fun, and will run through September.

Richest paying league in town, for only a $10 risk.
