Bag Tag Challenge Rules
A. Conduct
1. Have fun.
2. Everyone is on their honor to conduct themselves according to the rules.
3. The purpose of the Bag Tag Challenge is to encourage friendly competition among PADG members.
4. In order for the Bag Tag Challenge to work, all challenges should be accepted.
5. If you decline more than once, you will be considered to have lost the challenge and must forfeit your tag to the challenger.
6. You must have your bag tag at all times and be plainly visible and cannot be hidden.
7. Friendly side wagers of any kind can be made at the discretion of the participants, but are NOT required.
B. Challenges
1. Challenges will run from May 1st through September 30th. You may play for tags Oct 1st through April 30th, but the rules below will not be enforced.
2. Default format and the general concept of bag tag play is head-to-head, but you may play in groups of up to 5 as well.
3. PDGA rules apply. Discretionary rules, including the 2 meter rule, are at the discretion of the lower tag holder.
4. A player is required to have their bag tag in their possession to play a bag tag match.
5. The higher bag tag challenges the lower bag tag. Challenges can be by phone, computer, in person, or the PADG Facebook group. It is preferred to use our Facebook page to challenge.
6. The challenged player must give the challenger two (2) times to meet in the next two (2) weeks or they must forfeit the tag. If the challenger cannot meet that timeline, the challenge is void. Not showing up for a match results in a forfeit. (15min leeway).
7. The challenged player picks the course, tees, and format. Format choices include: stroke play or match play, but no doubles/triples/etc. If the challenger wins the round, the tags are exchanged.
8. Ties are won by the holder of the lower bag tag at the beginning of the round. However, if ALL players agree before the round starts, a playoff hole(s) can be used as a tie-breaker using sudden death rules. You don’t have to play back-to-back challenge rounds against the same player or in a multi-player match with the exact same opponents. (Eg: A player cannot challenge you, lose to you, and immediately challenge you again for another round.) However, if ALL parties agree, consecutive round challenges are allowed. Challenges MUST be verbally agreed upon at the beginning of EACH round.
9. Incomplete rounds: If a player doesn’t complete a bag tag challenge round, the exiting player should trade tags with the player with the highest tag number. If play is stopped by all players before the round is complete, no tags are exchanged. This could be due to hazardous weather, physical emergency or mutual agreement.
10. Challenges during official tournament play are optional.
C. Season
1. Bag Tags cost $10. Proceeds fund the PADG.
2. Initial distribution will be given out on the first league night in May by random draw.
3. The remaining tags will be sold sequentially.
D. Lost Tags
1. When a tag is lost, the number is dropped from the standings.
2. Members can purchase a new tag (if available) for $10 and will receive the lowest numbered tag available.
E. Reporting
1. Players holding tags must update the club with the results of each challenge. It is preferred to post the results on the PADG Facebook page.
2. The winner of the challenge is responsible for reporting the results of the challenge.
3. Players wishing to get information as to who holds each tag may check with the PADG President or the PADG Tournament Director. Also, the list will be updated weekly and placed on the PADG Facebook page.
F. Disputes
1. Given the comprehensive rules, there shouldn’t be any disputes.
2. In the very unlikely event of a dispute, each party shall contact the PADG President or Tournament Director for a final ruling.
