121 Total # of Players - So Far
Now in 2014 summer season the OrCPS had 14 leagues & 162 players. So this year we have half the number of participating leagues but still the number of players is growing a great indication of the growth of the sport in Oregon. In 2014 the average number of players per league was 11.571 players per league and in 2015 so far it is 17.285 players per league - awesome!
so with 121 players so far there has been:
836 Total Rounds Played
12,912 Total Points awarded
It is fun to watch the top players on the leaderboard and see what they are doing to reach the top spots. One of trends is normally a very high Points per Round average. But many players are unable to play multiple rounds per week so I always like to look at the top ten based on Points per round average and compare it to the top players. If we look at the top ten players currently the Average points per round is 20.794.
Top Ten by Points per Round Average:
Leaderboard Position Player Points Total Rounds Pts/Round Avg.
81 luis nava 34 1 34
7 David Zimmerman 291 10 29.1
4 Logan Robinson 328 12 27.33333333
27 Michael Kochendorfer 182 7 26
75 Alex Olguin 50 2 25
32 Chris Hill 174 7 24.85714286
47 Bo Hicks 122 5 24.4
8 David Dickerson 289 12 24.08333333
20 Michael Robinson 215 9 23.88888889
9 zach kelly 285 12 23.75
So let's take Michael Kochendorfer as an example. 7 rounds so far with an Average Points per Rounds of 26.00. If Michael was able to play 16 rounds with this same Points per Round average he would be in the Top 5.
Just take a look at #4 Logan Robinson with 12 rounds and a Points per Round average of just over 27.
Great consistent Play Michael - hope you can make it out more often and rocket up the leaderboard. Unfortunately life happens for many of us and we just can't get out as often as we would like so it is fun to compare the stats to see how we are doing and our friends.
Top Ten Player - Average stats
313.2222222 Points
16.1 # of Rounds 1.0 Avg Rounds / week
15.4 # of Rounds Counted 1.0 Avg Rounds / week
20.794 Average Points per Rounds
21.398 Average Points per Counted rounds
2.9 Wins
0.5 Aces
284 Min points 10th place
363 Max points 1st place
79 Point Spread
So Aces help but are not a huge factor currently. Only 4 players in the top ten have Aces with #4 Logan Robinson with the most Aces in the Top Ten with 2
Wins which most players think is the biggest factor is not significant currently, with an average of 2.9 wins between al ten top players and only 2 players have the current max of 6 wins.
looking at the top players we see 18, 19 and 21 counted rounds played so far to date. Our current leader Stacey "Stace' the Ace" has 3 wins, no Aces but has 23 rounds, of which 21 are counted. So you don't have to Win all your rounds and so a winning formula can be play often with consistent "good" results. How "Good" well that depends on how everyone else is doing. Last Year and in the Winter Rick Saffeels keep that "Good" bar very high with many rounds that he also won.
Ok here are the Top Ten Player stats:

The player with the most HLW rounds at the end of the season will get an extra DGLA Award.
Summer Aces: Worth 25 points
As a player in the OrCPS-S you represent the core Oregon Disc Golf players and you can really help make this sport better. Help pass along the Disc Golf etiquette that makes rounds fun and fair for all. Encourage new players and pass along some tips to help others improve. Bring a friend out and expose them to leagues. If you pack it in, pack it out - or at least make sure it ends up in a trash can. Keeping the courses clean is critical to keeping our courses.
We have naturally beautiful courses let's help keep them that way.
There are more leagues than ever so get out to some new courses or new leagues and see what is going on throughout the state. Don't overlook the smaller leagues - they tend to incorporate new ideas faster, have a really friendly group feel and you get introduce to the new courses with the locals who know them best. I also highly recommend making it out to one of the larger leagues as well to experience the energy of all those players coming together at one time, yet in a slightly more casual environment than a tournament. Bottom line, get out and play often!!!! & Enjoy.
Enjoy the Rounds!
Please remove D.O.R.C.s from the DGLA summer series 2015 a swell. By popular request of the D.O.R.C.s regular players I ask that we NOT be included in this years summer series.

The Disc Golf League Association (DGLA) is proud to bring you the 2nd annual, Oregon Cooperative Point Series – Winter, (OrCPS-W) 2015 season.
14 week State Wide Disc Golf League Point Series
Sunday Nov 23rd 2014 - Saturday Feb 28th 2015
FREE to all league players who play participating leagues and free to the leagues/clubs as well.
********** IMPORTANT *****************
* January 15th - deadline for adding new leagues to the OrCPS-W Point series.
******************************************
This year clubs/leagues must Opt-In to the OrCPS. Meaning any player or league admin of a league who wants to get OrCPS-W points for their regular league rounds needs to ensure that they post on the OrCPS-W Comments page or send a message to one of the league admin. Please include the link to the league page, it is really helpful to reduce effort and mistakes - Thanks
Also this year leagues can join and decide if they want to have a Highlighted League of the Week (HLW) or not. Some feedback that not all clubs/league are set-up to accommodate extra players or non-regular players. We understand. Now to help reach our mission to encourage more play and to help spread the good ideas, the HLW was designed to provide extra visibility of what each league does so that the ideas can be looked at to see what if anything others can try to enhance the experience of their players. Players also get extra points - Double Points! in the past as well as we try to acknowledge those players who try to attend as many HLW as possible and also look at how that affects their points and performance. But we also promote different formats and types of leagues and so we try to accommodate adding more without adding addition work to the league admin or negatively impact them in any way.
In the past many players of the Winter Point Series have enjoyed a temperature incentive, Double Points for rounds played where the (Feels Like - with Wind chill) Temperature is below 15 degrees F. If your will to challenge the Polar Vortex you deserve some reward.
Another suggestion recently was to add a Snow Incentive - If during your round you play in 2" or more, or 2" accumulates by the end of the round, Double Points.
If either occur post in the comments section and by the end of the week we will update the schedule to show the Double Points. Anyone who played in that round can make this post. The double points will be updated right before the weekly and monthly stats lock for the leaderbaord. If someone posts late we will update and the players will get the double points toward their overall total but the weekly and monthly leaderboards lock 2 days after the week or month.
Do you and your friends exchange stories about who played in the deepest snow or coldest temps? We will help determine that for the state. When you post provide the average fairway snow depth and the actual coldest temp you encountered during the round, when they are extreme and at the end of the season we will go back and update the schedule for the deepest snow and coldest temp and that will get TRIPLE points.
I'm excited to welcome two local players who were both very successful in the previous OrCPS and who were very active in providing feedback and ideas to help grow and improve the OrCPS and ensure it has an Oregon focus. Rick Saffeels & John "BEAST" Johnston have been added to the staff list and so you have some local players who you can discuss the OrCPS with, ask questions, provide suggestions or news that should be passed along to all Oregon players. You can always do the same directly with me but many times it easier to chat in person during a round or at a event.
The Disc Golf League Association (DGLA) is proud to bring you the 2nd annual, Oregon Cooperative Point Series – Winter, (OrCPS-W) 2015 season.
If there are others who would like to get involved please contact one of the OrCPS, there are many ways to help. Organizations/clubs/leagues with Disc Golf News they would like to get out the Oregon players please send the info to us and we will spread the good word. The first Winter point series had 101 players and 8 leagues and each player has friends who see the info on Disc Golf Scene as well. The summer season had 162 players from 14 leagues. Our largest State-wide point series is currently Michigan which first winter PS had 349 players in 15 leagues and last winter had 450 players in 32 leagues and last summer had 831 players in 42 leagues. At DGLA we hope to grow as we help grow disc golf leagues and you are a big part of that mission and success that benefits all disc golf players.

Points calculation:
The Point Series point calculation tries to encourage players to play often yet and yet not penalize those who cannot play more than once or twice a week. We also try to encourage all league to participate by a three tier approached based on league size for the points accrual – League below 20 players get a boast, league greater than 60 have a points cap.
During a week (Sunday to Saturday) points are calculated for each participating league round you play. The highest TWO point total from any participating league are added into your total and the others are "dropped". Winter Aces are worth 25 points even if that league round is dropped. League round points are basically calculated by adding 2 points for participation and one point for every player you beat and if there is no tie for first place the winner(s) gets 2 additional points for being the "Out Right Winner". Now that basic calculation are further adjusted to encourage small leagues and balance out larger leagues using three levels; 4-19 players, 20-59, and 60+ players. The points awarded are different for each group. The smaller league rounds will get a guaranteed max point total the same as 20 players, the middle size league round are calculated as described above and the larger league rounds have a cap with max points being set to 60 players - Details can be reviewed at www.discgolfleagueassociation.org
Scores must be entered the same as leagues determine payouts; If Divisions are used for payouts than scores must be entered by division. If handicaps are used for payouts then the handicap adjusted scores must be entered. (Disc Golf Scene is looking at offering a automated Handicap system which will bring more leagues into the point series and eventually maybe have point series for the different types of league formats - more when info is available - Thanks! Pete and Disc Golf Scene for all you do for all the disc golf players around the World!!!!!).
Cali - If there is one Cali in a double league they are counted as two players but if there is more than one Cali than they are only counted as one when calculating point totals. This ensures leagues can have special Cali rounds with multiple players playing Cali, but the point totals are accurate based on the number of actual players that played the round.
As always leagues can use their own points system or no point when entering league rounds, as the OrCPS points are calculated independently, allowing league more flexibility to continue with their legacy systems or try new point systems.
OrCPS automatically keeps your best TWO rounds per week (Sunday - Saturday) when calculating your OrCPS total points. This is automatically recalculated whenever new scores/rounds are posted or scores are updated. Get out and play as much as you can to increase your skill and maximize your points but if you are limited to how often you can play your goal would be to try and get at least two rounds per week.
Winter Aces: Worth 25 points – League Admin – this is automatically calculated so if you want to use a different point system for your individual league Aces you can.
DGLA will also be awarding some MDGO, Discraft Oregon State Championships berths for the OrCPS-Winter season. More ways to secure your berth and compete in another great Oregon state-wide disc golf event.
Disc Golf Scene has added weekly & monthly awards to your profile based on OrCPS rounds. That’s more Disc Golf Scene Bling for your profile.

From experience these end of the season events serve many purposes but the end result is it pulls the players who have been competing from afar a venue to come together and compete on the same course in one event, it also facilitates new ideas and connection between new and old friends. You never know what this could turn into in the future and you can say you were there, your were part of this Oregon history.
I'm looking forward to seeing the stats and how they compare to the season long stats. Enjoy

Here are the top Ten players listed in order of some key stats

No doubt the more rounds you play the great the point accumulation is as well as you learn to play in more conditions, courses, learn from more players and experience more courses hopefully.

Besides helping to spread the word about the many different leagues at differenc ecourses you can double up on points. This can really give a nice boost to your point total but most players will get at least one HLW so to really take advantage of the HLW us them as a great reason to travel to other leagues and courses and really maximize you point total.
Way to get out there Brandon Zastoupil with 6 HLW rounds.

You are a winner! Yes everyone wants to win and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out if you consistently win you will be at least near the top of the leaderboard. We had several players with several Wins but Rick Saffeels stands apart with over 12 more than anyone else with 20 total wins. Now in 16 weeks that definitely means multiple leagues - gee I think I see a trend...

Points per Round Average - for counted Rounds
Now not everyone can play multiple league rounds each week so another way to compare your play to others is to look at the Average points per round. Now since rounds can be dropped you can look at both only those counted or all rounds so I separate out these two stats. But in this case Albert "AJ" Ricker has the highest average and if he had managed more than 14 rounds the stats show he probably would have been even higher on the leaderboard but great play Albert "AJ" Ricker.

DGLA: Oregon Cooperative Point Series - Summer 2014
About this League
Point Series league - 157 total players

Less than Three weeks remaining.....Saturday July 26, 2014 is the last round.
Yes your local league(s) will probably continue but the DGLA OrCPS-Summer 2014 will wrap up, last points calculated and the Oregon Disc Golf League Summer State Champion 2014 will be Crowned.
Don't worry - You can spend the Fall fine tuning your game and preparing for the Winter season. OK hard to think about Winter while we are playing July rounds but it will be here whether we like it or not. I'd also like to plant the seed that DGLA is looking for some local players who would like to get more involved in keeping the Winter and Summer point series going. We would like to plan for adding an option to get a player package and awards for different achievements throughout the seasons as well as looking at how to continue to grow and improve the league and overall Disc Golf experience in Oregon.
If your interested in exploring the opportunity shot me a message and we can chat further. The possibilities are endless and together we can do amazing things to further Disc Golf.
Your feedback is always welcomed and appreciated. You never know where the next great idea will come from. We'd also like to hear if players are interested in adding a Player level option. The Point Series will remain free but to be able to provide player packages and awards money has to come from some place. DGLA is a Non-Profit organization. In the Michigan Cooperative Point Series we do a $30.00 Player level option. Player package consists of a Commemorative State Point Series disc and Glow Mini and Players member are eligible for awards based on achievement throughout the season. A small portion goes into a Course Improvement fund that members vote on how this funds are used fro creating or improving disc golf courses within their state. If you are interested in this also send or post a message so we can asses the interest of adding a Player level option. Corporate sponsors are also welcomed so if anyone has a connection we will promote a company who is interested in supporting Disc Golf leagues.

Ok you maybe surprised to see that the HLW next week is not in Salem next week. Yes next week the HLW is in Keizer, Keizer Rapids to be more exact. OK that is just about 6 miles from down town Salem according to Goggle maps.
Ok forgive me I'm still trying to understand the Disc Golf Scene in Oregon. I appreciate the messages that provide insights and your patience for my outsider ramblings. But to better understand what the landscape of Oregon leagues looks like I decide to use Salem as my reference to map out the rest of the leagues in the point series.
For the remaining 5 HLW here is what it looks like
Church Park - Sublimity 16 miles
Wheatland DGC @ Willamette Mission State Park - Gervais 12 miles
Dallas City Park - Dallas 15 miles
Woodmansee Park - Salem 0 miles
Wortman Park - McMinnville 27 miles
I then had to go back and look at the others previous HLW, otherwise I would have the idea that the only disc golf leagues were around Salem.
Bryant Park - Albany - 26 miles
Orchard Park, Hillsboro - 52 miles
Horning's Hideout - North Plains - 64 miles
Hood River DGC, Hood River - 109 miles
No doubt that if your within 30 miles of Salem you have the advantage of more leagues and more Double Point rounds. Hopefully the rest of you can do a little traveling - it's worth it for the fun and checking out different courses and leagues.
Ok next week here is the Highlighted League of the week

June is coming to a close. The June Leaderboard will end on the 28th and lock on the 30th ( lock means even if new rounds are posted for June after the leaderboard locks they will not update the monthly leaderboards) .
Who are the movers and shakes for June?
Nine rounds is the top so far. I predict that Brandon Zastoupil is probably near the Salem area. Well he is playing Cascades Gateway 5x, Woodmansee Park 2x, Corban College and even ventured out 64 miles to Horning's Hideout, North Plains. I like to see the travel, especially to hit a HLW. He actually got 4 HLW in June. NICE!
The THE "BEAST" OF THE WOODS & Lucky . are right behind him with 8.

Now Lucky . also got 5 leagues in so far in June, he sure is Lucky (sorry just had too - you saw it coming....) and Yes another Salem area player and 2 June HLWs:

Now the name of the game in a Point series is points and in the Month of June we have some heavy numbers shaking up the leaderboards.
I was surprised to see Steve Jones had no HLW double Points help in June so far but yet he managed to amass enough points to land at 5th overall for June with 138 points. Now we have already seen some of Brandon Zastoupil achievements this month, three HLWs and one of those was dropped since he raked up more points in two other leagues that week to be sitting at 145 points. Josh Jones is dedicated to 2014 Tuesday Twos @ Orchard Park - that is where all 4 of his rounds have been in June with one win for 36 points and one HLW and even thought it was not a 1st place win it got him 60 Points to help achieve his 154 points so far in June. Now very similar situation for Brody Cannon. Only 4 rounds in June and all at 2014 Tuesday Twos @ Orchard Park. Now Brody was in that 1st place spot for their HLW and so instead of 48 points he got DOUBLE - 96 points to help achieve his 186 points so far. Now if you don't win the HLW don't worry, just hit an ACE - that is what Albert "AJ" Ricker did. Yes all three players at the top of the Points leaderboard are playing 2014 Tuesday Twos @ Orchard Park. I guess you don't have to be in Salem to rack up the points.

Hey my Oregon Geography lesson is paying off for me to better understand the Oregon Disc Golf Scene.
Now I just need to get out to Oregon to play some of these great courses. I hope you all take advantage of so many great courses in Oregon and great clubs and leagues. Remember to thank and help out your league admin - that make it all possible week after week. Bring out a friend to league and share the fun.
Enjoy the Rounds - Peace

Winning - Is it Luck or Skill - the Win stats seem to indicate luck has nothing to do with it except in name. Yes Lucky . currently has the most league wins by a player in June with 3. Back to back at D.O.R.C.s (Day Of Rest Crew) & CCDG Sunday Random Doubles. Maybe he just likes Camp Taloali, Jerry Miller DGC. What ever it is it's working. Keep it up Lucky . Shaun Kirk & ROGUE RIDER are right there with 2 wins each so far in June.

The name of the game, or at least part of the name, in a point series game are the Points. Of the top ten in points this month
8 of 10 attended a HLW to get Double Points. Only 2, Steve Jones & Steven Winslow, got into the top 10, 4th & 9th respectively, old school.
Albert "AJ" Ricker - attended the 2014 Tuesday Twos HLW to get 44×2 = 88 points for 2nd place. Nice. Then the following week he went back and figured the 42 points for 3rd would not suffice so he also collected 25 points for his ACE on hole #3 of the temp course.

Dallas Trower is still our overall leader with 423 points from 24 rounds of which 5 were dropped and no HLW rounds yet, 5 wins, one Ace - Nice... I will not go through the who leaderboard player by player yet but one thing that stuck out was the two 9 round players in the top ten. Now the rest of the top ten have an average # of rounds of 22.5 per player. Brody Cannon & Albert "AJ" Ricker have managed to get into the top ten with only 9 rounds each at 2014 Tuesday Twos. Brody Cannon managed triple back to back wins and then a 4th win during the HLW to double up on points, 48×2 = 96 points.

For the month of June - so far - Brandon Zastoupil has the most rounds recorded with 6 rounds, putting him at the top of the Rounds leaderboard. Three way tie for 2nd currently - THE "BEAST" OF THE WOODS,Bo Hicks & dennis a with 4 each.
Now with 6 rounds you'd think it was probably not all at the same league and sure enough Brandon Zastoupil is our Disc Golf gypsy so far for June with 4 different leagues played:
Monday Night Handicap Singles
CCDG Sunday Random Doubles
D.O.R.C.s (Day Of Rest Crew)
Don't Be L8 - Simple Saturday Morning/Sunday Afternoon Singles $Six$
and grabbing some Double Points at D.O.R.C.s (Day Of Rest Crew)
Horning's Hideout, Canyon Course.
Another three way tie for 2nd on the Leagues leaderboard with THE "BEAST" OF THE WOODS,Lucky . & Ira B each with three.
Now not everyone can get in multiple rounds a week or travel to wonderful courses throughout the state, so when you do get out to play you hope you maximize your rounds. That is exactly what ROGUE RIDER did so far in June. With only Two rounds so far he won them both over the weekend to secure the top spot on the Wins leaderboard so far for June with Two wins.
Now can you really make two rounds pay off in points - Heck Yeah, as Brody Cannon demostrate to us all. Can you do some point damage with just one round. Take a win at a HLW, double the 48 points to 96, plus a third place finsh for 32 more points and your sitting at the top of the Points leaderboard like Brody with 128 points. Greg Schiller also played 2014 Tuesday Twos HLW and got the same 32 points the week before with Brody and that puts him in 2nd. now if you think there may be a trend there your right. Josh Jones, Andrew Nava, Albert "AJ" Ricker & Micahel Robinson, all collecting more than 90 points so far in June all played 2014 Tuesday Twos HLW. The next few were able to hit D.O.R.C.s (Day Of Rest Crew) HLW. Now Steve Jones had to do it Old School with three rounds including a win at Monday Night Handicap Singles, so watch out if he get out to a HLW.
1 Brody Cannon 128
2 Greg Schiller 104
3 Josh Jones 96
3 Andrew Nava 96
5 Albert "AJ" Ricker 92
6 Micahel Robinson 91
7 dennis a 82
8 Bo Hicks 80
9 Brandon Zastoupil 79
10 Steve Jones 78
So with about 6 weeks left in the OrCPS the current overall standings are looking like this:
All Leaderboards » Overall Points
Player Points Rounds
1 Dallas Trower 400 22
2 - scottishrob - 370 25
3 Rick Saffeels 359 20
4 Brody Cannon 350 8
5 L Bledsoe 279 22
6 Steve Jones 277 18
7 Brandon Zastoupil 269 20
8 THE "BEAST" OF THE WOODS 263 16
9 Andrew Nava 262 5
10 Albert "AJ" Ricker 258 8
11 Greg Schiller 238 7
12 Daneger Jones 234 18
13 Lucky . 231 20
14 Jonathan Long 226 15
15 Dave Clement 220 8
16 bryan van fleet 217 11
16 matthew schroeder 217 8
18 Josh Jones 212 8
19 Ira B 211 21
20 john cooper 204 14
Still plenty of Double Point rounds, League Wins and Aces to make a run for it by the end of the season.
Enjoy the Rounds - Peace.

Next week is June already and that mean the two months of Highlighted Leagues of the Week begin with Double points. Cha Ching!
I just added all the HLW to the Schedule.
For the OrCPS several of us need those double points to catch the leaders.
NOTE** We have a few Singles handicapped leagues in the OrCPS. To be part of the OrCPS the handicapped leagues must post rounds with the adjusted scores that payouts are based on. There are methods of posting the round strokes and the adjusted score. We know that these leagues need a few weeks to determine the handicaps. In June we will review these leagues to see if they are posting adjusted scores and if not we will have to remove them. We hope to have another option for handicapped leagues soon but for now our rules indicate that adjusted scores must be posted to make this as fair as possible with mixed type leagues in one point series.
Currently 134 points separate the tie for 9th place from 1st place. There is a shoot out in the top three - Dallas Trower 310 in third with only a 5 point gab to 2nd place. Close hugh but wait there is only a one point gap between 2nd and 1st, with - scottishrob - in second with 22 rounds in and Rick Saffeels with 316pts in only 17 rounds, it's neck in neck and we have two months till the finish line and some double points rounds to shake things up.
Well that gap could be erased with a couple double point league wins or it could be extended - How will the season wind-up? Anything can happen - play hard, have fun and stay tuned.
Several players are getting their rounds in this month with - scottishrob - with the most so far in May with 12:
Rounds
1 - scottishrob - 12
2 Lucky . 11
2 Dallas Trower 11
4 L Bledsoe 10
5 Rick Saffeels 9
5 Steve Jones 9
5 Brandon Zastoupil 9
8 Daneger Jones 8
8 Jonathan Long 8
10 Travis Towne 7
Some of those same players are travelling Disc Golf Gypsies such as Lucky . making it to 6 different leagues so far this month.
Leagues
1 Lucky . 6
2 Ira B 5
3 THE "BEAST" OF THE WOODS 4
3 L Bledsoe 4
3 - scottishrob - 4
3 Dallas Trower 4
7 bryan van fleet 3

7 Travis Towne 3
7 Brandon Zastoupil 3
7 Erik Gyllenskog 3
7 Daneger Jones 3
7 Jonathan Long 3
7 ROGUE RIDER 3
It great when you make the most out of a round and Rick Saffeels took 5 of his 8 rounds for max points with Wins so far this month.
Wins
1 Rick Saffeels 5
2 Brody Cannon 3
2 Dallas Trower 3
2 - scottishrob - 3
5 luke tichinin 2

8 Dave Clement 1
8 Estherhouse - 1
8 Nick Orr 1
8 THE "BEAST" OF THE WOODS 1
8 Lucky . 1
8 Kalib A. 1
Now you don't have to win each round to earn the most points. Example take 8 rounds, with 3 wins, 1 2nd, 1 3rd place finish, throw in a ACE at Monday Night Handicap Singles - Cascades Gateway - Regular tees, Hole 1. Nice Shot Dallas Trower - That is how you can amass 214 points in a month. - Nicely Done

From the director:
All players in SFDG events are encouraged to follow ALL
PDGA rules. We are a laid back club for sure, but we need
to keep some order as people are paying money to compete
in our events. Please remove your disc from the basket quickly
after landing your putt. Please stay out of sight of people putting.
Please stay quiet on the tee. Please bring free beer.
We do have a lot of fun on Saturdays, and we don't need any
rule nazis acting like madonnas at our events, but lets try our best to keep our game play clean, and purdy. Thank you.

This is where we highlight a league to ensure player throughout the state know what other leagues are doing as well as encourage players to travel and check out new courses and how league are run at different locations - That alone is worth a little drive time but Double Points! makes it that much more interesting.
Some clubs will have extra fun scheduled and you will want to check the specific league pages before travelling in case there are last minute changes.
Reminder to post and see about sharing a ride and sharing the experience.
On the OrCPS Schedule dates with "Double Points!" and highlighted in green indicate HLW.
If leagues/clubs have special information they would like mentioned in the post please send them at least a week in advance. I will try to send out a summary of the next weeks HLW each week in June and July.
You can see all of the HLW on the schedule here: http://www.discgolfscene.com/leagues/DGLA_Oregon_Cooperative_Point_Series_Summer_2014/schedule

Plan your summer of disc golf League - get out and see those other courses you've been wanting to visit and get Double Points and Double the Fun.

So the Spring is finally starting to take shape and the Oregon Cooperative Point Series Summer season is starting to heat up as well. So the Spring is finally starting to take shape and the Oregon Cooperative Point Series Summer season is starting to heat up as well. Just a few weeks in and the leaderboard is already highlighting some of the great state talent. We'll take a peek at the leaderboard to check out what's Hot and Who is shooting it. I also like to see who the disc golf gypsies are? You know those players that are always going some place new to play, they know all the courses and always have stories to tell. Man we are blessed to have so many courses throughout the state with more each year which is also the case with leagues; Singles, doubles, putting, bag tags, skins, safari, glow,....Oh do we know how to have fun.....
I know I have posted this in almost every message that after May 3rd the OrCPS-Summer locks and no new leagues can be added. But still after May 3rd I know I will get a few message that say "hey can you please add our league to the OrCPS, we have players who are asking about getting points for their rounds?" and it kills me to say SORRY. That is why I try so hard to avoid having to say that - so I ask you to bare with me. It's just one of those rules that helps make this work, and fair to the 107 players who are already playing in the 15 leagues we have so far - but we look forward to adding your league next season.....
On May 15th I will randomly assign a Highlighted League of the Week date on the OrCPS schedule for each participating league. At that round points will be Doubled. And that normally means that more players are attending and so it becomes a Point Bonanza. Watch the schedule and note the posts to secure as many points and have a great reason to travel to other courses and play other leagues - Road Trip - Car Pool - Double the fun!
If you run a league and you have a special date in June or July send it to me by May 15th and I will use that instead of randomly assigning your Highlighted League of the Week (HLW). Also you can send me any special details about your league or plans for that round and I will add it to my highlight so everyone in the OrCPS has a chance to see what is going on throughout the state in advance of the event.
If you have not already secured your currently FREE DGLA lifetime membership now is a great time to secure one of the lower numbers.

OK now most that venture into my kind of long winded - grammar challenged posts know I like to dig into the stats and look for trends - now that a bunch of the administrative things are done I can devote a little effort to that here and in future posts. Did I mention the OrCPS locks on May 3rd....
OK so I like to start with the weekly leaderboards to see who is playing the most and who is collecting the most points. These leaderboards have a few surprises from time to time but are a good indicator of who the top performers are even if they can not continue for the whole season.
The most rounds played in a week for April was, Ira B with 5 rounds and with 4 rounds is Lucky . & Ira B . The list is getting to long at two rounds so here are the top players per week :
April Round leaders above 2 rounds per week
1 Lucky . 4
1 Ira B 4
3 john cooper 3
3 scotty don't- make putts 3
3 Rick Saffeels 3
3 - scottishrob - 3
1 Ira B 5
2 L Bledsoe 3
1 - scottishrob - 3
1 Dallas Trower 3
Now the more you play the better your odds that your point total will climb faster since you have the opportunity to maximize your two best rounds for the week. But what are the biggest point combinations achieved each week?
Well the most points amassed by a player in a given week in April was 71 pts - now that was actually achieved in just two rounds, of course it helps to hit an Ace to collect 25 extra points. Scott Hill did this at 2014 Tuesday Twos, Orchard Park and also collected $91. Nicely done Scott. Lucky . best week was 53 pts with out of his 4 rounds he had two win, one at Tuesday 2s, Woodmansee Park. Rick Saffeels collected 52 pts with a win at D.O.R.C.s (Day Of Rest Crew), Cascades Gateway. Well played guys.
1 Scott Hill 71
2 Lucky . 53
3 Rick Saffeels 52
Top point totals by week:
1 Scott Hill 71
2 Lucky . 53
3 Rick Saffeels 52
4 Nick Marshall 46
4 Stephen Sines 46
1 luis nava 46
2 Ira B 44
2 Rick Saffeels 44
4 Josh"bang chains" Bullock 43
1 marshall d 40
2 THE "BEAST" OF THE WOODS 37
2 Rick Saffeels 37
4 Steven Winslow 36
1 Dennis "Swami" Swanson 44
2 Steven Egler 41
3 Dallas Trower 40
4 - scottishrob - 38
The April monthly leaderboard currently only has three weeks since the last week is split between April and May so with just three of the April weeks the most league wins belongs to Rick Saffeels with 4 - Don't Be L8 - Simple Saturday Morning/Sunday Afternoon Singles $Six$, Woodmansee Park, Monday Night Handicap Singles, Cascades Gateway, D.O.R.C.s (Day Of Rest Crew), Keizer Rapids & at Friday Frolfers - Camp to Camp, Camp Taloali, Jerry Miller DGC.
Ira B was just behind him with 3 win; Friday Night Singles at Dallas City Park, Dallas City Park, D.O.R.C.s (Day Of Rest Crew), Woodmansee Park & CCDG Sunday Random Doubles, Woodmansee Park. Nicely done
Wins
1 Rick Saffeels 4
2 Ira B 3
3 - scottishrob - 2
3 L Bledsoe 2
3 john cooper 2
3 Erik "Easy E" Etherton 2
7 AGRO JACKSON 1
7 Dylan J Helphingstine 1
7 Dylan Powers 1
7 Victor Cervantes 1
7 luis nava 1
7 Terry Shuler 1
7 Dallas Trower 1
7 THE "BEAST" OF THE WOODS 1
I love to see players get out to several different leagues. This helps spread the good ideas and make the rounds more fun for everyone. I just dream of being able to get out that much so I live my disc golf dream vicariously through these Disc Golf Gypsies. Ira B managed to get to 5 different leagues in these three weeks. Man are we lucky with the number of leagues throughout the week in so many areas.
Leagues
1 Ira B 5
2 Rick Saffeels 4
3 Erik Hayworth 3
3 Daneger Jones 3
3 Jonathan Long 3
3 THE "BEAST" OF THE WOODS 3
3 Dallas Trower 3
3 - scottishrob - 3
3 L Bledsoe 3
3 AGRO JACKSON 3
Not everyone can play 3-5 times a week and that is why we try and balance things out by keeping just the two best rounds per week but if you can get not only should your game improve but the point total should be maximized each week. So watch for L Bledsoe lurking in the wood near you and taking home all those points with 8 rounds in three weeks this guy is the Oregon Disc Golf Gypsy of the month for April.
Rounds
1 L Bledsoe 8
2 - scottishrob - 7
2 Ira B 7
4 THE "BEAST" OF THE WOODS 5
4 Rick Saffeels 5
4 Dallas Trower 5
4 Paul Petitt 5
4 marshall d 5
4 Dennis "Swami" Swanson 5
4 john cooper 5
4 Daneger Jones 5
Now the ultimate goal of the point Series is points and for these three weeks of April 104 points was the highest accrual achieved by Rick Saffeels. Followed closely by L Bledsoe with 99.
Points
1 Rick Saffeels 104
2 L Bledsoe 99
3 - scottishrob - 85
4 marshall d 82
5 THE "BEAST" OF THE WOODS 81
6 john cooper 77
7 Dallas Trower 76
8 Ira B 69
9 Rich ayers 68
10 Dennis "Swami" Swanson
So what did this do to the overall standing to date?
About 85 points separates 20th place from 1st place so anything can happen with three months left in the season. Even tighter between 20th and 10th with an 11 point spread. Current tied for 10th at 82 pts is luis nava and AGRO JACKSON with luis making the most of his two rounds at 2014 Tuesday Twos, Orchard Park. but during the same two rounds Andrew Nava managed to squeez out 2 extra points to own 9th solo. Lurking in the shadows is THE "BEAST" OF THE WOODS who had a great winter season and is sure to be making his presence know in the leaderboard all season and currently at 8th place with 91pts. Add three more points and your at 7th place and marshall d with 94. Cresting the 100 point mark and into 6th place john cooper at 105 with 2 1st place wins at CCDG Sunday Random Doubles, Dallas City Park. Now with 4 wins and 11 rounds Ira B is in 4th with 109pts. Only 2 pts ahead but up to 4th place is L Bledsoe with 9 rounds, two back to back wins at D.O.R.C.s (Day Of Rest Crew) currently at 111pts. Another 2 pt small margin to lock in at 3rd Dallas Trower with only 7 rounds but a win at Friday Frolfers - Camp to Camp, Camp Dakota. I little larger gap seperates 2nd with a whole whopping 13pt, and a point total of 126 after 10 rounds - scottishrob - is challenging for first. Rick Saffeels has a 30 pt buffer to command the top spot in first place - our Winter season champion is still showing strong. I think he was worried about getting out enough with his summer duties but so far he is getting the job done. Now the spread is still very narrow so anything can happened and I expect to see some new names making an appearance on the top leaderboard before this season is over but for now - these guys have been getting it done - Nice play - Whoot Whoot!

DGLA: Oregon Cooperative Point Series - Summer 2014
16 week State Wide Disc Golf League Point Series
Sunday April 6th 2014 - Saturday July 26th 2014
Important Deadlines:
*** May 3rd - Last day to add any leagues to the Oregon Cooperative Point Series.
*** May 14th - Last day for leagues to submit their desired Highlighted League of the Week (HLW) - Double Points - round.
May 15th - The remaining league HLW dates will be assigned randomly.
June and July:
HLW will be shown on the schedule - Highlighted in light Green and "Double Points!" to the right.
July 26th - Last round of the Point Series. Leagues have one week to post recent rounds or make any corrections to previous rounds posted. Then the Champion will be announced.
If you play in a league that is not in the OrCPS send me the link to the league About page to see if it can be added. Even leagues that have not started but will have rounds before July 26th can join as long as the league is already posted. All leagues must be added by May 3rd. Handicapped leagues must post adjusted scores to be included.
Currently 15 Leagues & 102 Players have already played in participating Leagues.
If you played a league round and do not see the round in your DGLA OrCPS stats: 1) Check the league to see if that round has been posted.
2) If it is posted ensure you are linked to the league properly (Check you profile to see if the round shows on your About page or Stats page)
3) Send me a link to the league leaderboard and tell me which date and I will investigate.
I have had a few question about points calculations and "Dropped" rounds.
Point Calculation Summary - The standard calculation is 2 points for participation, 1 point for each player you beat (ties do not count as beat) and 2 points if you are the outright winner (no tie for first). Now for leagues less than 20 players. The points are awarded from the top down, so even a league with 4 players the winner gets points as if there was 20 and then it counts down. More than 60 players the points are capped at 60. HLW use the same formula but double the result.
Aces count for 25 pts. not double during HLW.
"Dropped" Rounds:
If you see "Dropped" next to a round on your DGLA OrCPS Stats page this means you played more than 2 rounds in that week and this was not one of your two highest scores and so it was dropped. It still counts towards # of Leagues & Rounds leaderboards.

* Highlighted League of the Week (HLW)
************
Throughout June and July we will be updating the Point Series Schedule to give Double Points to each league. We try and highlight the league to help players know what other leagues are doing and to give the players some added motivation to travel and experience these other leagues and other courses.
If leagues have any special events or dates that they want to have their HLW on or to avoid let Foz know. Otherwise I will be randomly assigning them before May 15th.
You can identify HLW on the schedule. They are highlighted and Say "Double points!" off to the right.
Also if your league wants a specific date for their HLW (Double Points) let me know.

You can become a DGLA member by going to the Disc Golf League Association website for more info or to register:

As a player in the OrCPS-S you represent the core Oregon Disc Golf players and you can really help make this sport better. Help pass along the Disc Golf etiquette that makes rounds fun and fair for all in a positive and constructive manner.
Enjoy the warmer rounds - Peace
