Next League - Update

Hi - I'm planning to keep this league going, with another Tuesday sanctioned singles, probably starting next week. Ace Pot, which was not hit this league, will carry over to this league.

Here are the changes:

No Alcantra or Girdwood rounds - those saw sparse attendance and even I had some trouble getting out for them. Too much travel for a Tuesday night. League will by default alternate between Peter's Creek and Davis.

May cycle in a Kincaid round - we didn't have huge ... more

Oh, also week 10 payouts will be going out in the next couple of days.

REMINDER - Week 10 date change

Noon tomorrow (Saturday July 10) at Peter's Creek! Hoping to get a great turnout for the final week of league - ace pot is at $120 plus however many people show up tomorrow. Let me know you're coming/prepay if you can!

I plan to get the results/payouts for week 9 out today.

I'll be there. My better half Engineer gave me a heads up that there may be traffic issues due to construction. not sure which directions it will effect but maybe give yourself a buffer commute time

Kristin White   July 10, 2021 at 1:57am

Yeah, it's happened a couple times coming to league, and they had a "late tee time" card to make up for it luckily. But I agree, leave an extra 15-20 minutes for traffic.

ALERT - FINAL WEEK DATE CHANGE

Is anyone really married to Tuesday nights? If not, I'd like to propose making the final league week this Saturday, July 10. The reason we don't have this on Saturdays is that there are tournaments, but there's no Alaska tourney this weekend. Figure this will allow more people to play. Speak now or forever hold your PC.

Week 9 - Davis Park

Don't forget to get signed up for leagues at Davis tonight! I suck in the rain, so I'll be spilling tons of ratings points all over the course. Come pick some up!

Joe Caissie   July 6, 2021 at 10:58pm

Actually the rain seems to be holding off for a few hours, just enough to get our round in. Come...not get rained on!

Joe Caissie   July 6, 2021 at 12:20am

Weak 8

I guess the 8 who came out are not the weak ones! Come on, you all didn't want to drive out to Wasilla for the fifth time in six days?

But seriously, smaller turnout this week - and a pretty compressed field of scores. Marshall and Andrew tied for first in A Pool, and Kristin took B Pool running away. The real winners were the mosquitoes, who feasted on my bare legs all evening.

I'm finally recovered from the four rounds in one day at Davis enough to start taking your entries f ... more

If you're coming tonight, try to let me know!

Payouts for week 7 are mostly out - if anyone knows how I can get money to Conner or Robin, text me or email me.

Week 8 - Alcantra!

Hi, folks - will be getting last week's weighted scores up and payouts soon. Just a reminder that we'll be at Alcantra this week (Tuesday) - those lines will seem downright fair to those of us who played at Meier Lake this weekend. Also, league dues this week will be supporting MSDGA, so valley folks, come on out! Ace pot is now over $100, and there are lots of aces to be had at Alcan, so let's get a big turnout!

Week 7 - Girdwood!

Payment has gone out to people who have an electronic form of payment! Let me know if you're coming to Girdwood this week - we'll start at 6:45, but if you can't get out there until later, let me know and we can have a 7:00 or 7:15 starting card. Hope to see plenty of you out there! Prime ace pot course, and we'll probably be up over $100 in the ace pool this week!

Week 6 Recap, Girdwood week 7!

Beautiful day for disc golf on Tuesday, and we all ruined it by shooting terribly! Only one player (Jake) under par! But Davis is tough, and I hope we all had fun at least.

Andrew Rodgers took down A Pool with a 58 raw score, shooting even on the front 9, and keeping the back damage to a minimum. Will Graham edged me out both score and adjusted-scorewise for second.

Kristin White continued her dominance of the handicap league with a very nice 69. Enjoy the victories because that ra ... more

Oops, sorry - major flip-flop: Will's rating changed with the last update; he actually came in first this week in A Pool. That'll be reflected on the leaderboard.

Week 5 Recap Briefly

Hi, folks - just got the scores up and the payouts - those will go out at some point in the next couple of days, probably with the week 6 payouts. 4-round tournaments in Nikiski put me a little behind.

Nice work to Chad McCaffrey and Chet Manley, taking down B and A Pools, respectively. Chad and some other folks managed to ruin the ratings for this week - boy were they rough! Nice shooting though! Check the spreadsheet here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/153TNvSWrV3W4d0edE8g7ijwDfy4_e5DOBMxtQB8Yh4k/edit#gid=0

Just a reminder to everyone that leagues are tomorrow at 6:30 - Davis Park! I'll get scores, payouts, and a recap from Week 5 up later tonight.

Week 5 - Peter's Creek

I'll be there, and so will you hopefully! Let me know if you're coming and if there's any issue getting there right at 6:30 we can do a later card start. Carpool if you can, because last time the lot was pretty packed. Ratings will be updated tonight, so your handicap may change a bit from a few weeks ago.

Payouts for Week 4 should be going out shortly, unless I don't have your Venmo/Paypal.

Week 4 Recap

Hi folks - I apologize for the cluster that Week 4 turned into. I was unexpectedly pulled away so I couldn't be there in person, and then even my plans to manage the league remotely were waylaid. We still got 10 people out, and I hope you all had fun. I'll try and make the recap full of puns in order to make up for this.

Marshal Morris didn't blow his one shot - he captured it by shooting a 49 and taking down A Pool. Tom Voight would have been The Champ in a non-handicap league ... more

Week 4 - Alcantra!

Make sure to let me know you'll be there this week - remember as is always true, both ADGA and MSDGA members get the lower entry fee of $8. Tell your valley friends to be there - 6:45 tee-off time, and we could have a group or two start later if necessary, if you'll take a little while getting there from Anchorage.

Week 3 payout/Week 4 update

Hi folks - due to a personal issue, Week 3 payouts have not gone out yet and I will not be there in person Week 4. I'll get those payouts out in the next couple days - but in the meantime sign up for Week 4 like regular. It'll be up at AlCan. We'll start at 6:45, but if you need until 7 or a little later to get up there, I think we can arrange for later start times - the rounds have been going really quickly. You have to let me know though - text works best (Nine Oh Seven) 360-2923.

Week 3 Recap

Just 14 folks came out to Girdwood this week - would have liked to see more, but turns out that the 2.5-hour return trip means the ones who didn't come out were the smart ones, apparently.

Adam Cooper took down A pool with a very solid 50. Aaron Ressler justified his high rating with a league-best 47, and finished in the cash.

Irvin Godina shot well above his rating, and took down B Pool with a solid 51, and Hunter continued his hot play to take second with a 50. Next ratings update ... more

Week 3 reminder

Sanctioned singles is at Girdwood this Tuesday! We're extending the start time forward just a smidge to 6:45 because of the long drive - if you're going to have trouble making it precisely on time, just let me know and we'll try to accommodate. We might be able to do a later-starting card or two for someone who can't get down until 7. Most important thing is to let me know if you're coming!

Week 2 Recap

Great weather and great disc golf on a much-more-difficult Peter's Creek last night! 20 folks made it out.

Justin Dunker just annihilated the course and the rest of the field with a 48, 5 strokes better than anyone else. That was also enough to pick up the handicap adjusted win in A Pool as well. Hunter Thompson also shot a really hot round that would have won almost any other week, but was good for second.

Week 1 Recap, Week 2

Off the top, everyone let me know if you're coming out to week 2 - we'll be at Peter's Creek. Be there and in the parking lot by 6:15 so we can draw hole assignments. Just a reminder of how the pools are done, I split the pools into the top half of the ratings and the bottom half. Then within each pool, the handicapped scores are calculated and compared. If you're between like 860-900 in rating, you'll probably end up floating between the two different pools depending on ... more

Week 2 Plans

Hey, folks, I don't want to do Davis Park two weeks in a row, so I'm thinking next week it might be cool to play Peter's Creek. I'll chat with some people tomorrow to make sure that works, but just wanted to give people a head's up.
