I was planning to do one more putting league this week, but there's a meeting about Hickory Hills tonight, so I'll be headed there. It's getting warmer and brighter out, so we can all get outside more anyway. Thanks for everyone who came over especially during those frigid weeks.
At this point the 5-person round robin format is well-established, and it leaves good time for a side game for a few extra bucks.
Upcoming events in the north:
March 1 is the Ice Bowl at Kalkaska: random doubles for 25 dollars or 35 pounds of non perishable foods.
March 8 at Pioneer Trail Park is the first sanctioned event in the UP that you won't be able to see the bridge from.
April 12 is the first Northern Waters Series tournament of 2015 at Diggins Hill in Cadillac. Hopefully we get better weather than we did at the first event last year.
Big scoring update with league coming tomorrow. With 5 we've done round robin singles matches. With 4 we did round robin doubles matches to seed a final best of three doubles match. With 7 we did triple elimination and Glen coasted through without a loss.
Have to get creative with the format when we have only three people. We did singles to 21, two points for 1st, one for 2nd, first person with two wins takes all, basically finals of the normal format from the get-go. We were evenly matched apparently, as after three games everyone had won once, lost once, and finished in the middle once. We're going to do double points if we have 6 or fewer people from now on.
I've been pretty unambitious about posting results given the attendance. Maybe if we can get it to double digits I'll update every week.
Host wins singles putting without a loss two weeks in a row. Rick Boyd won poker with a full house though. Daylight Savings Time ends on Sunday though, cabrons.
Since we only had 6 players for the first week we played singles. The host swept the rounds and poker with three pair, also known as two pair and a 5. Defending champion Matt Powers did not show up to claim his trophy.
Too nice out, played the backyard and POW POW likes the new bigscreen... Next Tuesday
The Return of putting league in my garage is scheduled for next Tuesday at 6:30. Moving it to Tuesday should let us play every week given how the holidays fall this year.
check your date on Diggins Hills. NWS has it the 18th
