About this league

Welcome to the first ever PFD Highlander Series – There Can Be Only One.

This tournament is a season long, double-elimination match-play event. There is only one open division consisting of 128 players.

This event is a fundraiser for the Pro PFDO with an entry fee of $10. The money will be distributed as shown below if we get a full field. Payouts are shown at the end.
$600 to Pro PFDO
$640 to tournament payout
$40 for a trophy

All matches are required to be played at the following courses from the tees noted below:
Deer Lakes Park – White tees
Moraine State Park – Blue tees
North Boundary Park – Blue tees
Knob Hill Park – White tees
Schenley Park – White tees

Matches will start on or about March 29, 2021, and the final will be on or before October 10, 2021.

Initial matchups will be assigned by having each player play the opponent with the next higher-or-lower player rating. This means the best will play the best and the lowest rated will play the lowest rated. From there, the tournament will progress using the bracket attached in the photos section of this event.

Players will receive an email from the tournament email account assigning their match and setting a 2-week window during which the players must play their match. The email will assign a player 1 and player 2. Player 1 must propose 2 of the courses from the list above. Player 2 must choose one of the two courses and propose four dates for the match. Player 1 must select one of the 4 dates for the match and a time shall be agreed upon.

Each match will consist of 18 holes at the aforementioned course and will follow the PDGA’s official rules for match play found in Appendix A of the PDGA’s official rules. https://www.pdga.com/rules/official-rules-disc-golf/appendix-a There can be no ties in this event; therefore, all ties shall be settled immediately with a sudden death playoff.

If Player 1 fails to propose two courses they forfeit the match. If Player 2 fails to select a course and propose 4 dates, they forfeit the match. If Player 1 fails to select a date and time, they forfeit the match. If neither Player 1 or Player 2 contact the tournament by email to report a score or forfeit prior to the scheduled round completion date, the match will count as two losses (automatic elimination) for both Player 1 and Player 2.

After the match, it is the responsibility of the winning player to report the score to the Tournament Email Address ([email redacted]).

The championship and semi-final rounds may be set by the tournament director at a course of the Tournament Director’s choosing and on a date convenient for the Tournament Director and participants.
