Guys there is a county Parks and Rec meeting tonite regarding the future use and development of county parks. May be more beneficial for y'all to attend the meeting because it's the first step to gaining more courses in the county. If you can't make the meeting, consider voicing your opinion on-line. This is a great opportunity to tell the county that you want more disc golf cpurses in the county. I'm currently in FL and can't attend the meeting, I have no idea who's going where, just thought it would be good to post something here to let folk know about the county meeting.

Any way I look at it having another course in the county is a GREAT THING!!!!!. Money and maintenance are things to worry about while the course is being put in. Let's do every thing we can to get another course or two in the county. If the state wants to put one let them and we ( the club ) will help as we can and if the County wants to put one also then we help with that as well. I believe that we are at a crucial point for all us right now. We have momentum with club interest, Arthritis Tournament and we have Churchville behind us. Its coming together. Let ride the wave as far as we can. I said in the first meeting "I want to wake up Sunday morning and have to decide which course I want to play today." I know we can make it happen.

What's your point Josh? Do you want another course in H.C. or not? I understand the limitations/constraints at a SP, but if you read the state's assessment, there isn't much they can do with the land by way of recreation. The soil isn't ideal for camping or playgrounds. It would be great to have another course mere miles from the Hills. $2 is cheap and people go to state parks all the time for other activities and pay more in out-of-state fees to go to DE courses.

The state asked for comment so I commented. Anyone can show interest and voice their opinion, it's called democracy. If you think it's a bad idea, than tell the State Park Manager. If you think a course in Palmer SP is a good idea, then send an email to the email address provided below and listed on the State Park website. You don't have to agree with me, that's the beauty of democracy. I ask everyone not to worry about things that are outside of the public's control. Let's try and get a course in before we get all wrapped up in what-ifs and the downside of it. The only services that I offered from the club was to survey the land, propose a course layout, and possibly solicit local businesses for sponsorships.

Someone by the name of Frankie says, "Let us hear from you if you want more disc golf courses ..." If you want more courses in Harford County, here's your opportunity to tell the county. Speak up, practice democracy, and have a say in how the county utilizes tax dollars on recreational activities! Ya'll know I already submitted a response. The worst they can say is "No" so why not pose the question? Submit comments to the blog, not here, I'm sure county officials aren't reading this thread.

I'm not sure if you were aware of a new state park scheduled for development in Harford County, Palmer State Park. It's a few miles up the road from Scarboro (turn left at the end of the drive, head toward Rt 1. Rather than turning right or left, continue straight on Trappe Road, then turn right on Forge Hill Road). A parking lot is projected off of Forge Hill Road. I know some of you may have interest as either a Harford County resident or somone who enjoys state parks. The state believes the soil type will not support playgrounds or campgrounds, but will support trail activities. Disc golf??? Not sure. The state says only activities with low environmental impact. There are 40 acres of fields available and the state recommends the procurement of additional land surrounding the park.

While more course sites are always welcomed there will need to be two things to consider in a State Park. The first issue that I feel may kill any desire is that being a State Park, it would be a "Pay to Play" course. If memory serves me correct any state park cost 2 dollars to park at. Would this be the case at this park? I dunno, but food for thought. The other problem would be it would be the state that any work would have to go through, mowing for example. If memory serves me a number of disc golf courses in state parks have had issues on such maintaince issues. Again this may not be the case (the club may be able to do the work) however things to consider if we show interest.
