About this league

2017 League for North Strabane Park will be a handicap league where you get 80% of your last 3 scores for your handicap (described below). This benefits the brand new, quickly improving player, as well as the seasoned consistent player. League will be Wednesdays @ 5:15pm starting April 12 and running until Sept 27th. It will only be a $5 entry each week. $1 towards ace pot, $1 towards WDGA, $3 towards payouts. The league will also be a point series (continue reading below). ARRIVE EARLY SO WE CAN START AT 5:15. THIS WILL BE VERY IMPORTANT FOR THE FIRST FEW WEEKS.

Ex: Thor shoots a 60 in all 3 of his handicap rounds. This is an average of 2 over par at North Strabane. 80% of 2 over is 1.6. You receive the whole number in strokes. In this case, Thor will take 1 stroke off of his raw score. In the event of a tie, the player with the higher handicap wins, as they overcame more to reach the tie. If both players received the same amount of strokes, it will go to the decimal. Again, the player with the lower number will win. A handicap of 2.67 will beat a handicap of 2.15 in a tiebreaker. Unless the players or a player is giving up strokes and is negative handicap. In that case a -2.15 would beat a -2.67.

You must have a handicap to be eligible for payouts. If you are not going to be a regular attendee to league, I would try to at least get your handicap rounds in so that when you show up you are eligible for payouts. Before April 12, you need to have 3 rounds reported to Dave or Brad so that we can have the handicaps ready for the 12th. Handicap Rounds cost $5 each, so there is a $15 "buy-in." This is how we get funds for the league so that we can do the fun events later.

The top handicap scores, (not raw score) each week will earn a cash payout. The payout amount and amount of people paid will depend on the number of participants that week.

The point series aspect of this league will determine the league winner at the end of the year. You will receive 1 point for every player that you beat that week. Ex: Thor comes in first on a week where 10 people show up. Thor receives 9 points. There will be opportunities to gain extra points as well (bring a new player during specified weeks and receive "x" amount of extra points that week).

We will have fun rounds scattered throughout as well. There will still be buy-ins and payouts for these as well. Examples include Doubles, Single hole skins, Alt shot doubles, Single disc rounds, battle golf, and glow golf (Glow golf will happen on a Friday). Some of these will be raw score and some may use your handicap but scores will not count towards regular handicap rounds. Formats are subject to change as we try to grow the league and make changes to make it more competitive and fun for EVERYONE.

NEW PLAYERS AT ANY POINT AFTER LEAGUE PLAY HAS BEGUN:
If you show up to a league night and do not have a handicap, you have 2 options:
1.) Pay $15 for league entry fee (3 handicap rounds at $5 each) + the fee for the current round (total of $20 for the day). If this is your choice, we will look at your PDGA rating. Any player rated 980+ will be given a -10 handicap. 970-979 will be a -9 handicap. 960-969 will be -8. 950-959 will be -7 and so on. If you do not have a PDGA rating and we can not verify an average score for you, the default will be -5. In this option you ARE eligible for the Ace Pot.

2.) Pay the entry fee for just the league round ($4). Your handicap will be determined using the method in option 1. If you choose option 2, you WILL NOT be eligible for the Ace Pot.

Thank you,
-WDGA
