As of this Wednesday we will be losing our dear Brandon Butler , who will be following his career to the next level.
The good news is we are adding new ideas and added incentives for our league . I have got a food sponsorship froma local bar
L S Discs will be sponsoring the league so we will have sweet merchandise for the club . Finally the last but sweetest by far is once a month we will have a mini tourney ( unsanctioned one round ) called a monthly with a cost of 20$ dollars which all players will receive a players pack in am divisions and as always pros play for the cash .

The Church League really made it a blast to be there and they gave away a pair of shoes . who would argue with getting shoes for coming to doubles league . Just hope we can get our league to that level

On a personal note, I want to say I have had fun golfing with everybody on Wednesday nights for the past year. I am glad I met all of you and hopefully we will golf again in the future. I will be moving to St. Louis for work in the coming weeks so yesterday was probably my last day at league. I wish everyone the best of luck in golf and life!

Update If you haven't heard, we have 3 berths for the 2011 Michigan State Championship. The berths will be awarded based on points. The last round that points will count toward berths will be July 27th.
The following week, on August 3rd, the golfer with the most points will be awarded a berthOverall winnner prior to States wins a berth. If winner has a berth already, it will pass down. The next 6 golfers will random draw for teams and play a 9-hole round after the league round. The members of the winning team each get a berth. In the event of a tie the teams will play sudden death holes until there is a winner.
If there is a tie for first place in points we will do a CTP, winner takes the berth and loser is included in the next 6 in points.
If anybody declines a berth or the chance at a berth we will move down the list to fill any spots as needed.
You have 10 weeks of golf left to rack up as many points as you can. See you next Wednesday!

If you missed the Classic, want some more, or need revenge, we plan on playing the long tees from the Classic this Wednesday. Holes 2, 5, 7, 8, 9, and 17 will be playing long tees unless specified otherwise before the round.
We will try to have the tees clearly marked with paint, but at the very least we will have flags in place.
Forecast calls for a sunny 95 degrees, so remember to stay hydrated!

It is still about 5 weeks off, but the 2011 Metro Detroit Disc Golf League Wednesday Night Doubles will be starting the Wednesday after Daylight Savings Time begins, which will be the 16th of March. We plan on using the same format as last year, $5 buy-in $2 ace pool, random-draw. We will start the 2011 season with a nice $179 in the ace pool which will pay out HALF when it is hit.
Brandon Butler and myself, Doug Watson, will be taking care of money, payouts, scoring, etc.
Kurt Maty will continue to run longest putt on hole 1 and will do $1 CTP on hole 10, and possibly more side games.
Joe Wallo will also be doing a $1 CTP and possibly more side games.
We also have some berths for the 2011 Michigan State Championship up for grabs this year. It is still TBD how they will be awarded.
Let's have a kick ass year. See you in March!

The past two years we have tried various formats of play to see where the interest was. It was evident that two types of players were showing up, those that wanted to play for prize money and those that just wanted to have a casual competitive night playing disc golf. This year there will be two separate divisions of play. Kurt Maty will be running the Best Shot Doubles Division and Victor Lenivov will be running the Casual but competitive play division. We are here to provide a place for the areas disc golf players to enjoy competition against their fellow disc golfers.
