I was told by a ranger today that there is a new rule regarding smoking/vaping on MNCPPC parks. A new rule has been passed by the Maryland Assembly forbidding smoking/vaping on MNCPPC park property. NO MORE SMOKING/VAPING at Calvert or any other MNCPPC parks. You can receive a $100 fine if caught violating the new rule.

Please pass along this information to others, so no one gets a ticket. If you see a young ranger lurking around; be careful. Because he his eager to pass out tickets for this infraction.

2016 Freestate Doubles Finale
Sunday October 16, 2016
Woodsboro Regional Park

If you have played doubles at any of the following participating leagues:

Calvert Road Park (Sun)
Calvert Road Park (Tue)
Ditto Farms DGC (Tue)
Heritage Farm Park (Thu)
Kinder Farm Park (Wed)
Rockburn Branch (Mon)

and you finish in the top 20 (points) at any of these leagues, you are invited to participate in the 2016 Freestate Doubles finale (Champions Division)

Schedule:
8:30 am – 9:15 am player check in
9:15 - 9:30 teams drawn by individual leagues
9:35 players meeting
10:00 round one starts
please check in as soon as you arrive and before warming up. I would like to get everyone checked in as quickly as possible.
The finale will be capped at 72 players

CHAMPIONS DIVISION INFORMATION

Entry fee: $10.00
after paying overhead costs, any money left over will go towards the payout

Ace Pot: (optional) $1.00
if no aces are hit during the first round, the ace pot money will be rolled into the payout

Notes:
• Teams will be randomly drawn by individual course (league) and it will be done in groups of four starting with the highest finishers first. For example (Calvert Sundays), players 1 – 4 would be randomly drawn among each other, and then players 5 - 8, and so on. As we near the bottom of the list, it might be necessary to perform the last draw with 6 players instead of four.
• All teams will play holes 1 – 18 during the first round.
• After the first round is complete there will be a short break to check the scorecards, and at this point 50% of the field will move on to a final nine and the other 50% will be eliminated.
• The holes to be played for the final nine will be determined later.
• After the final nine and after the scorecards have been checked, the top 50% of this group will qualify for the payout.
• The payout will be done utilizing the PDGA pay table.
• There are also trophy discs for the first through third place teams.


FIELD DIVISION INFORMATION

If you have played doubles at any of the following participating leagues and didn’t earn enough points to qualify for the Champions Division, or you just want to come out and play, you are invited to participate in the 2016 Freestate Doubles finale (Field Division).

8:30 am – 9:15 am player check in
9:15 - 9:30 teams drawn by individual leagues
9:35 players meeting
10:00 round one starts

Entry fee: $5.00
all of this money will go towards the payout for the first through third place teams
there will not be an Ace Pot

Full details will be posted right here (on MD-Discgolf.com) over the next few weeks, but here's what I can tell you right now...

If you have played doubles at any of the participating leagues and you finish in the top 20 (points) at any of these leagues, you are invited to participate in the 2016 Freestate Doubles finale (Champions Division).

Come on out this Sunday for the Annual Calvert OSD All Star Game and BBQ. We'll match up teams based on points standings from the first half of the season (you don't have to qualify by playing earlier this season!!). Added Gift Cards provided by our Sponsor TOWN CENTER MARKET (Thanks you Jimmy!!) for the top two teams.

It seems like the parks dept planted more trees. Looks like these will definitely survive, because they are slightly older trees. And they have put water bags on them. Please take care around them and do not damage them. It would be very hard to hit any of them with any errant shots, considering they are only at the front of the course near the road.

PS...Fill dirt has been dropped off, so as to try and keep mowers from destroying tee pads when they mow. If you have a shovel or wheel barrow and wish to help; a few of us will out there Saturday morning to put piles near the tees that need it the most.
