About this league
Fee per round $5
2015 Shore Acres Disc Golf Club League explained:
-Memberships are sold out. Guests are welcome and for $5 they get entry into all CTPs along with a payout of $75 for an ace.
- Ace pool: $250 for early-bird members, $150 for weekly members, $75 for paid guests
- League play currently begins at 3:15pm with assisted tee-times to help flow between 4:30 and 6pm. All players shall tee off on hole #1.
- Scores have been bad this year! Due to this unfortunate fact, we will implement a new naughty protocol. Any incorrect score will be docked 5 points come official league play starting May 5th! A wrong score will be like losing to 5 more people…being naughty has its consequences.
- Official league rounds start May 5th and run through September 1st. High-Low doubles will be on September 8th.
- Divisional tournaments will be held 6/9 (yellow), 7/21 (Black), and 9/1 (TBD)
- Hi-Low Doubles qualification rules - In order to qualify for Hi-Low doubles on 9/8, you must be A) an early-bird member with a handicap or B) a weekly member who has established a handicap and played at least 6 official league rounds. If a weekly member is short of 11 official rounds, they will need to pay in for the rounds that were missed. *Example - Ben Flymo is a weekly member and has played 7 official league rounds. He has established a league handicap and wants to play Hi-Lo, so, he can play by paying $20 on Hi-Lo night ($5 x 4 weeks short of 11 weeks).
- End of year league awards will be given to the top point earners and the best scoring averages. To qualify for scoring average awards, a player must play a minimum of 3 official rounds in each course configuration.
- All Early-bird and Weekly members are invited to join us for an end of the year awards party on September 15th! Additional details will be posted later this year.
POINTS EXPLAINED:
The handicap system will be in place again for 2015 which means you, even YOU can beat the Pros.
Each week of league, you will have an updated handicap provided as a membership privilege. At the close of each league week, we will send the scores to our mathematical elves who work for us behind the scenes. The elves will run some calculations and give each player a revised handicap each and every week. Your most recent handicap will be used for your adjusted score.
To start the season, each player that had a total of 3 league rounds or more in 2013 or 2014 will have a handicap for the first week they play. Those who are new for 2015 will have an official handicap after 3 weeks of play. It is preferred that new members set their handicap during April's preseason, though it is not required.
So let's go over a scenerio: Ben Flymo is a returning member from 2013. The elves have computed his handicap index as 6.2. During the first week of league, he shoots a 62. Ben finished 3rd grade so he knows that subtracting 6.2 from 62 will give him 55.8. Obviously, you can't have a decimal score, so you have to round. .5 and above rounds up and .4 and below rounds down. So...56 is his adjusted score for the week. The elves will run this simple math across all players that week and order the adjusted scores from lowest to highest. Let's say that 35 players played that week. The best adjusted score for the week gets 35 points, 1 point for each person they beat. Ben finished 10th, so he will obtain 25 points for the week.
We will drop the worst 3 point totals from each player...so...if you miss a week or two, no harm done. If you play every week, it's an advantage to you as you will have your worst points dropped equaling more points for you!
If you'd like to know more about how our elves compute your handicap, send a message to Zach Vaughn or find him during a league night. He's the boss of the elves and knows best how they compute all of the handicaps.
