LDT winter 2013-2014 has ended! It was a great season, and we saw 70 new league members come out to battle in the snow and cold to take home cash, prizes, and the joy of playing winter disc golf :) I want to thank everyone that came out to participate. I never thought that we would have such an immensely successful first season as a club. I met a bunch of amazing people and look forward to many more successful seasons and the chance to meet even more great players.
Somehow after all the weeks of playing we ended up with two great players tied for first place for the winter season. Casey Cook and Jeff Lozowsky. During the final league round they managed to play so competitively that they again tied for the win and remained tied for 1st place. To resolve the tie they were to play an 9 hole singles playoff round to determine the winner. Guess what...they were tied again after 9 holes! Another 9 holes was added to the playoff and finally a winner was determined...and still only by 1 stroke! Casey Cook came out as the winner in the end. Congratulations Casey! I would also like to thank Jeff Lozowsky for giving us such a hard fought battle and having such an outstanding winter season. If I could give you both the win I would :) Jason Cassidy captured all the drama on a video that he spend a TON of time filming and editing. Great job Jason. Our summer league season begins this Sunday, April 6th. We have bag tag packages available if you'd like to get into tags. Ace pool is back down to $100. Winter league ace pool has been donated, following previously devised guidelines, to buy baskets for the course at JCC. This is only one of the many projects that we are going to be working on during the warmer months. If you'd like to get involved with these projects please contact myself or Jason Cassidy. I look forward to seeing everyone who played winter league back for summer and hope to see a lot of new faces as well. Let the warmer months begin!

The long, cold, winter season comes to a close this Sunday for LDT out at Portage Lake. Looks like spring may finally be sprung with the projected temps in the 50's for our last winter round. Summer league starts the very next week on April 6th..let's hope this heralds the coming of some warmer temps. We currently have a tie for first place with both Casey Cook and Jeff Lozowsky at 67 points, so looks like this one is going to come down to the very last round! The winner of league will receive a trophy, winner's package, and get their name on the LDT plaque (kind of like our own Stanley Cup with the winner of each league season having their name added)
Summer bag tag packages have been shipped and will be available for purchase on Sunday. $25 gets you a tag, custom shirt, and custom towel. We will start the process of having everyone hand in their winter tags this week also. If you are a top 10 tag holder please try to make the round this Sunday!! The tag you finish with on Sunday will be the one you go into the tag challenge with on May 3rd. If you are a tag holder please sign up for the tag challenge now! We have to order food and drinks and really need to know how many are coming. Only 5 of 20 tag holders are signed up as of today.

Not a big crowd today, but wow some hot scores! Skyler Stoker and Joel Coppernoll shoot a super hot -13 to take the win with our best league score ever. Good shootin guys! Framo and myself were one stroke behind with a -12 round that I thought would win for sure, not this week though. -6 took last place today...that's some good shooting for last place. Sun was shining and snow was barely a factor, so that helped everyone out a lot I think. Only 2 more weeks left before the end of winter league! Looks like it will be a battle for 1st place with Jeff Lozowsky and Casey Cook all tied up at 64 points. Good luck to you both.

I'll be taking registration money for our Birds and the Bees tourney coming up on April 19th for anyone who wants to pre-reg this Sunday at league. On Thursday, March 6th at 7pm we will be meeting at Bone Island Grill in Vandercook to discuss what the 2014 year and moving forward will look like for Lost Disc Tribe. If you are a member of the Tribe please do your best to attend this meeting. We will need input on many issues, including the upcoming course construction for both JCC and Ella Sharp Park. The schedule for our winter season has been slightly modified. Instead of finishing the winter out in April we will have our last winter league day on March 30th. This gives us 5 more league days before the winter points season comes to a close. Get out there and make those last rounds count! Summer session will begin on April 6th and conclude the week before the State Championships. We will still do our bag tag challenge on May 3rd, and winter tags will continue to circulate until that date. Summer tags will be available at the bag tag challenge. Any questions about this can be raised at the meeting on the 6th. Well another winter storm rolls through and we're left to play in the aftermath..good news is that the snow is hard and compact which should make it easier to find your disc tomorrow. Jason and I will be out early to make sure the pads are clean and salted per our usual routine. ESP Glo Zones are in! I will be bringing them to league tomorrow, so if you'd like one then come prepared. $20 apiece. I will also be taking registration money for our upcoming Ice Bowl, or if you'd like to cashless pre-reg you can give me your name and I'll add you to the tournament roster. I promise this winter will end eventually and we will have glorious warm days! For now..I'll see all you die hards on the course to battle in the winter fury!!

Get paid!! Start time is at noon, please don't be late. Tee pads were all shoveled and salted today so should be in really good shape for tomorrow. A reminder to all that we have our Ice Bowl coming up on February 22nd and looks like we will probably fill up, so reserve your spot today! Well it was an interesting round of dubs at Portage today with over a foot of snow on the ground and the wind blowing snow the whole time. The conditions were harsh, and the scores certainly reflect that. Thanks everyone who came out and stuck through it. Everyone who participated today and finished the round was awarded an extra point for league. It was certainly one to remember. See you all next week...hopefully in much better conditions.

Crazy winter storm headed towards us for tomorrow! Just wanted to let everyone know that if you can make it we will be out there. Please be safe getting there..I think they're calling for 6-10 inches of snow overnight and through tomorrow. If you are running late please don't rush we will give you some time, just call me at 517-240-9564. Come prepared with all your winter gear on and you may want to tape some ribbons onto your discs for easy retrieval. This is a round for all you die-hards out there and a chance for a $500 snow ace. League today was slushy, rainy, and cold with the trees raining ice down on us but we had 13 brave souls weather the inclement conditions for another fun round of LDT golf! Thanks to Scott Sprow for bringing out a CTP for us and supporting the league..a note to league members that Scott runs WC glow on Wednesdays nights and it's always a fun time out there. I'd like to remind everyone to PLEASE bring your tags with you to league...and take them with you when you leave so I'm not holding on to extra tags. We may adopt a points system for tag attendance and use it during the bag tag challenge to benefit players who remembered to bring their tag to each league round.

One final thing to everyone...cashless pre-reg is open for both the Ice Bowl on 2/22 and our Bag Tag Challenge on 5/3. Both at Big Portage Lake. Go to the talk section of the sites and pre-reg today!

Remember for tag holders an ace pays out everything but $100 of the ace pool (non-tag holders only get half of ace pool $$) so if you don't have a tag then it may be a good time to invest. Only 2 tags left!! CTP is also free for tag holders. Get your hand warmers in those gloves and those hats and long underwear on to brave the winter months for some dg fun...see you all out there!
