The Boulder Woods Country Club hosted its 8th annual Ice Bowl event yesterday (2/24/2013)
with 35 participants, 35 degree weather, 35 mph winds, and 3.5 inches of mud (in
spots)!
Thanks to the generosity of the local discgolf community, The York County Food
Bank will be receiving $1,000 and about 150lbs. of canned goods!
With a $20 entry, players all received a disc of choice and a lucky gold coin.
50% donation, 25% payouts and 25% to cover player packs was how things were
broken down.
Entry Fees = $350
Hole Sponsors = $300
Mulligans = $120
CTB/minicatcher contest = $100
Private checks = $100 (Thanks to Jonathan & Gigi Gere)
Misc. donations = $30 (Thanks to Katie Stash, Caryn Shearer and Owen Hileman)
Special Thanks go to the Park Manager, Mr. Bob Deffner, Ranger Wanda Pritulsky
and the staff at Gifford Pinchot State Park for their support of our event each
year with both food donations and the free use of a pavilion including
electricity for our crockpots!............
and speaking of crockpots,....
Thank you to everyone who contributed some food for sharing. We were fortunate
to have two kinds of chili, some mac 'n cheese, some black bean soup, meatballs
and some Gumbo to warm our bellies! Delicious!
Of course, this event, like most events locally, would not have been such a
success without the support and love that OD brings to the local discgolf
community. But I'd be remiss if I failed to mention the efforts of other
clubmembers for refurbishing the bulletin board (Friede & Roz), setting up the
course with portable baskets and temporary teepads (Gary, Bob, Friede) and
assisting me with registration, scoring and prizes (Bob and Coach).
