Monday Workday Doubles is the brainchild of Jake "Kuba" Steinbrecher and Driftwood Creek Disc Golf Club. It's been a year-round staple at Hawthorne Park (now Pontiac Oaks) on Monday evenings for many years. The league started as the weekly cap to a day of work developing the course through the park's thick underbrush and woods (hence the name) before the county took control of the land in late 2023. Jake and the Driftwood Creek crew deserve the credit for designing and building that first course as well as much of the re-design for the course as it stands today.
Personally, these Monday rounds became a much needed change of pace at the beginning of my work week, and I'm just filling in for Jake for a little bit so that I still have the chance at the weekly round with the other golfers crazy enough to come out during all seasons. So, I'll try my best to be true to the club and the essence of Monday Workday Doubles!
