About this league

Current cash purse: $500

Entry Fee:

A $20 entry fee will be charged and go directly into the final event purse. This league is entirely non-profit. I won't be keeping any money (although I will be competing for a top spot). I will be reaching out to local companies for sponsorship, to help increase the cash purse (or pay for the bag tags). Players can pay in cash, venmo or paypal and need to pay before they can get a tag.

Events

- Official rounds, 1-2 times a month, depending on scheduling with local tournaments:
-- Points earned in multiple ways at the event
-- Players swap bag tags based on finishing order
-- Standard singles play, PDGA rules
- One final event, at the end of the season, to determine the season winner:
-- Points earned over the season convert to a stroke advantage

Players can also hold unofficial events at any point in time, even right before the official events. Bag tags will be swapped based on results, with ties going to the person with the lower tag. No points are earned during these unofficial events.

Points System

Points are earned through various ways at each official event:

- Attendance Bonus: 4 points for showing up
- Bag Tag Ranking Bonus: 0.5 point for each player you outrank who attends (rounded down)
-- E.g., If 5 people show up with a lower tag than you, you'll earn 2 points
- Event placement bonus:
-- 1st: 6 pts
-- 2nd: 5 pts
-- 3rd: 4 pts
-- 4th: 3pts
-- Top 50%: 2 pts
-- Top 75%: 1 pt

Any ties during these rounds will simply have all players in the tie earn the points for that spot. So if three players tie for 1st, all three players earn 6 points. The next lowest score will earn the 2nd place spot, with ties working the same.

(I am concerned about these points being imbalanced, overly favoring either participation or high rank. I want to encourage both, to keep things more competitive throughout the season. Therefore, I will be evaluating the leaderboard/point distribution about halfway through the season to see if things are in fact imbalanced. I reserve the right to adjust points earned going forward, to encourage continued play. Any points already earned will stay the same.)

First Event:

The attendance bonus will be given, and bag tags will be allocated at the end of the round. The placement bonus will still apply.

Final Event:

At the end of the season, we'll run a final event, with a cash payout for the top five spots. Based on points earned during the season, the following stroke advantage will be given:

- Season Points Leader: -6 strokes
- 2nd: -5
- 3rd: -4
- 4th: -3
- 5th: -2
- Top 50%: -1

Payouts

Payouts will be given based on final score, minus the stroke advantage. Ties in the top 3 spots will go to a playoff.

- Season winner: 35% of entry fees
- Runner up: 25%
- 3rd place: 20%
- 4th: 12%
- 5th: 8%

So, for example, if we have 30 people sign up, at $20 an entry fee, that would be $600 total. The payouts would be: $210, 150, 120, 70, 50 (I did adjust the final two to be even numbers)

Ties in the 4th place spot will split the 4th+5th pot evenly. So if three players tie for 4th, we'll combine the 4th and 5th pots and split it three ways. There will be no payout then for the 5th spot, as technically that's taken up by the tied players in the 4th spot.

If there is no tie in 4th, but a tie in 5th, then the 5th place pot is split evenly.

Lost Bag Tags:

If you lose your bag tag, you will be given the next lowest bag tag available from the current bottom spot. So if 26 players sign up, you'll be given bag tag 27.

General Rules

- All players must carry their current tag during league rounds and while playing casual rounds where challenges may occur.
- Tags must be visible and exchanged immediately after any round where a valid challenge occurs.

Casual Tag Rounds

Players can agree before a casual round that they wish to play for tags. When this happens, all players competing for tags must play the same course and layout. At the end of the round, players will redistribute tags amongst themselves based on their scores.

Player Challenges

1. Issuing a Challenge:

- Any player with a higher-numbered tag (e.g., #20) may challenge a player with a lower-numbered tag (e.g., #5).
- Challenges must be issued before a round starts, not during or after.
- Challenges may be made in person, via text, or through the RADGA Facebook page.

2. Valid Challenge Conditions:

- The challenge must be for a round played within 7 days.
- Players must agree on a course and tee time within a reasonable distance and availability.
- If multiple players are involved in a round, tags will be reordered by final score among those with tags.
- When a challenge has been accepted, neither player can participate in Casual challenges until the agreed upon match has taken place. (They can still play, they just can't exchange tags with anyone other than the challenger. This is to avoid friends "hiding" the lower tag by having their friend "borrow" it.)

3. Limitations:

- Players may only issue one challenge per day, and cannot challenge the same player more than once per week unless both agree.
- You may not refuse a challenge if you're actively playing in league or casual rounds.
- Tournament rounds do not automatically count for challenges unless all players agree beforehand.

Failure to Accept or Complete a Challenge

Refusal without Reason:
- A player who refuses a valid challenge without a legitimate reason (e.g., illness, work conflict, out of town) will forfeit their tag to the challenger.
- "Not feeling like it" is not a valid reason.

No Response:
- If a player fails to respond to a challenge within 48 hours, the challenger may report the incident.
- If confirmed and a repeated occurrence, the non-responsive player must forfeit their tag to the challenger or take the highest-numbered tag in circulation.

Chronic Avoidance:

- Three unexcused refusals in a season results in suspension from the league or automatic reassignment of a lower-ranking tag.

No-Shows:

- A no-show to a scheduled, confirmed challenge is treated as a loss, and the tag must be surrendered.
- If the challenger is the no-show, the tag exchange does not occur, but further no-shows may result in loss of challenge privileges.

Tag Exchange Etiquette

- Tags must be exchanged immediately after a round.
- If scores are tied, players keep their current tags unless they agree to a tiebreaker (e.g., most birdies, playoff hole).
- Players are responsible for keeping their tags clean, legible, and present.
