About this league

I am trying to get a doubles league going for parent and children. I am still working through the details but based on my Facebook post it seems like there is enough interest in a league like this to try and get one going.

Here are my thoughts because I have a couple of things decided and several things that are open for discussion. Also, this would be my first time running a league so please be kind.

1) This will be a handicapped league to try and give everyone a better chance at scoring the win.

2) You will bring your own double partner and the doubles teams will be made up of one adult and one child (age is 18 or under). There is no requirement for the relationship between the child and the adult. However the scoring handicap will follow the doubles team if an adult plays will different children on different weeks.

3) If we get enough interest, I would like to have two divisions, MJ12 and MJ18. These will be based on the age of the child. If the child is 12 years old or younger the team could play in MJ12 or MJ18. If the child is 13 years old or younger then the team would have to play in MJ18.

4) I am thinking about adding additional restrictions to the MJ12 division requiring the team to use a certain number of drives from the child. I am thinking 3-6 per round. I think this would be up for discussion, but what I don't want to have happen is that the team uses 18 drives from the parent. I would think that the children are good enough at 13 years old that they would make enough good drives that this restriction would not be needed.

5) I live close to Firefighters park and it seems to be a good course for younger children, but the location is up for discussion

6) I put Thursday for the day of the league, but I would be open to Tuesday or Friday also. I do think 6pm is probably a good time, but is also open for discussion.

7) Cost can also be discussed.

8) Payouts would be cash and I am thinking about 1-3 spots depending on how many people show up.

9) I am sure that I have forgotten somethings so please give suggestions in the comments. Also please add comments on areas where I opened topics up for discussion.

Hopefully we can get a good league going and have lots of fun enjoying disc golf.
