I may have some groups start on hole 9, as well. Again, if there's a three-pack that comes up on your group, it's possible that they have more holes left than you do, so let them play through if they're playing faster.

A couple of week 9 notes (I'll do more recaps once we're into winter leagues), congratulations to Kristin White for hitting the only ace so far this summer!

Also I think Frank Costales just scored the best round at Davis ever, and if you want to be picky about layouts, I'm guessing the best rated round I've ever seen out there - should be well over 1030 by the time it gets mixed in with all the other rounds.

I'm going to try and do the last group as a 3-pack, so they can play fast, so if you're on an earlier card and they run into you, please let them play through. They'll have a lot more golf left than your group will.

If you know you want to play but you can't make it by 6pm tomorrow, please let me know sooner than later - I want to plot out the best way to let folks start late.

Davis can take a while to play, so you're going to be pushing sunset towards the end of the round if you are on the late card.

This is going to be the last league round that starts at 6:30 - next week we're starting at 6:00, and then 5:45 for the final week. For weeks 9 and 10, if you can only make it by 6:30 and you still want to play, let me know, and I'll see if we can pull together a card that starts later and doesn't mind maybe finishing with a little bit of darkness.

BTW two sort-of announcements: first, the last two weeks of the league will be starting a little earlier just for daylight - 6:00 at Davis in Week 9 and 5:45 at PC week 10. If you want to play and can only make it like 15 minutes late, we can also have a late card going off those weeks - but not much more than 15 minutes late, because I don't want folks finishing in the pitch black.

Also, I didn't publicize this enough but if you have a preferred starting hole or group, let me know. I like to do at least one league random draw so people get to know each other early in the year, but by this point we've had plenty of mixing.

Come check out all the work that's been done out at Davis - the downed trees on 9 have been removed, the fairway cleaned up. 6 is also cleared out by the basket a little.

I'm psyched about how Davis is looking, though - lots of work has been done on it in the last week or so. Most of the downed trees in the fairway on hole 9 are gone, and the footing has been cleaned up a lot. Hole 6's approach is much more reasonable now, too. Thanks to Adam Klein and Jeremy Boyd, and if you want to know when work is being done so you can help out, just comment here - it's mostly just pulling logs and sticks off the fairways.

Also, 8 has a mando now! The alder bushes on the right side have been cleared out and there's a log marking the drop zone in case you go out to the field. It looks so different!

As you may or may not have heard, a bear decided to post up on the teepad of 16, making it impossible for a couple of groups to play the hole last night. Fortunately or unfortunately (no one had an ace or a bogey on the hole, so it's not making a huge amount of difference), I'm going to have to remove that hole from competition, and everyone played a 17-hole layout last night. Your scores might look a little weird - the hole called 16 if you look at the hole-by-hole scoring is actually the second to last hole on the course (where we lost the tree a few weeks ago) and the hole called 17 is the final hole of the course (up the hill, in the bowl to the left).
