MVDGA Disc Golf Bag Tag League Rules

Have fun and follow the rules and spirit of disc golf. The purpose of the Bag Tag is to encourage people to get out and play, and add another fun element to personal, league, and tournament rounds of disc golf.

COST OF INITIAL BAG TAG IS $15.00

The Goal:
Your goal is to have the lowest numbered Bag Tag possible. MVDGA Disc Golf Bag Tag Season will run until July 31st.

Payouts:

50% of profits from tags and collected funds will be paid out to Top 40% of tag holders at end of season.
50% of profits form tags and collected funds will be allocated for the end of season skins match. Top 4 tags will be invited to a skins match at the end of the season, with spots being offered in succession to the next best tags in the event that players decline.

Rules
1. Members who possess a current Bag Tag in hand may issue/schedule/participate in challenge(s).
2. Any member with a higher Bag Tag number may challenge any player with a lower Bag Tag number to a round of disc golf.
3. Members cannot avoid challenges by leaving the Bag Tag at home or by concealing your Bag Tag (see forfeiture).
4. Challenges may be made in person, by phone or e-mail. When a challenge via telephone or e-mail has been accepted, neither player can participate in Casual challenges until the agreed upon match has taken place.
5. The player receiving the challenge can choose the course to be played AND must make a fair and reasonable effort to be available within 2 weeks.
6. If the challenger cannot agree to a reasonable time or date for the match within the coming week, the challenge is void and both players may look for new challenges.
7. Once the challenge has been agreed upon, any changes must be agreed upon otherwise a forfeiture may occur.
8. If the challenger has the lowest score for the round, the tags must be exchanged immediately following the round. If tags are not exchanged following any round a forfeiture may occur.
9. Each player must play in at least two official MVDGA TAG LEAGUE ROUNDS per month, or forfeit their tag. These league rounds will occur every Monday and Tuesday as well as other days at the league directors discretion, community members are highly encouraged to run official tag league rounds.
10. It is the responsibility of the winner of a tag to update DGS within 12 hours of winning a tag unless at an official tag league, these will be updated by the commissioner.

OFFICIAL MVDGA TAG LEAGUE ROUNDS: These occur concurrently with the MVDGA Handicap League that is played on Mondays as well as Tuesdays. Monday Handicap league will have a $10 cost for tag holders, and non-tag holders can join the league for the day for an extra $5 fee. Tuesday league will be tags only and will be free to play. Singles PDGA Events, all MVDGA singles leagues, and singles tournaments listed on DGS also count toward this requirement.

NEW RULE: FLEX START EVENTS DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY COUNT FOR TAGS
They still can count if desired, but tags must be turned in prior to the round.

Automatic Challenges:
Automatic challenges occur during any singles League or Tournament, if any MVDGA Tag holder is playing the same layout in the same tournament/league.
Tags must be turned in before any automatic challenge events, either to a TD or other designated tag holder, whose job will be to ascertain scores at the end of a round and distribute tags.
Members may not deny this challenge.

Casual Challenges:
MVDGA tag members may casually meet at a course OR agree to meet at a course/time to compete for bag tags in where two or more players each put a Bag Tag at stake during the group round.
Members may not deny a challenge and then proceed to play a round (see forfeiture).

Exception:
Any Automatic Challenges take precedence over any challenge from another player who is not at an event, even if they have officially challenged you.

Wins, Ties, and Exchanges:

Q: How do I win?
A: The player with the lowest score at the end of the challenge round earns the lowest numbered Bag Tag among the challengers.

Q: I won, when do I receive my winning Bag Tag?
A: Bag Tags must be exchanged immediately following the round.

Q: What happens if we have a tie?
A: In the event of a tie, the player who started with the lowest numbered Bag Tag will be awarded the lowest numbered Bag Tag.

Rematches:
Challengers who have just won, may, but do not have to accept/schedule a rematch challenge from a player that the s/he just beaten unless one of the following occurs:
1. Either player completes another, separate challenge.
2. One week has passed.

Eligible Tags:
Members may only challenge members who possess the MVDGA Bag Tag; no other Bag Tags are eligible to participate in challenges. You must have your Bag Tag with you to challenge or accept challenges.

Forfeiture:
Each Bag Tag belongs to the entire club membership and should be accessible to all club members. Any club member will be required to surrender his/her Bag Tag if:
He/She is found to be purposely concealing the Bag Tag, especially with a low number.
Refusing and/or forgetting to carry his/her Bag Tag, especially to events where members are likely to be present.
Refusing Automatic Challenges.
Generally denying Bag Tag access to other members (TBD by the commissioner with confirmation from an independent committee).

If you lose your Bag Tag, please report it immediately. You may then purchase the next lowest number Bag Tag available. Replacement tags, if available, will cost $15.00.

Rules are subject to change and the MVDGA League Director and admins will decide all disputes. The MVDGA reserves the right to revoke your Bag Tag at our discretion.
