Flatrock Park

Should have gotten to this sooner. My favorite Georgia course by far. The tall Georgia pines that the course traverses mixed with some red dirt, honey suckle and rock formations, reminds me just how much I miss living here. Although the heat ensures I never will again, like the snow too much. Every time I visit I do plan on playing rounds here. Left and right dog legs, short and long holes, up hill, down hill. Although the heat ensures I never will again, like the snow too much. Every time I visit I do plan on playing rounds here. Left and right dog legs, short and long holes, up hill, down hill. Designated area of the park just for disk golf, sans a few bikers and walkers. Flows very well, never crowded on my visits. Technical shots required for a good score. Most holes have multiple shot selections off the tee pads. Have met a few other disc golfers here, and everyone was very friendly, inquisitive about disc golf in other States, and helpful with hints for the round, Southern Hospitality! Hope to catch leagues here on my next visit. Course was very well maintained.

Really enjoyed this course. It was pretty busy, but not too crowded for a weekend. We let a few groups play through. Very friendly crowd. Course was laid out well utilizing all the natural forested areas as well as some good elevation changes. Baskets were good quality and well-placed. Everything available from precision shot par 3s to an 870 foot bomb par 5 on 18. Course was well maintained allowing for some decent skips. Watch anything hooking right on 11, though. Everything available from precision shot par 3s to an 870 foot bomb par 5 on 18. Course was well maintained allowing for some decent skips. Watch anything hooking right on 11, though. I had to say farewell to my favorite red Star Destroyer there...someone will have an early Christmas next Fall when all the brush down in the draw to the right of the tee pad dies back. There are good facilities in the area, covered picnic areas, ample trash cans, and even an ice cream truck cruising around (could have done without his theme music after about 3 holes). Definitely a must for any plate chuckers TDY to Ft. Benning; only about 20-25 minute drive.

Nice course. Great mixture of holes. Wish there were blue pro tee pads all the time rather than just "big tourneys", which is almost never. I absolutely love the park the course is in, however I feel the course fell short of potential compared to the giant park. If you live in the south, you have to make a trip to play this course. It is worth a weekend getaway to stop before/after a few rounds at some Atlanta-area courses. If you live in the Columbus area, you are lucky to have such a great park (especially for mediocre-at-best Columbus) and an above average course like Flatrock. Just gets boring after you've played it so often.

It's a tough course but to me it hits that sweet spot between too hard and too easy. First, let me say that I'm new to disc golf, and second, I have a really nice home course at the Kiwanis Morristown, TN course. Flat Rock is a beautiful park, but for us, the DC was a tad disappointing. First, if I hadn't found a course map online, we'd have been totally lost. Part of the holes aren't numbered, there aren't diagrams of the greenways, and we had a hard time finding some of the baskets. Overall, it was a nice course to play, as long as you can find where you are supposed to be. My other issue was the course was rather over grown. We lost a disc more than once in high grass. You could not see it until you walked up on it. Not a big deal, but frustrating. Lastly has more to do with our fellow golfers. Put your trash where it goes, please. If we trash our courses, we won't have any to play. There was a LOT of trash. The sad part was there were plenty of trash cans. Overall, we had a good time, but not great. We spent 1/3 of our time hunting the baskets. We'll go back next time we're in the area. This is a course we'll worth visiting. EDIT: My wife wanted it to be mentioned there was a lot of poison ivy around the course.
