My new favorite course! Take a chair lift to the first tee pad? Awesome! Beautiful views. Some of the later "teens holes" (that are just going back and forth across the mountain face) seem like they could've had more creativity, but what can you expect (when being dual purpose with ski slopes). The woods holes are fun and challenging. Needs to have more trash cans, so it doesn't start to clutter up.

Over the years this course has seen many changes, some good...some not. This year a few people decided to really reevaluate the course layout and put in some work, and it has paid off! Once you get to hole #1 prepare yourself for a round off challenging fun. The layout now has new signage, basket flags and rubber tee pads. For an added challenge play the cart path "blacktop" as an OB. A perfect mix of birdies and bogies.

Pros: Great views with good distances and elevation changes. Nice variety. Enjoyed the $5 ride to the top of the ski-resort to start at hole #1.

Cons: No solid tee pads. Footing on at least 5-6 holes are on deep sand and impossible to get a clean run-up on. When the "tee pads" exist, they are still fairly dangerous for a run-up.

Signs were okay, but sometimes misleading, and fairly dangerous as they seem to be in the backswing of wherever the tee pad should be.

Baskets were 50/50. Some were decent, others were bent up like crazy as if a bulldozer hit them.

Overall, I probably wouldn't play this course again in it's current state. If they put in solid tee pads, better signs (with safer sign locations), and fixed the baskets, I would change the course rating to a B+.

To get to the course, park in the lot behind / to the side of the great lodge and walk towards the village area directly behind the lodge. Find the 'Adventure Center' which is on the main path leading out of the back door of the lodge, and buy a $5 lift ticket to get to the top of the mountain.

If you really want, you can hike it, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Once at the top of the mountain, follow the paved path away from the restaurant and you'll see a pole and trash basket that mark hole 1. When you finish on 18, you'll come down the hill right to the back parking lot.

For the first few holes, there is pretty good 'next tee' signage directing you where to go and when in doubt, each hole does have a map that gives you an idea where you should be going so even on my first time out I didn't get lost. As is to be expected, there's a few holes you'll want to walk down the fairway a little to see where the pin is, but for the most part, the fairways are pretty good indicators of where the pin will be.

When I played 7/5/2014 the pole marking the tee pad for hole 10 was down, look for it on the right side of the sand dune after playing 9, and then watch for the tee pad for 11 on your way up to 10's basket, you'll trek back down the dune after holing out on 10 to tee on 11.

Pros: Beautiful shots, great use of elevation. Some down hill shots, some up hill shots, all with a clearly defined line (or lines, FH vs BH options) no real unfairways. Has some bombers to let you air out your arm, and also some technical wooded shots to test your accuracy. Very scenic. Some other reviews complained about the baskets, I saw one that had a dented cage, but the rest of them were in perfectly good shape.

Cons: Tee pads are mostly sand, and not very clearly defined, and the tee signs are not always pointed facing the pin, so there were a couple holes I had to look a couple different directions before finding a pin (although once the pin was located, the hole made sense).

Summary: Definitely a course worth playing if you're in the area, but just a small addition of some rubber mats for tee pads, and a score card box (stocked with cards with a map) would go a long way towards making this course a lot more enjoyable.

^Boyne puts so much money into everything else, why not just a little on this? So much potential simply wasted. There are some Awesome course designers all around this state, why not get one of them?
^Extremely disappointed with this 'course'. Signs didn't match scorecards, signs didn't point me in the right direction, ever. No flow. They completely dropped the ball on this. I do not recommend at all. There are several courses in the area that are worth the drive!

The cource has a great mix of holes. It made me throw a lot of shots out of my bag. My issue was that nothing was really mowed in the middle of the summer and the sand under the tee pads was very loose. it is a minimal investment to put down some rubber mats or build some frames to fill with good packable dirt. If the course was in better overall shape I would have enjoyed much more

Mid 90s when I played temp wise made it physically demanding. Enjoyed the views from the mountain immensely. Would return to the course in a heartbeat.

Slight navigation issues butanageable. Many creative bling drivrs. Elevation amd hidden cliffs played mind games. Really enjoyed it.

The course is well maintained and is ontop of a ski hill. There are a good variety of downhill and uphill shots, some nice open bombers. Most of the ruff isnt too thick either so finding your disc shouldnt be an issue. The Tee pads are dirt and this is why I would rate this a B+, if they were cement it would be an A-. A lot of the pads have a casual pad, which is the road right next to the actual pad. A lot of the shots I felt were about 300 feet out and to the right, so be ready to break out your forhand or anhyzer game. You have to goto the front office and ask for a shuttle up, the shuttle is free but I tipped the man $6. Even though this course is on a hill it is not nearly as tiring as Grayling. Although I like grayling more.

For a resort of this level I guess I really expected more. The course and the ziplines were often parallel or crossing the course. There is plenty of space on that ski hill and I found it unessesary to cram several holes under the ziplines. A few of the holes were of the main path and seemed out of the way and you have to backtrack on 10s fairway to find 11. there were no trash cans anywhere in site either....so those who dont understand 'pack it in pack it out' just littered. The course really needs to use the space and terrain better....ultimately I was very disappointed

Parked at the main lodge with a quick trip inside to speak to the front desk about getting started and i was excited to find out a shuttle would pick me up for a ride to the top of the mountain for hole #1. A chair lift ride would have been sweet but it wasn't to be running until 4pm. The weather was perfect with clear skies. I was the only person on the course at 11:30am, aside from the zip line adventurers which were plenty. I found each hole a challenge and was with-in constant awe of the summer wildflowers and pure natural beauty. It took me over two hours to play 18 from the long tee's but that was largely due to my photographing of each and every Tee. The holes were easy to find and i didn't lose a disc. Just 1 birdie but i reached par 12 times with no double's on my first visit to a course that i will spend much time talking and thinking about in the future. Oh yeah, hole six had a water cooler and paper drinking cones, sweeet!!!

The Layout was awesome, it just had a lot of small things that made it a pain in the neck. It had some Challanging tighter holes, and it had a lot of big shots up and down the mountain. Most the Tee Pad signs were missing and it was a little hard finding some of the baskets and the next hole. A few of the holes were not forgiving at all which were great. Pretty much tee pads did not exsist, playing in a lot of loose sand so it was hard to get grip and a good hard accurate throw. Other than all of that, a good work out and a lot of fun!
