I am surprised that this course gets the high ratings that it does. It's a solid course but I don't feel it warrants a Top 30 rating in Michigan. The water holes are very intimidating and maybe that's why I didn't love it. I would throw it again if I was in the area but don't consider it a destination course. 87 out of 100.

Must play course and there is no two ways about it. The layout is amongst a beautiful canopy of old growth trees including all the Michigan favorites. Water holes are much talked about With good reason so bring a favorite junker or two along and attack boldly for a real challenge. Love Victory Park after just one visit and can not wait to make another soon! Add a couple signs and I’ll add a plus but seriously the pads are marked so venture around a bit you’ll figure it out and yes it is worth it!

My only dislike about this course is no redesigns. All holes have nice length teepads that are in excellent condition. Printed on the teepads are arrows that point in the direction of the basket. It would be nice to have teesigns giving you footage distances of each hole and par info. As some of the holes are par 4's even a par 5 for hole 12. Also benches on some of the holes along with trash bins would be helpful. Also when the park has events going on hole 17 would closed off. Be careful golfing at this course deep in the fall time as the first 8 holes hole tall mature oak trees that bear lots of leaves. I feel this course is very under-rated as this course has lots of variety. Never the same thing over and over again. The water holes are just crazy! Topped with a 990 footer. The only type of fairway this course doesn't offer are wooded holes. This course is not disc golf exclusive and you need to be on the look out for non disc golfers and the numerous events that go on on this park. Otherwise this course truly is a gem.

One of the most fun and challenging courses I've ever played. Wide variety of elevation on front 9 then hope you like water for the back 9. The league members noticed us looking at the sign and asked if we were new to the course. They then explained where to start what to expect and were some of the most friendly people I've encountered on a course. Will definitely make the hour and a half drive out one weekend to play this course.

First time playing here! Had a lot of fun here, in spite of getting humbled on a few holes! Elevation, woods, water, forehands/backhands, bomber holes and some rolling greens. Bring your best game here, as this course is no joke. Hole 10 was my favorite and I would say is the signature hole. Not a fan favorite of the white arrows on the tee pads. I would rather see actual tee signs for distance/par and navigation. Highly encourage a tour guide first time around, or follow another group. Fisherman were out in full force the day I played, took away slightly from my experience. Borders on being a destination course, cant wait to play again. Things you'll need: floater discs, waders, long arm, beer(during round and after), and megaphone(warn fisherman that you are throwing in their general direction.)

A well maintained, brilliantly designed, and technically placed course. I had fun- even though it rained through almost the whole first round I played- and can only wait in anticipation for a nice sunny and dry day the next time I shoot there. The front 9 starts off with a few long and a few short holes -neither of which are easy birdie's. The back nine holes are inspirational, because they show you just how bad you can be at placing a disc where you want it to land. Intricately placed tee's and baskets are stitched into a riverbed that splits and curves snakelike, creating very technical shots, with artificial OB's and water hazards combined. Baskets are 10 feet from riverbed. Take the artificial OB's out and you're still left with placement shots. This may be a deterrent for the casual player, but for those who want a challenge I issue a warning; If you don't tread lightly here or you might be treading water!

Another of my very favorite courses in the country. MANY holes have water hazards. Newbees will hate this course because of the technical placement shots. I LOVE it ! Beautifully manicured course. Professional balance of shots even though there aren't really any "tight woods" shots. But this is Professional disc golf - Michigan Golf ! Make sure to stop by Dark Horse Brewery ( about 20 min. away in Marshall) for Great food and the best beer .

Clean park, free to enter & play, concrete pads and 18 baskets. I see others have also noted the Jeckyll and Hyde style of this beautiful course. Plays like 2 different 9 hole courses, front takes you thru trees and some possible road OBs. While the backside opens up more and takes you over and around water hazards. Hole #10 is an epic DG hole, over multiple bodies of water to a basket on the edge of water. Can be a very tough course if your accuracy is off, but also packs challenging fun to bring you back again and again.

The course is absolutely gorgeous but there are two ways to play it.

1st way: Wear sneakers and/or jeans, get frustrated by the water hazards, and have a lousy time. Because unless you play the water holes incredibly conservatively, you're likely to end up in water at some point. And then you're going to have to decide between playing the rest of your round with uncomfortably soggy feet or abandoning your discs. Neither choice is fun.

2nd way: Wear shorts and waterproof shoes of some sort, like fivefingers or flip flops. Then you can accept the challenges of the water hazards which makes the round a blast. Because if/when you try to clear the water and don't make it, you can just wade out and retrieve them without it ruining the rest of your round.

Great course. Lovely park, not too many people in it, but everyone there was very friendly seeing as it's Albion, small town atmosphere. The first couple of holes seemed pretty simple, but then you get into the middle of it, 9, 10, 11, the 990ft 12th, and the 13th hole on a tiny penninsula, and the course gets very interesting. Only, complaint was that Albion Parks could have provided better maps, considering how long some of the holes are.

The course is layed out in what appears to be a park that already existed before the course. So you can tell the disc golf course was an after thought. Because of this you will be throwing next to people, over people. One of the water holes two people were leaning against the basket with fishing rods so we just skipped this hole (it was 150 feet and we gave ourselves a 3). One hole is 990 feet and goes over water twice. Other than the water the hole is quite boring. Once you make it past the first 7 or 8 holes you get into the water and there is goose poop everywhere! This is because of the river that runs through a decent amount of these holes. There are no signs indicating where you have to go but if you walk around you can find the cement pads and all the pads have numbers on them. I felt like this would be a good fall or early spring course. I say this so you dont have to deal with the goose poo and people walking around the course.

Only real (and small) negative is the lack of signs. Bring a course map and you're fine. Also, be aware of casual park users. Many walkers, people fishing the water holes, etc. Get rid of the civilians, add signs and a concession stand that sells beer and this course is an A+!

Absolutely beautiful piece of property. Just driving into the park I was impressed how clean and well groomed it is. It took me a few minutes to locate hole 1, but once I discovered the course map I knew I was there. The front was pretty fun with good use of elevation changes and o.b. The back had some pretty wild holes. The whole river front was very impressive and challenging. From what I saw Albion is a beautiful town and the course fit perfectly.

From a first time playing perspective: No tee signs or direction around the course. Not good. Had this been several years ago before the age of smart phones I would have gotten pissed off and left not knowing how to navigate the course.

If I was a local or at least a second time player: No tee signs or direction would be just fine.

However I did see a few downfalls. Basically the typical problems with putting a course in a city park. Hole 2 is a shorty but goody, I really dig the pin placement just wish there wasn't a road (and possibly a sidewalk, I didn't look down) that would probably come into play with an errant shot. I did have to skip hole 11 because there were people fishing, Not 30 feet from the pin. Looked like a fun hole. But not worth pissing locals off. Hole 12 was pretty sweet besides having a beach in the middle of the fairway, luckily schools still in session so I was able to play. I imagine that this only takes the hole out of play a few months out of the year. Hole 13 took me a few minutes to locate. Based on the pictures I took of the course map it looked like the tee pad should have been near the road, this was not the case. Hole 17 has picnic tables in the middle of the fairway.

Overall I'm glad I got a chance to play Victory Park. Wish I could rate it higher, but feel safety is a huge issue in Disc Golf. I'm not going to throw around pedestrians, its just not worth the risk. I imagine this would be an excellant winter course. If I can remember correctly the sledding hill did not come into play.

side note: Did only one hole not have a RHBH hyzer shot(18)?

This course is awesome; the first couple holes are deceiving to what the back has in store for you. Start with some wooded shots and progressing to wide open bombs. Then the water holes and massive open arm hole after 8. Park staff is very friendly and actually stopped mowing to wait for us to drive and asked for advice on tree trimming and its impact on the play of the course. If there were tee signs this course would get an A+ from me, add those and I would play it weekly. A few of the holes play over roads, pathways and picnic areas so on a nice day it would be a tad difficult to play and not peg a bystander. Still top notch course for a small town.

It is 2.5 miles North past McDonalds. (I sure they will even get U a bbonfire.) also dog friendly. Ps. No one around there (Albion) is interested in your stupis B*ag Tag's either. and Please pick ur dog turds up and leash. And seriously about the DOG thing my buddy had his Pistol out in the park and we don't need that either.

Hole 9 is where the water comes into play, these waters holes can play tough if one gets scared that there is water. The water holes are fun and play for some technical placement shots and booming drives. Hole 14 is prob my favorite hole cause one has to place a perfect shot on postage stamp green. Holes 15-18 are fun as well, 17 can be tough but throwing a roller makes it parable. Overall prob one of my favorite courses.

Literally my favorite park to play, for one its where I learned the game of disc golf and I think it has everything that a disc golf course needs to have. Distance on a couple holes, Tightly wooded on others, Elevation changes, OB everywhere, Water hazards. It will definitely test your skill and make or break you. That being said I have never shot anywhere close to par here, but I appreciate the course nonetheless. Only thing that would make it superior is signage other than the board in the beginning, it can get confusing especially if you don't realize how long hole 12 is, but to me that is minor.

Beautiful course on the edge of Albion, MI. There are two personalities to Victory.

Dr. Jekyll: Civilized, old growth city park setting with good elevation change. No rough or other trouble. Very nice and fun. This is "perfect" disc golf property in the eyes of many. Holes 1-8,16-18.

Mr. Hyde: Water craziness builds slowly on hole 9, then you are hit with it full frontal on hole 10. You think really? when you step up to the teepad. One of the signature holes in all of Michigan, and this course is very young. The next five holes have serious water OB and precarious pin placements.

Only downside to this park is the other non disc golf players sometimes getting in the way. It's happened to me on hole 17 with picnickers and some of the water holes with people fishing.
