One of my favorite things about Hayco is the wide variety of shots there are. There are several open holes in a huge field, but not the boring kind where you throw 3 or 4 times as hard as you can across a big field. Instead, these open holes are made very interesting and challenging with OB outside the mowed fairway, and a great Mando hole. There are short wooded holes with tight fairways and challenging lines. A fun shot throwing through the barn trying to get out the other side and a couple hundred more feet up into the woods. Possible to birdie, but not uncommon to see a 5. On top of the wide variety is the shear beauty of the place. Nicely kept, and owned by generous people who graciously open their property to the dg community with prior approval. Once teepads are in, it will be an A+ course.

PROS: Gorgeous property; great variety of shots and looks. Big holes, aceable holes, and everything in between. Signature hole through the barn is incredibly fun from white or especially blue tees. Some field holes remind me of a shrunk-down Paw Paw, which is a good thing. Wooded holes are very fair on balance. Horse-related, house-related, and property-line-related OB makes sense and is fair. Owner and family are very welcoming and are a wonderful, generous part of the disc golf community. Course is immaculately maintained. Natural teepads are nice; concrete will be amazing once poured.

CONS: A lot of the tall grass OB in the field seems arbitrary (especially the small patch straight ahead and past the basket on 13), and IMO, unnecessary. That being said, it's easy to avoid the OB if you're used to similar situation (trans: Giles Run). Hole 18 needs a closer drop zone for rec/novice players.

NOTES: If you smoke, DO NOT drop your butts out here (or anywhere). Really uncool for this family to have to pick up gross cigarette butts after letting people play a round on their gorgeous course.

Once this course is beat in and has full teepads and signage, it will be hard to beat as the best place to play in NOVA.

Course is in amazing shape as they take incredible care of it.
