Nice, large cement pads, excellent signage, a good variety of holes (long, short, rugged, open, dogleg both ways), elevation changes, and excellent baskets make this course a blast to play. The fairways need more definition (there's no real difference between fairway and rough); if you don't have a spotter you can spend quite awhile hunting your disc, and a few of the long par 5s need better tee-to-pin location assistance. Bring excess water! It's easy to get dehydrated in this 7500+ foot 18 hole course.

They really got creative with the hole placement and a par putt can quickly turn into a double bogey. Especially on a windy day.
The course was obviously designed by some quality players looking to challenge us and you better bring your A game just to throw even par.

This is my new favorite course. The scenery is great, the terrain is very unique and the course has a lot of fun holes. The tee pads are cement with plenty of room to throw. The course is well marked and professionally designed. Some of the holes are very long, but if you are up for a challenge this is the place to play.

Great course to really get some driving practice in. Once fairway sage brush is taken out to help golfers find their discs it will be that much better.

Excellent use of the natural terrain of this area.
Lots of variety (uphill, downhill, level, short, medium, long, etc.).
Concrete tee pads, DISCatcher baskets, and excellent signage.
All discs come into play (distance, fairway, midrange, putter, overstable, understable).
Par distances are in accordance with PDGA recommendations for a championship level course.
Alternate pin placements.
Alternate/shorter tees for all the par fours and fives.
Trails from basket to next tee, so you don't get lost.
Very challenging. Not the best course for beginners.
Rock formations can be rough on your discs, but the higher grade plastics seem to hold up pretty well.
Located at a fantastic recreational area with scenic views. (mountain biking, four wheeling, hiking, camping, and now disc golf)
If you're in the area it is a must play!

Very challenging. Really rewards folks who have a good enough game to play in 20mph winds, which are frequent. Many (if not most) pins are poised atop rock mounds which makes laying up another skill you'll need to practice. They need to get in with a boom stick and work on some of the Junipers that can make your lie unplayable even when it's only a few paces from the basket.

Course: Ironside DGC—Spectacular Professional Level Course!

Perspective: Intermediate level, Master’s 60+ player with low to intermediate arm strength.

Course Details/Info:
• The Course map and course are to the north as you park in the Disc Golf parking lot in the Three Peaks Recreation Area.
• 18-hole course with two-three alternate pin locations from each tee allowing for varying the course for routine play and tournaments.
• Path between holes is fairly visible on sand and dirt with sign posts pointing from pins to next tee box.

Challenges/Pros:
• Multiple elevations with extensive mature juniper trees and bushes throughout the course with large boulders and slickrock formations dotting the landscape.
• Fairway lengths are long with many exceeding 400-500 feet and Par ranges from 3-5. Scoring is appropriate with some pins down in ravines, surrounded by vegetation, or perched on top of rocky mounds or rock piles. You have to climb many of the rocky mounds and descend into lower elevations from them.
• Be wary of the risk of bouncing off the rock surface and rolling/falling far away from the pin. I used a Vibram Medium X-Link disc for approach shots that helped to avoid this problem on many of these holes.
• Excellent cement tee pads with signage showing the potential pin placements. HINT: Try to spot which pin location has a basket you can identify to guide your play.
• Wind was whistling the day we played this course and we eventually began just casually scoring the course as some 30-40 mph gusts sometimes grabbed discs during ten to twelve foot putts and blew the putters 50 feet away! Very happy when we managed to par an occasional hole in this “typhoon”. Despite that we had an absolute blast!

Opportunities for Improvement:
• Not many things come to mind although everyone should carry water and if there was an ongoing tournament then spotters armed with poles to rescue discs from dense trees when appropriate might be helpful.

Summary of Rating/Play:
• Spectacular professional level course.
• Not a beginner course, or for those who aren’t able to handle tough terrain!
• A dream course for expert players but appropriate for Masters 50-60+ in good physical condition, intermediate-level adults and younger players with good skills.
• Probably the best overall course in the Cedar City and St. George areas.
• Overall, I would rate this as a “A” course which is the highest rating I’ve ever given.
