pros: nice variety of shots, mix of hyzer/anhyzer. natural hazards in ravines and sidewalks. nets for driving and putting baskets near hole 1. lots of tees have benches/shade.
cons: teeboxes have significant dropoffs at front edge. I fell twice and saw a guy fall and break his finger.
will be back.

This course is nice and was very well maintained when I played, but I have heard from frequenters that the grass is often knee high. I played the B layout which is the longer version of the course.

Pros: Easy to navigate with great signage and markers making the basket obvious. Most shots have wide open tees and place obstacles near the baskets making this course very easy to par but somewhat challenging to shoot under. There are some opportunities for aces, but if you go for the basket and miss you might end up down a hill. Practice area is great, it has 2 baskets to practice putting with planks of wood marking distances and a net to practice driving into.

Cons: Just a few bad baskets and overall pretty plain and simple. There's one that's up on the top of a mound of dirt and I personally find those shots frustrating and not fun because you have to lay up from distances where I would normally take a shot. Wind in some areas affects discs a lot.

If you could say one thing about Fehringer Ranch, you could say that it was made and is upkept by people who love disc golf. Everyone has their "home course" which they see as just a little better for that reason, and Fehringer Ranch is mine. In reality, A- is a more realistic grade, but I've had so much fun here that I have to give it a personal bump up.

Like I said before, it is made and upkept by people who love disc golf. It is very well marked, often updated, lots of parking space, and each hole is unique in some special way. Also, I've played this course ~30 times and have never lost a disc, and that's not for a lack of opportunity. If you search for it, the low grass and shrubbery will eventually return your disc to you; there aren't any water hazards to swallow your plastic.

I believe most tee platforms are concrete, and if any aren't, they are packed dirt. Never slipped while driving. Holes 1-3 are warm ups, holes 4-6 are the "Gumdrop Forest", hole 5 is a massive air-out from the top of a ridge, and holes 9-17 trace a small (usually dried out) stream.

Pros:
+Lots of variability in hole challenge, length, handedness.
+The CO winds off the foothills usually provide an additional variable to consider.
+Stunning sights of the CO foothills when playing.
+Hard to entirely lose a disc
+You can cut back to the parking lot after hole 9 somewhat.

Cons:
-Can be incredibly busy.
-Prone to mud in the spring.
-Only a matter of time until I encounter a snake while looking for a disc in the grasses.

Assets - The course has a fun layout that is easy to follow. There is a variety of hole lengths, elevation changes, and technical shots. This course hosts a lot of events (tags, glow, tournaments), and rightly so. It's one of the best in the Denver-Metro area.

Liabilities - Overgrown vegetation means you need to watch your disc or you might spend a long time looking for it. Some man-made OBs make this course unnecessarily tricky, it would be better to move the pins to more difficult locations than make arbitrary OB.

Recommendation - Play this course, and if you like this course, play Bird's Nest, the two courses are practically siblings.

Ferhinger is probably the best course in the Denver Metro (alongside Bird's Nest), has great variety of holes, and even some sort of wooded holes. For the most part wide open, like every course in Denver, but they did a great job working with the land on this one. Grooming can be sketchy at times of the year, but overall it's great...even have a driving practice net setup

Good length. A little elevation change. Good variety of shots. Brand new baskets. My biggest complaint here is the tee pads. Originally I think they were hard clay, but the rain has washed them away, and in most cases, the pads are un-playable. I would recommend throwing off to the side. Update 09/22/15: There are now multiple positions for many of these holes, and one alternate tee pads. The new pin locations are great and add to the overall difficulty/variety of this course. Once they put in cement tee pads, this could be an "A" rated course.
