This course is a beast! One of the top 2 toughest courses I have ever played. If you are looking to score low, avoid the Arboretum. I can only imagine people giving low ratings on this course because it was too hard. Played this course in the thick of the summer and look forward to going back in the fall and early spring. I'm pretty sure many times of the year that a couple of holes play underwater because it had been pretty dry but two of the fairways were still a little wet. It wouldn't bother me to skip those holes if that happened because the course is long. Really loved this course. Played it and then threw two rounds at Dyscfunctional Acres. Great day! 95 out of 100.

Truly one of the most challenging courses I've ever played, maybe #1. Layout is a little confusing, but as the holes go, there are only a couple (actually, maybe one) that aren't incredibly demanding from the tee to the putting green. This course will challenge the most experienced players mentally and physically on almost every shot. I'll admit, there are a couple holes that are almost plain stupid in terms of lines to the basket. This is a killer course that demands respect shot for shot, and that's why I love it. Courses like this one are hard to come by.

By far my favorite course in Michigan. Even though this course is really tough, it is so well designed and well kept that the challenge is worth it. Usually pretty quiet around here, I've only run into a couple of groups while playing Leila. Overall, just a beautiful place to get out, throw some discs and keep yourself humble. Definitely give this course a try. You'll thank yourself and want to go back immediately!

The best word to describe this course is purgatory, some where between heaven and hell. The toughest course I have ever played, played over 160 courses. Small miracle I didn't lose a disc. The toboggan course has a twin sister called Leila. Updated from an earlier review. This course is no doubt one of the best and toughest courses in the state of Michigan. If you think you are ready to be a touring pro, this place is your measuring stick.

I am a beginning disc golfer only one year into play this sport. All I have to say about this course is: welcome to the big leagues! I place this course in the division that Coldbrook park is in the professional division at least in my opinion. This is a fun course to play on but more suited to the intermediate and professional disc golfer, beginners(like myself) will get frustrated easily and not do good here. Is an 18-basket Par 57 single cemented teepad disc golf course within an arboretum. All baskets are DGA and are in excellent shape, all the teesigns are about a year old and are very descriptive as they show a layout of the hole, hole # and hole par. All holes are par three except for holes 5,7,18 that are par fours. Footage distances range from the shortest hole #9 at 210 feet to the longest hole #5 the" football field" which I label it at 830 feet. All holes are blind meaning you cannot see the basket from the teepad except hole #15. In my opinion there are only a very few holes that are aceable. You would have to be a exceptionally skilled disc golfer in order to throw an ace here. In my opinion the only holes that are "ace-able" are holes #1,4,9,15 and like I said it would be solely on luck and skill! The cemented teepads are in excellent shape and the course now has benches on some of holes along with trash bins. Hole #11 is the signature hole to this course and in my opinion one of the coolest fairways I have ever seen on a course. You start on top of a hill and you throw across an open field that is like bowl shape all the way past two concrete pathways to the basket which is hidden beneath a couple of pine trees. This course has a variety of open field shots, to wooden shots and even water comes into play on holes #5,13,16. It should not be a factor unless you throw a really terrible shot or you try to be cute. The wood shots give off a cold brook feel to the them as the trees are numerous and the fairways are narrow. This course will test your techniques as the lines are crazy here. What would make this course even better to allow me to give it an A rating is: short teepads for beginners, next hole signs that would give you a direction to the next hole, and a restroom or a port-a-john. Things to be careful and wary of are elevation is constant here there are times you are going to walk up and down steeps hills, like previously mentioned all the holes except one are blind shots so it is good to either bring discs you are not heartbroken to lose or bring a spotter. Also non-disc golfers like to come to this park as well and I am afraid to even know what some of them are doing there! Also there are pathways that go around the distance of the arboretum and if your not paying attention you may hit someone. One hole #2 that is a pull off where one can park their vehicle and this happens to be right in the middle of the teepad into the fairway. One time I had to go off the teepad and throw so I would not hit the person's vehicle that was parked there. Also be very careful when walking up down the hills in the wooded holes, from what I hear volunteers maintain this park and you will notice tree stumps that were not taken out and are too small to see as they are covered by grass and leaves. I cannot count the endless times I have almost tripped over them. Make sure to either bring a spotter or pay attention to where you threw your disc as some of the holes are either in the woods, or has bushes or tall grass. I have lost two discs here and nothing is more frustrating than losing discs! During the warmer months bring plenty of liquids to keep yourself hydrated, sunscreen and bugspray. You will be getting your exercise here! Also to either bring a map with you or bring someone with you as you will easily get lost here. Also unless someone plans on doing something about this is: Hole #8 teesign layout is wrong. On the current sign it shows the fairway doglegging to the left, when it should be doglegging to the right. I would not recommend golfing here in the winter when there is lots of snow on the ground. Also make sure you are finished golfing by sundown as the park has hours and when it gets dark there are cops who drive around looking for people and they will kick you out when the park is closing. When you enter the arboretum off of west michigan road take a left at where it splits to go either left or right, you will see another pathway which goes to the right, turn right and you will head upwards and it will circle around to a parking lot and a pavilion. When you park you will see hole #1 just to the left of the pavilion. I think once this course gets broken into more and could improve such as being more beginner friendly than this will be one of the best courses in the state of michigan. It just wasn't much fun to play it. There are too many courses around that I would rather play. This course needs a second set of tee pads.

There are still some holes that doesnt have a natural flight path of a line but seeing the results made so far, Im sure its in progress! From a D- to a B in a couple of months is awesome and hoping to see this course as a course played by many and actually enjoyable by more players of different caliber!

Prepare to get your ass handed to you! 18 brand new signs, tees, and baskets laid out in a beautifully kempt park. Navigation from basket to tee can still be confusing and the course could benefit from the addition of alt tees for the casual player. Gotta be ON to save par on the majority of the holes. Probably more fun as a doubles round unless you're a masochist. Not the course to play on vacation with your mom.

Extremely difficult, surprising course here. They have vortex baskets, which are amazing, but no signage and just put cement tees in. With some signs, and maybe markers on the baskets pointing you in the right direction to the next hole, this could be a world class course. I really had fun shooting a +15 and that doesn't happen often. REVISED Cement and signs in and pretty good. They have also been slowly widening some of the fairways, which was needed. A little more beating in, some trash cans and benches, and water/bathroom area, this will be the standard for pro courses in the area.

The tees consist of integrated paved paths and rubber mats, when we played we were told that the cement was in the works. the new gortex baskets are nice word of caution throw hard or your at risk of not staying in. hard course to play but with use it will get better.

Narrow fairways in the woods, no signs (i'm sure they are on the way), difficult to navigate because nearly every hole is blind. Compared with the other great courses in the area I don't believe it will be worth playing as much as I had hoped. :-( Respectable but overall disappointing.

Long holes through the forest that require you to manage your game, big bomber holes with baskets protected by tall pines or tucked behind a small pond. Hyzer's, anhyzers, backhands and forehands. Really a challenging course, but fair. Par will be a really good score, because I don't see many easy birdies on this course.

Incredible course, expertly designed, in a beautiful park. Once it has concrete tee pads and signage, this will be one of Michigan's premier courses. That's what's holding it back from an A+. Right now it's not easily navigable unless you're with someone who knows the course already. And it's tough. Really tough. Might not be a good course for newbies just learning how to play.
