Needs tee pads and signs to be an A+. Still best course in the area. Especially since it's 18 holes and has an abundance of recreational activities to participate in within the course premises. (fishing, camping, running, walking, kayaking, grilling, playgrounds, horseshoes, and whatever other activities that you desire. There's plenty of room to setup a game of football or soccer as well.) Great place for the whole family.
Here's a little additional info that's lacking from my initial review. (9Sep12) The tee signs and pads aren't installed yet. We haven't installed them for a large reason that there just might be a different line that we didn't see during the planning and we might want to move basket or tee locations. Onto the course…. Hole 1 is very deceiving with its distance due to an uphill drive followed by a downhill approach. The basket is guarded on one side by a large tree. Hole 2 creates a low ceiling drive, either backhand or forehand due to the low hanging limbs on the trees. In addition to this you have a tree line on the right and a road marking OB on the left. Hole 3 is a fun "islandish" type of shot with yet again low hanging limbs and a few smaller trees scattered throughout the fairway. (This tee we might see fit to move back an additional 30 feet to provide a little more challenge) Hole 4 is an uphill tunnel shot with the basket on a slope after the tunnel area opens up. There are many avenues to the drive, even my go to of an overhand throw. Hole 5 is an open fairway which then narrows down to a gap between two trees. Once you make it through this gap, a dogleg right follows. Hole 6 creates ample ways to drive but leads to a heavily guarded hanging basket in a nest of trees. Hole 7 is a nice blind anny/flick shot with the basket at the base of a large oak. Hole 8 is our second hole to claim the most discs. Dogleg left peninsula shot! Need I say more? Hole 9 is dead open up until your approach. It offers a few large trees to navigate through but not too many to loose a disc in. Hole 10 is basically a filler hole but it's our "Ace Race" hole. It's wide open with the fairway tapering down to behind the basket. Throw it off, you're OB. Hole 11 is our water hole. Nothing but 320+ft of water and enough land to nestle a basket on. This hole claims the most discs. Hole 12 provides water to the left and an OB parking lot on the right. Trees through the fairway but one can achieve a birdie with the right line and the right amount of power. Hole 13 is about a 35ft wide anny tunnel shot. Keep it in the middle and you're fine. Veer off the path, you're in the "thick". Hole 14 places a large tree in your face to the left of the tee pad. Eitherthrow over the top or throw a nice hyzer. Either way, get it to stick or it's rolling down hill, OB. Hole 15 is the bomb shot. Over 500ft and on a large slope. To the left you have Moon Lake and if you place it too far right, you're in the woods again. The woods aren't OB but they aren't fun to be in. Hole 16 is another open "Ace Race" type of hole. It might seem easy at around 300ft but don't discredit the downhill grade. Anywhere off the fairway is a place that'll set you back strokes. Hole 17 shares a tee pad with 16. Yes it shares on but it's going to be a very large "Y" shape tee pad. This, I feel, is the hole that you have to work the hardest to obtain par. Your drive has to clear the large lake overflow ditch, clear the trees and land in a spot to where you can cleanly throw to the basket. If you don't overthrow your approach or hit one of the many low hanging branches, you'll obtain par. Hole 18 is a short and sweet finesse hole. Either throw a light anny around the right or flick it around the left. Either way, there's a cluster of trees that guard the basket and you won't have a shot unless you clear this obstacle. Some do find it possible to find an opening in the trees and throw through them. From there you walk back to hole 1. It's a longish hike but gives ample time to talk about the game, crack open a drink and even cool off. If it's in tourney play, everyone is making the same walk so it won't slow down the pace.
Well, this is the edit to my review. It's more like a review/course flow. I hope you enjoy and come out to play. We try to keep course maps stocked at the entrance to the park. Please feel free to stop by and grab one before playing.
