Diverse and flat, well maintained and challenging 20 hole course. The front 9 is longer and more open with pines dotting the landscape. Shot placement in landing zones is necessary on a few holes. Nice basket placement next to guardian trees. The back 11 holes are shorter (except hole 20), heavily wooded, tight and technical. Tee signs are misleading on some holes but next tee signs and bright blue trash cans at the next pads aid navigation. The diamond dust pads are adequate but uneven on a few holes and the Chainstar baskets are fine. The only real course hazard is a mini pond surrounded by sand 100 feet in front of the last hole. A portajohn is located before the first hole and a few picnic tables and benches are on the course.

This course quickly just became one of my favorites. Great tee pads, great variation of shot shapes and distance. And you have a few Long, golf course style holes, transitioning into some of the coolest wooded holes I’ve ever played. For it being mostly flat, it’s one of the best courses in Michigan, In my opinion. This course is about as challenging as Hunts Hideaway and a similar flow with woods and fields.

Nice fall round. Mix of open and tight wooded holes. Natural tee pads were very flat, grippy and in terrific condition. Benches, trash receptacles, and next tee markers were in abundance. Navigation was simple. Some tee signs needed replacing, as wear has made them difficult to use with parts worn or torn away. This is a tight course and tree hits and kicks will come into play. I did not find the lines unfair, but your technical game will be tested...along with your scramble game. Very little trash on the course and it is obvious someone is taking care of this gem. Well worth the stop if in this area of the state.

Pros:
Trash bags at every hole, plenty of seats, well-kept fairways and lots of shade.

Cons:
Far away from my house, natural pads (when dry they're still great)

After playing several mountainous courses over the past few weeks (Myles, Hickory, Avalanche), I was really looking forward to playing a flat, level course for a change. Well, it was flat, I'll give it that.
One of the other good things about it was how well it was maintained. The signage was laminated paper, but it was very effective in giving an idea of the shape of the hole. The Next Tee signage was ever-present & certainly helped lead the way to then next teepad. The teepads were some sort of crushed stone and I really liked them. The were very flat & level. I wonder how they work in the wet weather. My guess would be pretty damn good.
An eight to twelve foot gap does not for a fairway make. So many of the holes had ridiculous golf lines. There just were not many birdie opportunities. And not that every hole has to be birdie-able, but come on, give us a few. A fairway should be just what the name says, a fairway to get to the basket.
One of the main things I usually look for on a course is equal balance of left, right & straight pin placement (in a perfect world, there should be six of each on an eighteen hole course). This course it just didn't matter because of the lack of a good, clean route to the basket.
Overall, this is an average course, with some good attributes, but just didn't thrill me.

On all tee pads are signs of the hole layout which is very helpful. Aside from the course itself the people ate friendly and plenty of nature and wildlife to take in.

Great course! The only issue is POISON IVY. It's everywhere. Try to go on a day where it's not too hot because you might want to wear long pants. It's in the fairway and the woods so laying in the grass probably isn't the smartest idea.

The course itself is a lot of fun though if it wasn't for that and all the mosquitoes. It starts out on a mound with widened trails and woods along the edges and then progresses into a wooded course once you get toward hole 10. Ends up shooting at hole 20 all the way across the entire old runway and across a pond. Definitely worth the trip if you're not too far away!

I walked the course, but left them money for what I saw being done. Excellent work, can't wait to get back up there and play. Note to the disc golf gods: yes, I should have left the disc where I found it. No, I was not upset that you took the disc back. To the dude whose disc I found then lost, sorry.

Big props to the designers of this course for using the land well to create a good final design. This course continues to grow each time I visit it, but it still has a lot of potential to achieve. Obviously, tee pads and tee signs are needed. Maintenance has got to be very difficult in this area, but it's a big playing factor. The grass is overgrown anywhere that's not the direct fairway. I know this course is still new, but the fairways REALLY need to be cleared on the wooded holes. Walking through ferns and other low forest plants does not make for a good fairway, even if defined by the trees. Still a lot of fun to play, with a good design.

With some time to get beat in followed by the addition of cement pads and more detailed tee signs, this course will be perfect. Very much worth the drive to play the new and improved course.

Made our way back up to East Tawas again this summer and of course I brought my bag with me so I could get my out-of-state disc golf fix.

I was pleasantly surprised when driving up 23 towards Tawas to see a sign that lets travelers know about the course. Good work! Pulling up to the course I was also glad to see a big, colorful, and very easy to read course marquee. The maps are a welcome addition too.

The front side looked great. Fairways were cut and easy to navigate. Nice job on the tee signs and distances, it makes a huge difference knowing what to look for out there. The wood/timber posts are easy to spot and the 'next tee' signs after the baskets are helpful as well.

I really like hole #9. Gives you a chance to grip and rip a long one (or two, or three). The back nine through the woods received a HUGE amount of help from the signage and directional arrows. Playing there for the first time last year, I got hella disoriented a few times and didn't quite know where to go except if I backtracked to the previous hole (this is where the complimentary maps come in handy too). MUCH easier to work your way through the woods with the addition of all the signs, arrows, and flags.

I enjoyed taking a few minutes to putt at the pole hole near the 20th tee. I've played a few courses that have pole holes but most are wood. Pretty sweet to hear the change in tone depending on where on the pole you hit it. Are there any other poles still on the course?

All in all, in only one year's time this course has seen some significant improvements that make a challenging course well worth the drive into Au Gres.

Great job to the designer and the locals that do the maintenance. Your work and efforts are appreciated! Looking forward to my next trip back to the mitten and OADGC!

very interesting. have never been to a course that has poles instead of baskets. most of you were right about the sweet noise that the hollow poles make. got my first ace here so i thought it was pretty sweet. good mix of long and short holes. not much variation in right or left, in other words a lot of straight away holes. got lost going from hole 12 to 13. was kinda confusing. overall i enjoyed myself. it was nice to get to a course away from the normals i usually go to

As of July 2013 redesigned as a 20 hole course with Chainstar baskets. Very well groomed, pretty easy to follow trails with natural posts and simple tee and directional signs.Made from years of love for the property and disc golf from the designer and builder Ron Peludat. The City Of AuGres owns the property and is VERY receptive to advancing the course more than ever. Many are promoting the idea of a Pavilion, walking and bike trails, additional parking and more. In other words, a really great park. The 2013 totally redesigned course includes many longer holes and 10 new holes going through an entirely different section of woods on the Old Airport property. Tight and technical and long and open, a challenge for all and if all goes as planned, an additional 7 or maybe even 16 holes may be added. Some holes can be wet in the spring. Volunteers and donations are always welcome, contact The City of AuGres, Michigan. 2016 saw the installation of diamond dust tee pads and the improvement is not perfect on all 20, but it is a 100% improvement across the board with many tee pads resembling concrete pads.. Diamond dust is the surface of infield ball diamonds. This stuff is somewhat finer and on most all pads, the surfaces have stayed quite secure and flat. And in my opinion, they are much easier on knees and the feet. Grooming of the course remains superb from late spring throughout summer and fall.
