This course is extremely unkept it hasn't been maintained in years the first three baskets don't even have Fairways straight through the woods the first basket looks like it got hit by a falling tree basket 6 had a dead squirrel on top of it that look like it has been there for a month it's about a ten-minute hike from the last basket to The First Tee it wouldn't be a bad easy 9 with a little upkeep

My son has a soccer game in Wadsworth today so i figured i try it and see if there were any upgrades. Everything is over grown. Full trees fallen and blocking entire fairways. Tee signs and pads non existent still. Wadsworth obviously doesn't take any pride in this park at all. Had the potential to be a very nice 9 hole course. Probably still does, but until somebody steps up and takes ownership of this course don't waste your time.

This course isn't as bad as a lot of people might say (myself included). The holes provide a relative challenge yet it is a great course for beginners. However, on several holes I feel like there is always at least one pedestrian in the fairway. And hole nine ends throwing at the sidewalk. There is however a serious issue with drainage. Many holes and consequently teepads get super muddy. Minor adjustments, completed steps on hole one and quality signage would make this course a solid B in my book. Wish I had time to devote to development.

The local park patrons did add a level of problems but no big egos or attitudes like other parks. Don't go in expecting the world but definitely could see this course having a lot of potential.

Not a destination course but if your in the area and/or you have kids theres an awesome playground and you can get in a couple holes.

Hole 3 is just silly. 2 isn't far behind. Hole 6 is great though. Its got a few different possible ways to get there. I like hole 9 as well. Even with some work clearing some brush and putting in concrete tees isn't going to save the weak layout. I do appreciate the work done putting in a course out there though. Wadsworth needed one.

Other than that, solid course.

Nice short course very close to where I live. Could be marked better. My biggest problem is this first hole. In June (approximately) someone dug out a hole for concrete. I was excited because I thought they were putting tees in. I was mistaken. The hole is still there and hasn't been touched. This makes it very difficult to drive considering the hole takes up a majority of the area that you would tee off. To make matters worse after they dug the hole they started building a set of stairs by the same tee. Then they didn't finish those either. So now there is a big hole at the tee and an unfinished stairway that is now more dangerous than the small hill that was there previously. I understand it costs money for supplies but if you are going start doing things to improve the course you should probably make sure you have everything you need and have the ability to finish it.

There are several elevation changes and a nice mix of open and wooded holes. Some shorter and many longer holes to test any level. It can get pretty muddy when it's wet, so keep that in mind. Fun course and definitely worth the trip! Some unique baskets as well, have fun!

Hole 7 is probably the toughest hole. I live in Wadsworth, but with Medina and Portage Lakes being so close, it's worth the extra drive to play elsewhere for now.

My wife and I "stumbled" upon the new course yesterday (10/8/11) while walking through the park. We have been looking for a nearby course for quite awhile. As we walked around we saw some very poor placements. As mentioned in Mitch's review, some of the baskets are too near the walking path. #6 is only a couple of feet from the "swampy" part of the lake. Retrieving your disc could be messy. The drive from #7 tee to the lay-up area has a bridge and swamp directly behind it. A slightly longer toss can cause loss of another disc. And, I agree that #8 should go right to the open area instead of through the swing set. Also, does anyone know where there is a scorecard and/or complete layout for this course.

I like the mix of holes, and cant wait to see the back nine put in so you don't walk a pointless half mile back to your car:) I would also like to see some of the bad trip hazards removed or at least spray painted.

This course is now even more playable. Concrete tees are in, and they're fantastic. Holes 2, 3, and 4 are redesigned for more distance, less public interference, and reduced interference between holes. Some of the holes are of a good degree of difficulty, but it's still playable for all skill levels. I'd never have thought this would be a recommended stop, but it's really starting to approach that. Most of my criticisms/suggestions below seem to have been addressed like I had a part in it or something, but really it's been people other than myself putting in the efforts and making a difference. (Just to throw in a suggestion: remove the unnecessary second mando on hole 15.) Check it out!

NEW REVIEW:
This course is now 18 holes, with continuing improvements. If you've played here in the last few years, you won't recognize it to some degree. It's absolutely phenomenal what's happening here. I will now be here like all the time since it's close.

I ran the Discraft Ace Race here for 5 years, but never had time to pursue further. The expanded course clearly took some inspiration from my Ace Race layouts, and I am quite happy about that. I was approached apparently months ago about the expansion, but didn't get the message, so even though I have a couple wish list items, I am far from complaining.

Holes 1-7 are almost identical to the original, but seriously improved. The first tee is now concrete, hinting at what the rest will look like. I love it. They plan on mulching wooded fairways where needed. They trenched the drainage channels better and put in gorgeous crossovers. The stairs on 1 are finally finished. On the front 7, hole 5 is lengthened considerably. It sounds like on/over the paved walking path will NOT be OB. The only notable criticisms are the same as before, primarily that 3 tee is way too close to 2 basket, and that 4 basket is blind and near a paved park path that moms walk their babies in strollers and such along...just a bit dangerous. Again, I'm not wanting to complain because this all is fantastic.

From hole 8 on, it's fully redesigned. They use the space very well. It's a very intermediate length (think Wingfoot but mostly tighter), and is plenty challenging, though there are several ace/deuce opportunities. There are plenty of ways it's not too forgiving. Holes 9, 12 (especially), 16, and 17 are either exact or close approximations of holes from ace races and alternate layouts. Only criticisms here: Hole 13, while great, has a similar problem to hole 4 (by the paved path), and when you look at the breakdown:
Straight-ish: 1, 2, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12, 14, 16, 17
Dogleg Left-ish (favoring RHBH): 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 15, 18
Dogleg Right-is (favoring lefty backhand or righty forehand): 13

So there is only 1 "lefty hole". You could argue a couple straightish are lefty-preferred, but there are more than that that might be argued righty-preferred.

The only real suggestion I could make on that end, though, before concrete tees are in, are to consider changing 8 & 15, almost opposite of each other but to the same baskets, in a way that could easily make them definite "lefty" holes.

Again, this concern is far overshadowed by the REALLY AMAZING work done by those who have put their time and effort into these improvements. Wow. Just wow.

It's not an easy course even for a righty. There are lots of excellent looks in the layout of this course. I've heard there will be a few appropriate mandos added as well, but they won't detract from the course (but they will take away some lefty-preferred lines)

You owe it to yourself to check this course out!

ORIGINAL REVIEW:
It is EXTREMELY important to note that this course is a work in progress. I think this course has a ton of potential. Holes 1,2,3,7 involve TIGHT fairways, high potential to add multiple strokes if you ricochet of a tree. A few holes also have TIGHT greens, especially 3. There are a few groves of poison ivy in areas (esp. 4 & 7. A few holes have public area interference, but most notable is that 4 is right near a walking path and you can't see walkers coming from the one direction on the path. Also, hole 9 ends nowhere near where 1 begins. Short but still challenging...lots of birdie opportunities, but errant throws can be very costly. Pretty course. Holes 1-3 are also Wadsworth's dirty little secret: I've removed a sink, 3 tires, 2 computer monitors, a vacuum cleaner, and 50+ bottles/cans from these holes so far. I think I missed a toilet.

A tantalizing 9 hole crazy, interesting, fun course. A couple major interference issues with other park activities (walking path, swingset, parking lots) that may be dangerous. First handful of holes wind down a wooded area, from there you toss around a large pond, then over a steep ravine, and finish among some mature trees. Potential is there to fine tune the layout, clear out the wooded holes, and hopefully expand into a full 18 hole course.

Dangerous: the walking path comes into play on most of the holes that aren't in the woods. and the one hole that doesn't, plays THROUGH a swing set.

Another danger is that the tee boxes are almost withing the 30ft circle of the prior basket on some holes.

Still needs a lot of clean up

Other Thoughts: I understand that this is a new course, and it needs some TLC. My judgments in this review have nothing to do with this. The design is just poor. Its thrown together, with no concern of for the safety of non golfers and golfers alike.

There is a beautiful pavilion on site, why not start the course there. Or at least go near it. It would be perfect for running events. the sign for the course might even bring new people into the game who are using the pavilion for other reasons.

why does hole 8 play to the left of the shule therefore making the swing set be in the fairway. If you design it to the right, you avoid the danger and that area behind it looks great for a fairway.

I've been following the progress of this course for awhile on face book. I was excited to get another course up in my area. But this course really feels thrown together, which shocks me for how long the fund raising process to to get baskets.

I'm hoping that this place gets redesigned, it really is a nice park, it would be a shame for those baskets to really go to waste, along with the people putting it together's time. And an even bigger shame for some one to get hurt, and if the current layout remains, it will only be a matter of time before someone does.

Pros

- Plenty of parking and there is a top notch kids play area called Kaleidescope next to Hole #1’s Tee.
- There is a sign for the entrance to the park and there is also a nice billboard for the course next to Hole #1’s Tee
- The map is very simple but accurate
- Natural tees are in decent condition
- Baskets are new and in fantastic condition
- There is a decent mix of shots required. Hole #2 has a lot of obstacles and may take the longest to decide what type of throw to do. A good decision is needed as some of the rough here is Very Rough. You can actually find yourself in extremely tough spots to even pitch out on with the first 4 holes. By the time I finished 9 holes I had thrown nearly all the shots I know of including a roller which is handy on Hole #8. Hole #8 currently has some trees to be cleared and leads to a blind basket to the right with a low overhang.
- The baskets were placed in some very nice and challenging shots. For example, #4 & #8 are tucked behind trees that you need to go around and #5 is in a line of trees challenging you to risk a shot that turns left or try for the right turn or straight shot.
- The scenery is pretty, the course plays around a pond in the middle with quite a few different kinds of birds that frequent the area. The landscape does not have large rolling hills but this course is not totally flat. You will find yourself throwing over a few small ravines and over some small hills.
- The park has good upkeep and the grass is always cut. This area can get very muddy though so beware in the rainy season and after big storms.
- The disc golf course is not very busy by disc golfers but the park itself may have some visitors walking on the path or fishing in the pond. Holes of concern are #5 which has a picnic table in the fairway and #8 which has a parking area to the left and a swing set straight ahead.
- Hole #6 is a very fun, short throw at a basket with the pond directly behind it. It’s short enough that you really want that birdie but the water a few feet away makes this a fun, gut-wrenching hole.
- There is no vandalism now except for the stolen basket on #3, but the club that is building this course fixed the other parts of the destroyed property very quickly

Cons
- The natural tees are not yet marked but there is a post in the ground that is labeled with the hole number
- Signs have not yet been installed for tees or for next tee’s
- Still some clearing to be done yet on a few holes. There are trees marked for removal. #8 still needs some trees removed so that you are not trying to throw a right turn around the trees which makes you initially aiming at a swingset. Maybe the tee for #8 could be moved far to the right to make this hole safer? Also, this hole does play into #9’s fairway a bit. There was a group behind us and their drives landed in front of as we were tee’ing off at #9.

Other Thoughts
- Another good course to bring the family to. Hit up the playground, have a picnic in one of the pavilions and grill some food. Then hit a quick round on this small course.
- The flow at this time is very off because only the first 9 holes are installed and when you finish the 9th hole you are very far from #1’s tee. Having said that, the flow works very well for the first 9 holes. Baskets lead right into the next tees in most circumstances. A few next tee signs could be used for #4 to #5, #6 to #7 & #7 to #8. Note that #7 is actually across the street.
- The baskets are somewhat close to the tees on the first 4 holes. I won’t list this as a Con because I believe they are far enough away to not be a total danger, this is just an FYI so that you warrant some consideration and keep an eye out for other golfers.
- This may be a short course, with no holes over 315’ and 7 holes under 300’, but it is an intelligent use of the land available and I am excited to see the course when it is finished.
- I’m sure there are multiple bathrooms but I did not look for them
- The course is semi-challenging right now. It’s easy to get a 5 if you find yourself with a bad tree bounce but nearly all the holes have ace potential. Great place for a beginner and rec player to be challenged.
- My favorite hole was a tough decision. I really enjoyed hole #6 & #7. #6 has that tight shot at the water with the nice view of the park but if I had to choose, I’d say #7 is my favorite. This is the longest hole on the course at 315’ and it leads to a small hill then down into a small ravine with a bridge then fades left to the pin which on top of a small hill. The fairway is very tight but there is a path to the basket through the clearing with low overhanging branches.
- At this time it is not a destination course but I am excited about having this course here. The club that is creating this course right now is doing a lot of hard work and I’m sure that the end result will be a course that is much higher rated than I am rating it right now. I of course will be back to update my review then to give the course a proper rating. Huge thanks to the club running this project.
