NOTICE: I was approached by the Powder Mill property owner due to last weekend's event (also concerns with conflicts due to Marji Gessick race at Old Town). For future events, all organizers MUST provide their own insurance including Named Insured Certificates for the property owners. UPDGA is responsible for the Powder Mill, Silver Creek, and Al Quaal courses, and has entered into Land Use Agreement easements with the property owners to provide, construct, and maintain them. The Association maintains insurance policies covering all property owners, as well as the equipment the Association owns and operates. Since UPDGA owns the course equipment and is responsible for replacement and upkeep due to wear and tear, the Land Use Agreements allow fees to be collected for other use of the course. For 2023 and on, any other entity looking to reserve the courses for an event will be required to provide certificates of insurance and pay a reservation fee ($250 per day, $150 per half day, $50 per league night).

Original 9 is still open, with brand new blue Innova Discatcher 28 baskets. Soon we will be closing the Original 9 due to construction.
New Front 9 is technically open, although very soon as this winter dies off we will be in need of volunteers to finish the new course construction. The New Front 9 also has brand new Innova DC28 baskets, so you can play 18 unique holes. Tee signs are coming sooner than later. Both the pro tee and the am tee are rough leveled, but need to be finished, framed, compacted, and turf installed.
The New Back 9 construction will begin as soon as weather allows. It will include new #10 down the old ski run to Teal Lake below, and up into the ski trails on the north of the lodge. The area where the existing Original 9 are will become just 4 longer holes. New Back 9 will also have pro tee and am tee per hole.
Basically this layout and course page should be retired by July, and the entirely new 18 hole course should be added.
Hit up Disc Da UP on FB to volunteer, and meet with the construction coordinators onsite. You simply need to sign a waiver, and you could begin raking and tamping the tees so we're ready to go when product arrives!!!

Brand new Innova DC28 baskets have replaced the old baskets from the current 9 hole layout. Work will soon begin on 9 holes in the ski trails to the east, and then the original 9 will be dismantled as work begins on another 9 holes which will start by throwing down to the boat launch area and continue up into the hills to the north.

#1 is the old #5 basket moved into the trees a little bit
#2 is the old #6 basket
#3 is the old #9 basket
#4 is the old #1 basket
#5 is the old #8 basket moved to the other side of the shrubs
#6 is in a new position up the hill
#7 is the old #3 basket
#8 is in a new position down the old #4 fairway on the leftside
#9 is the old #9 basket

All the tee spots are new, except tee # 8 is the old tee #4.

Great course, popular place for students from Northern Michigan University, which is about 15 minutes away. Huge drives, great for taking your dogs for some exercise too (ignore the "leash policy" in the picture of hole 1, because I've seen countless dogs there without collars, and no one bats an eye).
