Challenging course with right side lake on front nine and right side rough on back nine. Water fly overs, technical tunnel shots, trees, tall grass and urban activity make you think. When I want safe, I play Oyster Bay. I'm new but enjoy the difficulty and opportunity to learn how to play these holes. Yes, there are park users but it's nice to be in a diverse environment in an urban center. World class kitesurfing in the bay so YES there will be wind, usually in the afternoon. I throw floater discs over a few of the holes and carry a retriever. I think the course is difficult but fair and deserves a higher rating. Then again, less crowded for me....

The most under-rated and beautiful course in the area. The original "Pebble Beach of disc golf" with it's water holes; this place has a long history. This course rocks. First off, all the misconceptions about this park are either wrong or old news! This course is not for the faint of heart. This is designed by professionals. This is the Pebble Beach of disc golf. Heavy winds with throws over water. Short to long holes. 20 holes on the course with a practice basket. All Mach X's except two old school classic vintage baskets. Challenging course. Most people won't go under par here not because the course sucks but because it's actually hard.

The course has been cleaned up a lot. More help from the city to clean and clear bushy and nasty sports are almost all gone. The city now mows and keeps it clean.

This course should be rated higher. I see some really terrible courses on this site that are rated way higher. Mostly due to people complaining more about losing a disc and not about the play of the course. If you lose your disc, it's your fault not the courses. Most people that aren't as good at the game will not like this course I believe because it seems like people want courses to be birdie every whole! Sorry folks, real life kicks in and you find out a well designed course is going to have some wholes made to birdie and some wholes you are happy to get a three. This is one of those courses where you have to play consistent. If you don't your going to find your self hating the course because it's to difficult not that it's a shit course.

Yes there can be a high volume of walkers but it's the Bay Area! Of course in a city setting on the water with amazing sunsets and beautiful wildlife, Redtale Hawks, Great Herons, snakes, Bat Rays, and leapard sharks all can be seen. This is a Marsh land naturally. So it can absolutely get muddy and a bit smelly but that's the fun.

The signage is getting better and the teepads are mostly sement blocks with a few from the path.if this course had better signs and pads it wold be a world class course when setup in the most difficult positions.

Don't trust the ratings on any course before you play there yourself. Ask any pro from the bay area and they will tell you the truth about this course. Gey out there and enjoy life at all the parks.

With no other users I would rate the course B+ to A-.
I have played this course hundreds of times and continue coming back.
Course map at ebdgc. org , water, restrooms, 19 mach x baskets, cement tee pads (or painted marks on the path). Park at the north end near the playground, course kiosk obvious from park entrance and near tee one. No tee signs but the tees are subtly marked.

Wow, I was semi-dreading going to this course, what with all the wind, baskets by the water, mud, good chance of losing disc(s), and the proximity of the promiscuous bushes. But I'm here to tell 'ya, I had a blast at that course! That's a pretty darned good course! If the darned course had any signage and all of its tee pads, it could be an A or A- course.

We were lucky that we went on a beautiful day with little wind and very few other golfers, and I would like to play this course again. Like previous reviewers said, you will probably lose a disc or two on this course, and I did lose two - and my brother lost one. We both lost discs in the drink on Hole 18, (the next disc I threw cleared the water easily), and I lost a disc high up in a tree on Hole 16. I don't think that disc will come out even in heavy rain or wind. The other thing that was true for us, is that there are a lot of walkers and joggers at the park and sometimes you do have to wait a bit to throw your disc. Hole 9 is like that and there are a couple of others that are not quite as bad ...

We, also, never found the tee pad for Hole 10 ...

One more thing: the "main" parking lot for this course starts you off at Hole 11, so to play the course in order you have to walk the whole length of the course to get to Hole 1, and then walk the whole course again to get back to your car after Hole 18, (in addition to walking the length of the course twice more while playing it). I would advise trying to park at the north end of the park to avoid this "problem" ...

This course now has tee signs mounted on little tree stumps! Glossy new signs! Very nice improvement!

This was my Home Course for years and it is challenging as well as professionally laid out. While it is true that this course has seen better days (Early 90's Hay Days), it is still a pretty well maintained course (except for signage). An active club in Berkeley has helped lately, and now there are regularly maps at the 1st tee/mail box and alternate pin placements every other week or so.

Important note to first timers! This is a Water Course with a Lagoon on the West (front 9) and Train Tracks in the East (back 9). Discs will be lost! Know your "Casual Water" rules here as well.

Also, equally important for some, this was, and is still, a long time hang-out for Gay men in the East Bay. Not a big deal, but you may notice this, especially around holes 8-11. Mostly everyone is polite and civil, but "spotters" are definitely recommended as there is a lot of foot traffic after 10AM. I usually would play rounds in early morning and Dusk for minimal Oblivious Traffic. Cheers and Good Drives to ALL!

If you like to lose discs and walk in the blackest mud ever play here. Every hole you are thinking, "I hope I can find where it lands." You literally play between the railroad tracks and a giant lake. Oh and there is constant wind. Five holes you throw over large bodies of water. It also seems run down. Many holes had no signs and you threw drives from a walking trail. It may have been fun 15 years ago when it people actually took care of that park but now its just depressing.
