A steadily improving and evolving course. 14 holes of woods golf and 4 holes in the fields. Excellent use of elevation. The course could do with one or two more dogleg holes, but it's a great place to practice subtle line-finding shots such as hyzer flips, turnovers, and straight-up-the-gut tunnel shots.

Underratedly pretty in all seasons and great spot to get partnered up with a rando on Wednesday nights from spring to fall, High Plains is a hidden, albeit somewhat rough, gem in SW CT, an area where it is hard to get a course installed.

There are a lot of things I like about this course: it's close to my house, it's generally pretty quiet, the holes are mostly pretty short (which is good, because my drive is weak!), the tee-offs have good maps, and there are a couple of good opportunities for birdies in the 9 holes. I'm pretty used to the layout, but it can be confusing for the first-timer, since there is little indication given at the basket about how to get to the next tee (though if you remember to check, there is a little arrow given on the map at the tee-offs).

This course is fun. It takes me on average about 40 minutes to complete. Even though the park is small, you can get a decent workout while navigating the terrain. Basket 8 is the most interesting to me. You throw from one hill over a valley towards another hill where the basket is located. I would like to see tee pads in the future.
