This is easily the best course in the Rocky Mount area and one of the strongest courses in North Carolina east of I-95, with excellent land featuring woods, hills, elevation, and exposed rock. • Outstanding variety in hole length and design, ranging from short technical holes to true par-4 and par-5 looks, with a balanced mix that never feels repetitive. • The course flows well and starts and finishes near parking, with an alternate start near holes #10–11 that could arguably improve the overall round. • #2 is the signature hole, an uphill throw to a basket set on top of rock with great views, while the stretch from #6–8 along the river is scenic and fun, and holes #12, #15, and #17 provide excellent elevation and variety. • Wooded fairways are wide enough to allow aggressive play, offering a refreshing contrast to tighter, more punishing wooded courses. • The main drawback is safety, with several holes playing near or across walking trails and multiple blind tee shots, compounded by minimal tee signage.
