Pros: Intermediate course that would challenge beginners and provide minimal challenge for advanced players set in a neighborhood park. Holes are on the shorter side.

Baskets - 18 grippy baskets that are fairly new. And the hole number on the basket. Mach 5's.

Tees - 18 large concrete tees per hole. Holes 8 and 10 have an alternate dirt tee to avoid throwing over water.

Signs - course map at new start of course. Some of the holes have been changed since map was made so it is labeled on map. Each hole has a nice sign labeling hole number, distance, and a decent picture of hole.

Variety - Almost all of the holes are under 300 feet. 16 is the longest hole at 510 feet. Most holes in the 200-300 range. Hole are mostly open but have several mature trees to create challenge. A few blind shots due to wooded area and elevation on 13, 14, and 15. 4 water hazards can get into your head.

Water hazards - Holes 1, 8, 10, 11 have water hazards. 8 and 10 throw over water. Errant throws on 12 and 15 can make their way into the water.

Elevation - Holes 3, 13, 14, 15, 17, and 18 have slight to moderate elevation.

Holes recently renumbered to create better flow and to provide more parking. Water holes start at hole 8 as opposed to hole 2 in the past.

Benches or picnic tables near 1, 4, 5, 7, 8, and the walk to 17

Playgrounds are on property to distract the family.

Very peaceful and scenic park.
Cons:

Only one tee per hole. Being the first 18 hole course in Kokomo, alternate tees which are nice.
Course could use more trash cans and benches to help make this park more peaceful and scenic.

Creek can easily overflow leaving entire holes under water.

Lots of goose poop on the fairways and sometimes the tees. Be careful.
Other Thoughts: I like this course. The concrete pads really helped to elevate the playability of this course. I did not had a bad time here. Always fun and challenging.

I would like to play this course more but it's out of my way. I would recommend it to any intermediate or beginner player looking for a challenge. Kokomo has a second course called the Preserve, check it out Rufus.

This course is OK. The course is almost completely on a lightly wooded floodplain, so aside from the back 7 or so holes, it's mainly 300' flat shots around some trees or maybe over some water. The water hazards are pretty interesting, and the terrain on the later holes is pretty cool, but the course overall is pretty easy and boring in terms of layout.

As for the upkeep, the teepads are nice concrete full length, and the baskets are older, but no super terrible, you wont get stupid spitouts. There is a pretty clear map at the start near the gazebo and the park is very nice.

I give it a C+ for two reasons.
1: The layout. It's boring. It got old fast. I learned to play on this course, but after visiting several other courses it's clear that this isn't the best.
2: There is a brand new course at Crossroads Community Church that is just a lot better. The entire course is either wooded or very hilly, and it is overall just a much better design, and slightly more challenging green. The only real draw to highland was that it was the only local course, but now it's just second fiddle to a newer, better course.

Final thought: This course is good enough, but if you are looking for a challenge, or only have time to play a single course in passing while in Kokomo, I highly recommend The Preserve over the highland course.
