Well maintained mixed use park course. The front 9 is mostly wooded and the back 9 more open. Not very technical. Pretty wide fairways. Mild elevation throughout. Forgiving rough. The Gold tees have 5 bomber holes ranging from 600-800 feet. The Red holes range from 204-429 feet. Nice tee post signs but additional next tee signs would aid navigation. The 2 sets of cement pads are in nice condition. The Chainstar baskets are relatively new. Plenty of paved parking and a restroom.

Pros:

Designed in partnership with Joe Gill, and if you've played Blue Gill, you know he's great. This course is mostly long and mostly open. The Championship Course is aptly named. It is a beast. The woods sections have fair fairways but have some teeth in the rough. They force you to throw some very specific lines if you want to park them.

I was worried when it opens up (around hole 7 or so) that this course would get boring. Most of the holes from then on are placed in a large, slightly hilly, field that is peppered with large mature tress and some rough patches.

I was wrong. Almost every one of these holes has something more to it than just an open drive. Elevation change is used beautifully on the holes without trees or rough. 12 is an awesome risk/reward (and picturesque) mando hole in the open. 16 forces you to overcome the small gap at the teepad to get back out to the fairway. 17 and 18 both dangle birdies in your face but make it very easy to leak OB.

This course looks good too.

Cons:

No tee signs/maps/numbers. The course was rearranged this year so I assume this is coming? Honestly might be my only complaint about this course.

If you're looking for a woods course, this is not it. There aren't many densely forested holes at all, and almost half of the holes are 400+ feet long.

Final Thoughts:

I love this course. It's a new favorite. Top 2 on my list. I'm a sucker for bombers that still require a good game plan. The "woods" holes are my favorite kind of woods–fair with a challenge. If this course gets a nice map and some teesigns, I don't know how I could not give it an A+.

The walk from 4 to 5 takes you right past #1's basket, and a couple of basket placements left me wondering.
A couple decent long holes, but nothing I would call a par 5.
Needs tee signs badly.
Although I feel that this is an average course, I always appreciate the work that goes in.

I never played old Brewer, just the new Champ course. Had a lot of fun here and was challenged. Lots of variety with wide open shots and wooded holes. Keep an eye on your discs or bring a friend or spotter, had to spend time looking for discs buried in tall grass off the fairways. Tee pads were in great shape as well as the Discatcher baskets. I could see when the course was busy, you would need to keep your head on a swivel. Port a potties were available during Pro Master Worlds, not sure of other facilities. I like that the course requires different BH/FH shots, and there was some slight elevation. Be aware of several mando arrows, maybe these were just temporary for tourney. For the most part the new Brewer Champ 18 is a well-designed, well-executed, championship caliber course that is well suited to tournament play. On the whole, there's a great mix of fairway types, shapes, elevation and distances. Bring your big boy pants to play here!!!!!!!!!
