This is a park style course with tons of slope and spectacular scenery from a few of the high spots overlooking the beautiful blue water of the Waikato River. Most holes are open with trees sprinkled in various spots - there are a couple of dense wooded holes mixed in providing a nice variety of shots overall. There's a couple of tee positions at each hole so you can adjust to your level of distance. The typical winds in Taupo will certainly add difficulty to the course, so keep that in mind when choosing your layout. If you're a disc golfer visiting Taupo, playing this course should be the first thing you do when you arrive.

Unsurprised to see the course rank #61 in the world by udisc. Scenery is spectacular. Especially down by the river. A good mix of wooded holes and longer more open shots. Forehand and backhand friendly holes to challenge everyone. The course is always in tip top condition. Great paved tee pads, several different difficulty layouts. RPM helix baskets (the best). The club puts on some of the best events in the country and if you go for a round you are likely to come across a friendly local or a tourist to tag along with for a game.

World class disc golf course. The Spa at Lake Taupo has all the ingredients to become one of the top 50 courses in the world. Great scenic park, with elevation and well designed fairways. The tee boxes, RPM Helix baskets and holes signs - all professional. Hole 9 overlooks the spa pools and Waikato River....awesome. The Ravine of no return on hole 17 sucked my favourite drive (Westside King) into its deep tangle of huge trees but delivered it with a search of the steep sides. Well done to the team that designed the course. Glad I stopped by on my tour of NZ disc golf courses.
