league is still on right

Kevin Zane   April 10, 2013 at 1:51pm

Is the $15 price just for KSU students?

Kevin Zane   April 16, 2013 at 4:34pm

Does Open play for cash? Or no prize at all?

Travis Bailey    April 8, 2013 at 6:02am

Put this together earlier.

With our Fairmont Fundraiser 3 Disc Challenge coming up, I thought I should start figuring out what driver(s) I want to order.
To do so I'm planning on practicing with what I already have, plus trading or borrowing a few discs with fellow DFOK members...

If you are looking for an overstable mid range I've got a sentinel you can borrow.

Alan Fox   April 8, 2013 at 10:54am

172 Rick

Rick Petrie   April 9, 2013 at 8:31pm

Thanks Alan. Both of mine are 175. Travis, I appreciate the offer but I think the Sentinel's are going to be too overstable for me.

Rick Petrie    April 7, 2013 at 9:18pm

For those of you who care to post their scores (or even just reviews of the layout) from yesterday's DU Open tourney, I added a 20 hole layout option to the course in Herrington.

I think you need to take out the spaces between the hole numbers on your custom layout. Might be causing the funky look when it shows up in the News feed.

Rick Petrie   April 7, 2013 at 5:41pm

Good call Josh. I made that change & it worked... except it does not apply to scores already entered (so I removed & reposted my scores)

Rick Petrie    April 7, 2013 at 7:30am

It was awesome to see so many DFOK members at the DU Open today!

How cool was it to hear the Tournament Director, Dennis Vahsholtz, say "Disc Golf is alive & well in Manhattan."

Just so everyone knows this weekend at tuttle we set our lights out for night golf Friday and left them out to play again Saturday and I had 5 of my flashlights stolen off the baskets and a few of the milk jugs were destroyed. Just a heads up in case other people had this idea pick your lights up each night

Anyone going to the DU open this weekend? If so, any idea when it will end? I'm super interested in going, but need to be home on Sunday by 6:00. Thanks!

after some heated discussion......the lions club decided to fund seven more baskets tonight and 3 additional sleeves which will give us five alternates now. Hopefully everything will be finished by the end of april with a three weeks to practice before the tournament.

For those of you eagerly awaiting Points League and Bag Tag league updates, I will not be able to post them tonight.
I will get everything up to day either tomorrow night, or Friday afternoon. Also, I will do my best to make sure this does not become the norm.

My apologies.

Fairmont expansion project... advisory. I went out Monday and unfortunately met one of our neighbors. I had my dog (on a leash) and rick happened to drive by. I went and said hi and we were talking. My dog bolted and the leash was pulled out of my hand. She went straight to my brother who then picked up the leash. Anyway the neighbor saw this and yelled from his front porch to get my dog on a leash and that this was not a dog park. He used some more colorful words to tell me this but that ... more

I had the same thing happen to me...in fact I'm sure he said the same exact words to me. I feel like I have talked to the guy before, he said he was okay with the disc golf just didn't like other dogs "mocking" his dogs and making them bark. Good point though Adam that is the l ... more

I think there is a park rule. manahattan also has city ordinace about dogs on leash... i dont really know if fairmont is considered city limit

Attention Points League Players:
Please be sure to let me know which division you wish to compete in for this new Spring Season. This includes if you simply want to stay in the same division as you were in for the Winter Season. I still need to know your decisions.

Thanks.

I might as well bump up to advanced, thanks Rick!

Josh Carroll   March 21, 2013 at 1:04pm

Something to think about next year. Is there a way to implement performance-based tiers? Could definitely help get the field spread more evenly without forcing people to make a decision to play in a division that they aren't comfortable in. Maybe your first 3 league rounds in a season determine the tier you belong to? After those three, you're locked in that tier until the end of the season.

Rick Petrie   March 28, 2013 at 1:04am

These are interesting ideas and want to hear more about them. We will meet again, like we did last year, to establish format & rules (+changes) for the 2013-2014 season.

Shout out to the following DFOK members for all their hard work at today's Fairmont Park work day.

Good Morning Everyone!

Reminder: Today is the first WORKDAY of the Fairmont Disc Golf Course expansion project.

Today's focus will be to do some basic clean-up of a specific wooded fairway area so as to get a better look at what we have to work with in there. This is sure to be the coolest "before & after" part of the course expansion project so don't miss out on a chance to help & see it change before our very eyes.

Sunday March 17
10:00am -thru - Mid-Afternoon
(Come & go as you can. Any amount of time will be helpful)

See you there!

^ Very interesting.

Rick Petrie   March 14, 2013 at 1:50pm

Travis, Yep it is interesting. Good news is it flows easier than it reads... (It's layed out as a 10 addition, but #2 temp could be easily dropped to make it 9 holes).

Adam Johnson   March 14, 2013 at 1:50pm

If you haven't played the reverse then you should give it a try... my opinion is that it has 2 AWESOME shots, but does complicate flow
