About

South Island Disc Golf (SIDG) is a community-first disc golf organisation built to contribute to the growth of disc golf across the South Island.

SIDG exists as an additive and supplementary part of the wider disc golf ecosystem. We are not a governing body, regulatory group, club replacement, or controlling interest, and we do not aim to become one. Our role is to help create more opportunities for people to play, connect, compete, learn and enjoy the game.

We aim to operate from a neutral space, with no standing priority toward or against any shop, brand, course, club, manufacturer, or commercial interest. Where partnerships happen, they are there to support the experience, not to narrow the community. The only time SIDG would clearly favour or avoid something is where safety, fairness, access, or community wellbeing makes that necessary.

SIDG began with distinctive events like the SIDG Seasonals and BERG Challenge NZ, and will continue to grow into new formats over time, including league play, glow events, skill challenges, casual formats and other community-focused disc golf experiences.

At its core, SIDG is about helping the game grow in a way that is welcoming, practical, creative and sustainable. We care about clear communication, thoughtful event design, inclusive formats, local relationships, and reinvesting energy and resources back into the disc golf community.

We are here to add value, support momentum, and help more people find their place in the game.
