FGR was founded in Gufunes on August 20, 2017. The main purpose of the association is to promote the sport of frisbee golf in Reykjavík and participate in building facilities for training and competition. FGR is a member of the Reykjavík Sports Association. FGR enjoys the support of ÍBR, UMFÍ and the City of Reykjavík for various projects.

The association organizes training and competitions in frisbee and organizes courses and teaching for the public, schools and leisure activities. FGR is based at Þorláksgeisla 51 at the frisbee golf course in Grafarholt.
