About this tournament
2 rounds of play
Come see the updates at Prince Gallitzin State Park AND help build central PA's hidden gem. All proceeds will go directly into course development including tee pads, signage, and new baskets.
This one day tournament will consist of TWO rounds and will mimic the Collegiate Disc Golf format.
ROUND1- Singles Play
ROUND 2- TEAM Format- The TEAMS round will mimic the rules for College Disc Golf. This round will be played with TWO (2) sets of teammates, one ODD pair, and one EVEN pair. The ODD set will tee off on every odd-numbered hole, while the EVEN set tees off on every even-numbered hole. After the tee shots, the team chooses which of the two lies to play. From there, the set that did not tee throws their two shots. That alternating process continues until the hole is complete. This format allows for each player to tee off the same amount of times and for teams to play as a whole. Each hole has two teams playing together as an eight-some. (Collegediscgolf.com/rules)
In the event that there are less than 4 players on a team, the individual without a partner will only have one throw per turn. (Collegediscgolf.com/rules).
Visit the College Disc Golf website for a great video explaining TEAMS play format at collegediscgolf.com/rules.
SCORING-
All singles rounds will count towards the overall team score. Singles scores from each player on a team will be averaged and rounded to the nearest whole number (.5 and .75 round up, .25 rounds down). These scores will be added to the scores from team rounds for the team's scoring total.
DIVISIONS-
High School/Middle School- Teams consist of 4 team members graduating after the 2025 School year. Students attending the same school district is preferable; however, it is NOT mandatory.
Collegiate- Teams must consist of any full time or part time college student. Disc Golf Club affiliation is not required for this event. College students attending the same university is preferable; however, it is NOT mandatory.
Open MA1 ( > 930), Open MA2, (860 to 930) and Open MA3 (<860)- These divisions are open to any enthusiast. Teams consist any of player at varying levels. (In fact, this is a great opportunity to get first-timers to participate.) Teams should take average ranking of the members to determine division.
Example- Player A- 930 rating, Player B- 870 rating, Player C-850 rating, and Player D- 810 Rating. In this case, team should enter OMA2 given the average (867.5) of each player. When is doubt, use a higher division or reach out to Patrick Baney at [email redacted].
COST:
Cost is $15 per person ($60 per team) for the Middle School/High School Division. All other divisions are $20 per person ($80 per team).
Trophy Only- This is a Trophy Only tournament. Team trophies will be awarded for 1st and 2nd place in each division.
LAYOUT- All divisions will use the White layouts for this tournament. Please see the Caddie guide for a hole-by-hole description.
FOOD- Food will be available in between rounds. Burgers, dogs, and sides will be available for $3.00.
Putter and Distance Competitions-
We will be holding both a putter competition and a Long Drive Competition after the event.
Entry costs include your used disc. One disc (Putter, Midrange, or Fairway driver) get you ONE ticket (or throw) A complete starter set of all three (Putter, Midrange AND Fairway Driver) gets you five tickets(or throws.) Would you rather donate money to the course. $3- get you one ticket $10 gets you five tickets.
Starter Pack Donations- Yinzer's Disc Golf and Wind shred DG are dedicated to helping "Grow the Sport" at Prince Gallitzin. We are putting together beginner player packs to be loaned to campers and first-time users. We will make these starter packs available at the Crooked Run Camp Store and the PGSP main office. Please consider donating putters, midranges, fairway drivers, or starter bags to help grow the sport in Blair/Cambria County.
SPONSORSHIP- There are TWO additional ways to help raise funds for Prince Gallitzin through sponsorship.
Hole sponsorship is $20. A temporary sign will be posted at the hole, your name/club will be announced at player meeting, and your name will be printed in the Caddie Guide.
Tee Box Sponsorship- A permanent plaque will be placed on the sign post once signs are installed. (Anticipated for Spring of 2025). You may choose the hole and what your sign says. See Patrick Baney for specific details.
