Westy Tag Championship
About this tournament
Tag league members only. To be eligible you need to have played in a tag night or played in a challenge match.
Format will be a first round of 12 hole seeded pool stroke play followed by multiple rounds of 12 hole seeded match play tournament style finals.
Players can pick A pool or B pool as a preference when registering, but based on numbers signing up we might need to move players up or down to balance pool sizes. First round pool sizes will be 32 or 16 players depending on total number of players signing up.
First round pool play will be cards of 4 with players seeded by their tag numbers at the time of the tournament.
Seeded cards for 16 in a pool look like this:
Card 1 (1, 8, 9, 16),
Card 2 (2, 7, 10, 15),
Card 3 (3, 6, 11, 14),
Card 4 (4, 5, 12, 13),
The winner (lowest score) of each card in the first round (8 players or 4 players if 16 in pool) will move on to the tournament rounds.
Tournament rounds will match high seeds with low seeds as is normal in a bracket-style tournament. Tournament rounds will be match play.
Exact sizes of the pools will be determined by the number of people signing up.
Plan on playing up to 48 holes this day if you want to take it all although we reserve the right to delay the final round(s) in case we run out of daylight. There will be an A pool and a B pool champion crowned.Winners of A and B pool get a trophy to put on their mantel. Top two in each pool also get a Westy Acres tee.
There will be an Ace pot buy-in for pool play of $5 at the event. We will also have a $1 a throw Ace challenge at the event. Ace pot will roll into this if not hit during pool play.
Alternatively, pool cards will be setup using seeds as follows for a 32 player pool:
Card 1 (1, 16, 17, 32),
Card 2 (2, 15, 18, 31),
Card 4 (3, 14, 19, 30),
Card 4 (4, 13, 20, 29),
Card 5 (5, 12, 21, 28),
Card 6 (6, 11, 22, 27),
Card 7 (7, 10, 23, 26),
Card 8 (8, 9, 24, 25),
