Format:
Two rounds at Veterans Memorial Park.

Round ONE ~ ALTERNATE SHOT

Alternate Shot, is a disc golf competition format in which two disc golfers play as partners, playing only one disc, taking turns playing the strokes. In other words, the two disc golfers alternate taking shots.

EXAMPLE OF ALTERNATE SHOT PLAY

Players A and B partner one another on an alternate shot team, or side. They decide among themselves who tees off first on the the first hole. Let's say they decide on Player A to throw the opening tee ball. So on the first hole, A throws the tee shot. They walk to the disc, and Player B throws the second shot. The third stroke is played by Player A. Then Player B throws the fourth. They alternate throwing shots until the disc is in the basket.

They also alternate throwing tee shots, so since in our example Player A threw the drive on the first hole, on the second hole Player B tees off. And so on throughout the round. Who Tees Off First on No. 1? That's up to the partners. But it's the biggest tactical decision partners in alternate shot have to make. The golfer who tees off on No. 1 is also going to tee off on Nos. 3, 5, 7 and so on - all the odd-numbered holes. And the golfer who tees off on No. 2 will also tee off on Nos. 4, 6 and so on - all the even-numbered holes.

ALTERNATE SHOT RULES

-Penalty strokes do not affect the order of play in alternate shot.

-In stroke play, playing out of order results in the cancellation of the stroke and a penalty of two strokes, with the disc golfers required to replay the stroke. Failure to correct the error results in disqualification.

Round TWO ~ SCRAMBLE

A Scramble is by far the most popular doubles format. Both players throw from each lie (starting with the tee shot), then the team chooses which of the resulting lies to continue play from, until the hole is completed.

It's up to the team to decide on order of play.

EXAMPLE OF SCRAMBLE PLAY

Each golfer on the team throws a drive. The results of the drives are compared. Which one is best? That disc is selected and marked, and the other disc golfers on the team pick up their discs and move them to that location. The second strokes are played, and the process repeats: Select the best disc, teammates move to that spot and play the third strokes. And so on, until the disc is holed for one team score.

SCRAMBLE RULES

-A team may take a reasonable amount of time to pick which lie they want before the 30-second play clock starts.

-A lie that is picked up without being marked is gone forever; the team must throw from the other lie. If the second lie is picked up, it must be replaced in accordance with PDGA rules. All lies must be marked according to PDGA rules.

-If the first player throws from the wrong lie, the second player may still throw from the correct lie.

-In case of injury or disqualification, one partner may play alone, throwing one shot at each lie (essentially playing singles) with one mulligan per hole.

TIE SCENARIO

In the event of a tie, there will be a six hole sudden death play off, #1 - #6, repeating until a champion is crowned.
