About this tournament

Communication to all registrants June 1:

We have great news! We have a new date for the WGE at Ettyville Super Spin – it will now take place on Sunday, August 8th, 2021! In holding the event on this date, we will be partnering with the other Tournament Director’s in Canada (who all had their events postponed) to run a Canadian Women’s Event.

If you are unable to attend and need to withdraw, you can choose one of the following options:

Full Refund;
Receive your WGE Player’s Pack, assuming you were one of the first 40 players who have registered, and we don’t have any new registrations (value exceeds more than the registration fee).
In holding this event, all the organizers, volunteers, and sponsors want to ensure that we can truly celebrate women in disc golf in 2021!

We would like to thank you for your support in initially registering for this event, and your understanding as we and so many others deal with Covid-19.

Closer to the event we will release a more detailed plan of the days events, layouts, and tee pad selections.

Communication to all registrants April 21:

Due to COVID-19 provincial and regional public health measures and restrictions we are postponing WGE at Ettyville Super Spin. As we have a clearer understanding of re-opening measures, restrictions, return to play protocols, and sanctioning options we will plan for an alternate date. At that time, you can decide if you would need to withdraw and we will re-outline all the options then.

All the organizers, volunteers, and sponsors want to ensure that we can truly celebrate women in disc golf in 2021! It is a matter of when at the moment.

We want to thank you for your support in registering for the event and your understanding as we and so many others deal with Covid-19.

About:

We are excited to be hosting a Women's Global Event this year at Ettyville Super Spin Disc Golf Centre in Bourget, Ontario on Saturday May 8th, which will be the first ever women’s only tournament in the National Capital Region. We hope to make this an experience you won’t forget by providing fun, quality competition at all levels from Professional to Beginners. We will also have Junior Divisions and a Novice Division (FA4) .

No experience is necessary! We hope to see many new faces on the course who would be welcomed by the more experienced players. Let's grow the sport for women in our area and enjoy a fun day of disc golfing together.

Lunch will be provided. Please specify any dietary requirements when registering.

Tee Times:
We will be aiming to have a standard shotgun start, but if that’s not possible due to Covid restrictions, we will be moving to a tee times layout. We will update the players with ample time before the event in order to plan for a revised schedule.
Round 1 - 9:30 - 12:30
Round 2 - 1:30 - 5:30

Layout: To be confirmed but the vision is,

Pro women (FPO) including age protected divisions and Amateur Advanced Women (FA1) will play 2 rounds of 18 holes each on the Island Dunes course from the Pro gold tees.

(FA2, FA3) and all age protected divisions) will play 2 rounds of 18 holes on the Island Dune course from the white tees
All Junior Divisions and the recreational FA4 division will have a clinic in the morning, followed by 1 round of 18 holes after lunch on the Island Dunes course from the red tees
Please note: Any Junior aged 13 or under must be accompanied by an adult.

Please note the descriptions below are guidelines ONLY. Anyone is welcome in the division they feel fits them best regardless of their age, ability, or experience. Age protected divisions such as junior or masters are optional, meaning you are not required to play in that division if you feel a different division better suits your needs. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions about divisions!

Novice (FA4) $30:

This division is for brand new players who have not competed before. It is recommended you sign up for this division if you have little to no experience playing disc golf. We will offer instruction to all players who wish to attend a morning-of-event instruction and rules-of-disc golf briefing. This is meant to introduce you to the sport, get a set of discs in your possession, and provide you with a low-pressure, female-dominated environment in which to try the sport.

Recreational (FA3) $35:

This division is intended for women who are fairly new to the sport but who have played more than a handful of times. Typically players in this division will throw anywhere from 50 to 100 feet with their drives and can be quite sporadic with their putting accuracy. This is meant to introduce you to a more competitive setting within the sport of disc golf while still engaging in a fun and leasurlie round.

Intermediate & Age-Protected (FA2) $35:

This division is for more experienced players who are looking to improve on their competitive success. Attendance at the pre-tournament clinic and briefing aren’t necessary but welcomed with open arms. There’s no such thing as too much practice, and maybe you’ll hear something you haven’t before. Players in this division can typically throw their drives 100-200 feet off the tee, and will hit 4-6 putts out of 10 from 20 feet, demonstrating a degree of consistency with their putting.

Advanced (FA1) $35:

If you’re playing Advanced, you’ve had some tournament experience and are eager to further develop your game and level of competition. There is a pronounced increase in driving and putting consistency when compared to the FA2 division. Players can typically drive 200+ feet and will make 6+/10 putts from 20 feet.

Pro (FPO) $35:

If you’re playing pro, you already know the drill. You might not even be reading these descriptions by now! Players in this division can consistently drive 250+ feet and will make upwards of 8/10 of their putts from 20 feet. Players in this division will have the option to purchase the full WGE players pack in addition to other goodies when they register, otherwise, as the name suggests, they’re playing for their payout.

Players Pack:
A player’s pack is a collection of items you will receive just for signing up for this event!
Please note only the first 20 people registered will receive a PDGA WGE player pack. Each player’s pack will include a WGE stamped Dynamic Discs Judge, a WGE stamped Innova Disc, WGE Disc Golf Pin, Canvas Bag, Towel, Disc Golfer’s Code Reusable Scorecard, Pencil, and more!
A separate players pack will also be available for those not receiving the PDGA WGE player pack.

Prizes:
All divisions will be competing for trophies for the top finisher as well as a number of other prizes, including Closest to the Pins (CTPs), prize draws, a Ring of Fire, etc., along with cash payouts for the FPO division!

And a special thank you to our sponsors!

Refund policy

John Pytel and Brenda Cox are responsible for all refunds/cancellations.

In the event where Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) sanctioning is not possible, the event will still run as scheduled unsanctioned. A full refund will be available for those who do not wish to play an unsanctioned event.

Public Health Department protocols supersede all others in size, scope, safety, and conduct. Most notably it determines outdoor organized sporting event size. There is no forecasting possible and we will advise of any impacts and procedures as close to the event as possible. A full refund will be available if the event is cancelled.

Players who officially request to withdraw from an event at least 30 days before the start of the event will receive a 100% cash refund (minus up to a $10 handling fee).

Players who officially request to withdraw from an event 15 to 29 days before the start of the event will receive a 100% cash refund minus up to a $10 handling fee ONLY if their spot in the tournament is filled through either the waitlist or a walk-up entry (if offered). If the player’s spot is NOT filled, the TD has the choice to provide EITHER a 50% cash refund OR just the player’s pack the player would have received if they had attended (minus the cost of shipping). In the case of a player in a Pro division for an event without a Pro player pack worth at least 25% of the Entry Fee, the TD will provide the 50% cash refund.

Players who officially request to withdraw from an event within 14 days of the start of the event and prior to the event’s published closure of registration and waitlist replacements will receive a 100% cash refund minus up to a $10 handling fee ONLY if their spot in the tournament is filled through either the waitlist or a walk-up entry (if offered). If the player’s spot is NOT filled, the TD has the choice to provide EITHER a 25% cash refund OR just the player’s pack they would have received if they had attended (minus the cost of shipping). Players who do NOT officially request to withdraw from a registered spot playing in the event prior to the published closure of registration and waitlist replacements and don’t play (aka a no-show), forfeit their entry fee and do NOT receive a refund or player’s pack. (This does NOT apply to a waitlist player)
