About this tournament
3 rounds of play
General Info:
Unfortunately, due to a schedule conflict, we were unable to reserve Tahoe Vista on Saturday. The good news is that the course is available on Sunday, so there will be a slight schedule switch. All divisions will play two rounds on Saturday and one round on Sunday, and all rounds will be tee times. On Saturday, players will be split into two pools of roughly equal size. I can confirm that all pro divisions will be in the ‘A’ Pool which will start at Donner. Some amateur divisions will also be in that pool to even out the numbers, but I am going to wait until we are closer and I have a better idea of final division sizes to announce which ones. The remaining amateur divisions will be in the ‘B’ Pool which will start at Sierra College. Both pools will go off in tee time groups every 10 minutes starting at 7:30 am. After you finish your first round, you will check to determine the time that you finished your round. Your second round will be played on the opposite course (Donnor or Sierra) that you did not play in the morning with the same group and will start exactly an hour and a half after your first round is completed. Please make sure to leave the hole before determining your finish time to allow the group behind you to throw. Please make sure to confirm with your entire group the start time of your second round, and also to set it at exactly one and a half hours from when you finish. Also keep in mind that while the drive between courses is fairly short, Truckee can be very busy on summer weekends, and there will be some traffic and restaurants can be very busy. I would recommend a quick lunch or a lunch you pack yourself and getting to the second course as quick as possible. The second day will feature one round with tee times at Tahoe Vista. The current planned order for Sunday (subject to change) is Junior, MA60/MP60, MA50, MA40, MA2, FA1, MA1, MP50, MP40, FPO, MPO.
Check-In Procedure:
You will check in at your first course no less than 20 mins prior to your tee time. At Check-in, you must sign a covid waiver, as well as a donner ski ranch waiver. If you do not sign both of these waivers, you will not be able to play. We will be doing players pack distribution on Sunday because it is easier to do it when there is only one course in play. You will also receive the code for PDGA live scoring at check-in. Please note than addition to this live scoring, you must also complete a backup scorecard on either paper or udisc.
Withdrawals:
As posted on the discgolfscene page, all refunds are being handled as per PDGA policy. The policy states that currently, since we are between 15 and 29 days away, a 50% refund will be offered, or you can choose to receive your players pack. 14 days from the event, this 50% will drop to 25%, so if you know you cannot make it, please let me know sooner rather than later. Regardless of when you drop out, you still have the players pack option. If you have already requested a refund and have not received it yet, please let me know as soon as possible.
Ace Pot:
The ace pot is $5 per player and is currently sitting at around $400. If you did not get into the ace pot when you signed up, you can get in whenever. Paypal $5 to [email redacted] or pay cash at tournament central. Ace pot will be split evenly between all aces. If there are no aces on Saturday, and since Sunday is tee times, there will be a CTP at Tahoe Vista. If no one aces on Sunday either, whoever wins the CTP will receive 50%, with the other 50% going to charity. If you have any questions about the ace pot don’t hesitate to reach out.
Raffle:
We are going to bring you an awesome raffle on Saturday night after the rounds! You can buy your tickets when your check in or when you finish! We will also be selling tickets after the round, but if you are in an early group, your best bet is buy them before the round. You do not have to be present to win! Just write your name on the tickets and you can get your prizes on Sunday. All raffle money will go into the payout so you are helping out the tournament!
Sponsors:
We have 3 incredible sponsors to thank! First, OTB Discs. They will be handling the payouts for the ams, and always provide all their customers with phenomenal selection and top notch customer service. I also want to thank Donner Creek Brewing. The are a great brewery located less than a mile from Sierra College! Stop by for a cold beer and some delicious food after your round. Last but not least, Carmazzi Carmel Corn. Everyone will be getting a batch of delicious homemade carmel corn to snack on during your round, and they are also kicking in a large assortment for the raffle! If you or anyone you know is interested in sponsoring in any way, please don’t hesitate to reach out, we would love to have you.
Smoking
On a sobering note, we may have just lost one of the best courses in the area and my personal favorite course anywhere, Turtle Rock. While this fire was not caused by smoking, I don’t want to take any chances. Any smoking whatsoever at any time or place on the course will result in an immediate disqualification from the tournament. If you must smoke, do it in your car or in the parking lot. It is not worth the risk to smoke on the course.
