About this tournament
3 rounds of play
The Tour de Upland is an unsanctioned singles event using all three courses in Upland: Upland Park, Upland Community Church, and Taylor University. The event is raising money for the installation of a full 18-hole course in Upland, which will be announced very soon!
Event Rundown
Divisions
We are offering a wide range of divisions so that everyone has an appropriate spot to play and compete. There must be at least three people in your division once registration closes. If there are not, we will move you to the next best division.
Player Packs
Your player pack is your choice of one available Prodigy Discs mold with a custom stamp just for this fundraiser event. More info on available molds once the order has been placed.
Event Schedule
Everyone will play all three 9-hole courses in Upland on the day, one round at each course with 45 minute breaks between rounds 1 and 2 as well as rounds 2 and 3. Round 1 will begin at 9 am sharp. Tournament central will be at Upland Park following the completion of all rounds for awards and extras payouts (ace and 50/50 funds.) Players will be placed in pools by division as best as possible so that each division is playing the same course at the same time. Pools will play as follows:
Pool A - Upland Park to UCC to Taylor
45 minute break
Pool B - UCC to Taylor to Upland Park
45 minute break
Pool C - Taylor to Upland Park to UCC
Awards and close
The tournament will be a shotgun start so you will be assigned a starting hole during round one. You will be reassigned to new cards during each break based on scores. Each round will start 45 minutes after the last card is turned in, which will be posted to the Matter Park Disc Golf Club Facebook group as well as emailed to you.
Tournament Staff
A TD or assistant TD will be present at each location for the rounds played there for player questions. Further questions will be forwarded to the TD via phone or video call to answer discrepancies immediately.
Course Layouts
OB rules will be determined closer to date of the tournament for all three courses. Course maps can be found on UDisc. Some notes from each course:
- The Upland Park will be upgraded to 9 holes before this tournament begins. UDisc currently only reflects the 5-hole layout. Be sure to park along Washington Street parking spaces or in the lot at the corner of Washington and 8th St.
- UCC will have tees marked for the tournament day. For practice rounds, use UDisc to get relative estimates. Park in the middle of the lot close to the church building entrance there on tournament day, as some fairways are on or by the parking lot edges.
- Taylor course starts by the dorms on the south end of campus. You'll want to park in open spots that are not staff or student specific and walk to your starting hole.
Scoring
Scoring will be done via paper scorecards. Each group needs to keep at least one scorecard and turn it into the TD at their location when the round is completed.
Payouts
Every division winner will get a first-place trophy for their efforts. There will not be payouts for this event, as it is a fundraiser event. Every dollar brought in will be put toward the 18-hole course installation, which will be only the second full course in the entire county!
Lunch
The Upland Parks will be running food vending at Upland Park during both break times and the funds from those sales will also go toward the new course so plan to grab a bite or a drink between rounds at the park to support the cause even further.
Donations
If you, someone you know, or a company you know would like to donate toward the new course or toward some player pack item for this event, we would love to have them on board. They can email me at [email redacted] to get involved.
Thanks for taking the time to play and support disc golf in Upland! We are truly excited to be looking at an 18-hole course in our small town, but we can't do it without you. So thank you!
