About this tournament
Welcome to the The R'Ice Bowl III
Brought to you by Evolution DG, in partnership with Ryan Rice of Rice Properties Group at Keller Williams Capital Properties is our Title Sponsor and has been for supporting our Ice Bowls for the last 4 years. Not a typo, he sponsored the Snowhick Bay Ice Bowl as well. Many, many thanks for the support for disc golf and the Capital Area Food Bank.
This is a 2 round Bring Your Own Partner doubles event, played on 2 temporary courses at Prince William Golf Course in Nokesville, VA.
For Those who don't know: An Ice Bowl® is a disc golf event held in January or February with a mission to increase local awareness of disc golf by raising charitable funds to combat hunger and other related activities. Ice Bowls emphasize fun over competition, while creating a positive image for disc golf and disc golfers by publicizing the charitable fundraising. In 2014, there were 226 Ice Bowls in North America and Europe that raised over $302K. In 2015 was another record year with 238 events raising a record $344,184. Yet another record was set in 2016 when 219 events raised over $357K. Since 1996, Ice Bowl has raised over $4,200,000.
Here are the three historical Ice Bowl® Rules that convey Ice Bowl’s spirit:
1. Under no circumstances, may an Ice Bowl® be cancelled or postponed because of weather conditions.
2. No wimps or whiners are allowed.
3. There are no excuses for not attending. Either be there or be called out as a wimp!
While Rules 2 and 3 are “inviolable,” recent winters have taught us that sometimes cancellations are warranted. Defying the conditions is a big part of the fun, but Mother Nature may force Rule 1 to be broken; public safety is of the utmost importance and should guide your decision to hold your event if conditions are too severe or dangerous.
