This tournament features the famous “6 Card Stroke” Game!
Six Card Stroke
This is a side game of disc golf. To the best of our knowledge, this game originated in the Midwest area of the United States. It is played in conjunction with a regular round of disc golf guided by PDGA rules.
Each player will be issued 6 different cards. Each card will designate a different type of disc golf throw as follows:
# 1 The Side Arm. This shot can be either an air shot or a roller. May not be called if there is an obstacle blocking the player’s dominant arm.
# 2 The Thumber. This shot has the same rules as the side arm but with the thrower’s thumb placed under the leading edge of the disc.
# 3 The Roller. This shot may use a variety of grips as long as the thrown disc travels towards the target by rolling on the ground.
#4 The Pancake. This shot is one where the disc is thrown over a player’s head with the disc being released in an upside-down attitude. May be either an air shot or a “Scooby/Scooter” throw.
# 5 The Opposite Hand Putt. Must be called within the PDGA 10-meter (33 feet) putting distance. Right-handed throwers must putt left-handed and vice-versa.
# 6 I don’t think so! Can be used on any throw except a hole in one! Players may NOT retrieve their disc on a drive but may retrieve a putter.
Cards may only be played on players on the same scorecard during the two rounds of 21-holes. NO CARDS MAY BE USED IN PLAYOFFS!
All cards must be issued before the opponent steps into the tee box, or steps up to their marker/lie. The receiver marks the card with a pencil and keeps the card. The player that collects the most cards will win a special prize at the award ceremony.
A player may use a mulligan after a card shot, they may then throw anything they wish and are exempt from another “carding.”
