About this tournament
$600 added cash
2 rounds of play
This is the second ever tournament at Hippo Ridge Disc Golf Course. There will be two rounds of 18 holes from the blue tees.
THERE WILL BE NO ON-SITE REGISTRATION.
The course is located at 9888 East Copeland Road, Stewart, OH, 45778. Google maps will deposit you on the side of New England Road; so you have to find where East Copeland Road meets New England Road. Do not use the location or directions from any other source.
The low entry fee in the advanced division goes along with the lack of payout beyond trophies The trophies will be fabulous. Pro payout will be 100% of net receipts.
Parking will be at a high premium; particularly if the weather is very wet. Carpoolers will be rewarded with upgraded parking opportunities for each additional golfer in the car up to three.
BYO lunch is recommended. However, you can get to a convenience store in 10 minutes or fast food in 15 minutes. Water will be provided.
There will be a sit-down restroom in the house and a porta-potty on number 7.
The tournament is limited to 64 players. This will leave 16 four-person groups on the course each round and 2 holes empty at all times in order to accommodate course conflicts.
The Hippo Ridge Blues is not recommended for recreational-level players. This layout is about 7500 feet long and quite narrow in places, particularly near the tees. Using myself as a guidepost, I'd want my rating to be above 875 (instead of 800) before attempting this in a tournament setting. And for you advanced players, this is what you're looking for - tough but fair.
For those of you who are NOT familiar with the course, rest assured that temporary signage will be provided. You may have heard that there is no permanent signage.
For those of you who ARE familiar with the course, the tournament will play from new fairways on 3, 4, 13, and 18 as well as shortened tee locations on 9 and 16. Those last two were lengthened 3 years ago when I decided there would never be a tournament at Hippo Ridge. Wrong! All changes have been made in order to minimize conflicts on the course. Safety first!
