A crown jewel of the 2026 I-81 DGS, The West Virginia Open is an annual Disc Golf Tournament held in the beautiful mountains of Paw Paw, West Virginia which has been running since 1991. The host courses boast 36 holes of beautifully maintained terrain, elevation changes, woods challenges, and opportunities to bomb. This private property is one of the hidden gems of disc golf, not only for it's natural beauty, but also because of the charming people who host us. The Thurman Family (Spencer, Gabby, and Asa) welcome the community of golfers with open arms and hospitality. The tournament has a lot of traditions that only can be experienced, and not described here.

The other unique thing about WVO is the unique festival-like experience that comes with camping, campfires, walkabouts after dark, spontaneous music, Grill outs, a pro shop, swimming in the pond on hole 18, and much more!

Camping is included in your registration, just remember a few key things:

1) Bring plenty of food/water
2) Pack in/pack out, this includes all trash
3) Rain gear and extra change of clothes and socks
4) Fires are allowed only at the prebuilt fire pit locations
5) Ice is available for purchase at the barn
6) Bring some discs that are gathering dust to trade!
7) Restrooms are port o johns
8) Glow golf gear often makes nights at Paw Paw really fun.
9) The nearest town is a pretty long winding drive through the mountains.
10) Don't drink and drive, it's never worth it. Designate a driver if you plan on traveling. Don't speed through on the local roads.
