About this tournament

The National Collegiate Cup is an invitational match play tournament which brings together the top College teams from across the country and around the World. The top 20 teams based on Innova team rankings will receive invitations and will then have until June 1 to register their teams at the early-bird rate of $200 per 4-person team.

This exciting and highly-competitive match-play format features an 8-team bracket with teams seeded into 'regions' based largely on the final Innova team rankings along with the latest Hucker College Rankings following the 2017 National Collegiate Disc Golf Championships. (Seedings will be 'tweaked' to ensure that teams will not travel 1,000 miles just to play a regional rival in the first round.)

First round play will commence with tee times beginning at 8:00 a.m. Each of the 2, 4-team Pools )Pool A and Pool B) will produce 4 cards pitting one player from each team in that region against each other in 3 separate 8 hole singles matches over one 24 hole round. Each player on a team of four can earn up to 6 points for their team during that first round. 2 points for winning an 8 hole match, 1 point for a tie.

Second round play in each of the two Pools will pit doubles teams from the top two teams against each other in a match play format, and the #3 and #4 teams against each other. The format over the 24 holes of play will be, 8 holes of best-shot match play, 8 holes of best-score match play, and 8 holes of alternate shot match play with each match being worth 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie.

After two 24 hole rounds of golf, the TOP TWO TEAMS from each Pool will advance to the Championship matches on Sunday. The third and fourth place teams will compete for the "Chumpionship!" The other four teams will also play the same format to decide 5th through 8th places.

The morning round will pit each 4 person team against each other in the NCDGC doubles format, match play style, to produce the Champion! In the event of a TIE after 24 holes, the format played will be true alternate shot, match-play with each Captain determining the order of play for their respective teams with only one person taking each shot.

The Winning team is guaranteed winning a $2,000 donation to the general scholarship fund at their college/university to go toward the creation of an endowed scholarship to support and help to sustain a disc golf team. Should the winning team prefer NOT to begin an endowed scholarship fund, each of the 4 players can instead opt to have $250 in tuition and fees for fall 2017 reimbursed through the Johnson Project.
