About this tournament

What is this tournament? / What is Disc Golf?
-------
Disc golf is played much like golf except, instead of a ball and clubs, players use a flying disc. The sport was formalized in the 1970s and shares with golf the object of completing each hole in the fewest strokes (or, in the case of disc golf, fewest throws).

This is a 1 round / 18 hole disc golf “best-shot doubles” tournament.

THIS TOURNAMENT IS GOING TO BE AWESOME! Along with some solid gift card prizes for the winners, there will be CTP prizes (closest to pin) on three of the shorter holes. CTP prizes will be discs donated for the event. But more than anything it will be a fun day to throw with friends and family!
Score tracking will occur over the UDISC app - https://udisc.com/
At least one member of the card will need UDISC so as to keep score.
Who can play? / Divisions and Teams
-------
Anyone above the age of 10, guys and girls, can sign up for this tournament. Based on you and your partner's age / skill level, you will register for a particular “division” You and your partner form a team (with a team name) of two people.
Youth - Any team with both participants under the age of 18
Any card with youth participants must have at least one related parent (playing or not playing) to supervise.
Recreational - Any team with participants who are new or relatively new to disc golf.
Advanced - Any team with participants who have played disc golf for some time.
If you have people on the same team that fit different divisions (e.g., a youth and an adult), then register for the division of the higher ranking (e.g. a rec and an advanced pairing would sign up for the advanced division).
Teams from different divisions can be on the same card.
There will be a max of 3 teams (doubles pairings) per card.
Youth and Recreational divisions will play from modified short tees on some of the longer holes to keep up the speed of play.
Team names must be appropriate / not suggestive or else they will be asked to be changed (This is a church fundraiser!). Don’t be that team that I have to ask.
When is the tournament?
-------
The tournament will take place on May 7th, 2022. Check in will be between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. We will have a brief meeting and prayer at 9:00 a.m. at the mini pavilion, followed by tee off time at 9:30 a.m. The tournament should last around two hours. Following the tournament, we will have a short awards presentation at the pavilion.
Where is the tournament?
-------
The tournament will be held at Zube Park in Hockley, TX (a couple minutes past 99 on Highway 290 west). There is a large parking lot next to the disc golf course in the entrance off of Roberts Rd. We will have check-in at the small pavilion next to this parking lot.
Why have this tournament?
-------
This is a fundraising tournament for the summer programs of the youth ministry at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church in Houston, TX. With your support, we will be able to attend events such as AYC and Lifeteen Summer Camp, along with raising money for scholarships for youth who normally cannot afford to attend these events. 100% of the money raised from this tournament will go towards the youth program.
